Limit Federal Government. We have individual states for a reason. Quit making laws that affect the entire country and let the states have more control. The system is already in place. Use it. We dont need as much Federal government. They have way too much power. You dont like abortion? Dont live in CA. You dont like the religious right? Dont live in Alabama. Dont like overreaching government? Tell the Federal government to fuck off. We have legal cannabis in a lot of states and yet it is Federally illegal. We have 50 states for reason. We don't all like the same shit. I don't want some terd from NYC telling me how to live in Cypress CA. I already have enough terds here to deal with. Edit 2: Turd is the correct spelling. Burt Reynolds is not a pussy!5 points

First, of all the ideas in my post, Elon's quote was of the least importance. Which of his predictions have been proven false? I'm sure there have been some, just not sure what they are. Second, you're a former AF nav who consistently expresses less than accurate assessments on a message board, mocking a guy that started his own successful car company and space program, based on his predictions. Given your self-assured knack for identifying irony and lack of self-reflection, how did you miss this one? LOL. Third, in this specific quote, where is the flaw? Would you say the world, as a whole, is trending toward an increasing level of chaos and conflict, or away from it? Type "Yes" if you agree with Elon. Type "No" if you'd like to make a prediction outside your "field of expertise".3 points

This! Someone should get ahold of the most gruesome of pictures/videos from Israel, I'm talking headless grandma's, burned children, grenades exploding in shelters full of innocent civilians, girls being raped by the Hamas militants and run them on a loop on a mobile billboard. Then drive them around college campuses with pictures of signatories interlaced in the loop saying these people support the people who did this. If you support them so much, own it.1 point

Elon very famously makes lots of very wild/bold forecasts that do not end up coming true, and yet he continues to confidently make predictions on many things both within and beyond his fields of expertise totally undeterred. He should follow his own advice!1 point

Sometimes; and probably with a statistical slant toward the COVID WFH crowd; probably nailed it with "average person". My Frau has been WFH since 2015. By any measure her productivity has increased since she left the office, been promoted above her BA credentials, above standard raises; there was a minor brouhaha a couple of years ago where she was an RCH from bouncing, resume polished ready to publish on Linkedin. Management fell all over themselves to keep her. *Maybe* overall she's been paid slightly under industry standard for the work she's been doing over the past eight years; what's kept her from actively putting her resume out over these years has been the QoWL; hard to beat being able to send the kids out the door in the morning, get most of your productivity done in gym attire, then be home for the kids getting off the bus in the afternoon. Was super convenient during the pre-school/kindergarten years! I think the COVID WFH crowd has treated the experience like substitute-teacher day, everyday. Productivity...if they feel like it.1 point

I mean, I'd be pretty pissed if I had a daily commute of 1.5 hours on the front/back end of work. I'd be equally as pissed if I had to work a 9-5 office job. It's one of the reasons I disliked being full time in the military, though ours was 0645-1730 (4 days/week). Groundhog day every day, to the same dingy building built in the early 50s as a fallout shelter (painted cinder block walls and no windows). In the winter it's drive to work in the dark and drive home in the dark. I genuinely disliked the repetitive nature of the work, even if the flying was a nice break from my office duties. This is one of the big reasons I've been a part timer nearly my entire career. Rona has really reshaped people's view on work/life balance. For some it's all they know now and going back to work in office is a shock. Many are opting to move along than go back to the office, and there are remote jobs for the taking if you have the skills. I know my gf will never go back...her job has already tried. They keep granting her "waivers" because she valuable (as SME in her field) and they know she isn't bluffing. Going into the office isn't an option because her employer is located 3 hours away. Of course this is her second career and not starting out like this broad. Anyway, all her friends are probably remote and living it up (according to their SM accounts anyway...another big issue) while she slogs it out with the rest of the suckers. I also don't envy the shitty economics situation (pay vs cost of living today) many of these kids find themselves in, especially anyone who works in the city. That said, after she finishes her little breakdown, she needs to do something about it, get a new skill, find work closer or get roommates and move into the city. And yes, I get it, all previous generations had to walk up hill, while fighting off manbearpig with one arm and starting a business with the other arm. Before college, I worked a construction job that started work a 0630 and often didn't finish the day until well after sundown. It sucked, I thought to myself this sucks, I was pissed about it, I just didn't have SM to vent about it lol. Of course I also actually did something about it. I wonder what she'll do.1 point

good ol' geopolitics. There'll never be peace in that god-forsaken (pun very much intended, as a secular humanist mind you) infertile soil part of the Levant. As to Hamas' angle, my bet is they're making an accelerationist (poor bet) play to get Israel to carpet bomb Gaza, and get all the critters to come out the woodwork. It's already started in the Golan Heights, again. The neoliberal west is pretty much in lockstep with the israeli status quo apparatus, so I think the guerrilla overplayed their hand, even from an accelerationist pov. Non-state actors tend to be short-sighted like that though. In the end, the apartheid will persist, the bystander pawns will perish on both sides of the border, the status quo will prevail. The Israeli/Palestinian chasm makes Anglos' handling of the Native American "question" seem courteous in the macro. Yes, I'm being slightly incendiary for effect, but it's not too far off. My 10 year old asked me where that was going on, while I was listening to it in the car. After I explained where the Levant was and a 5th grade explanation of the history of tensions, he promptly said to me: "oof, good thing we live in place where bombs are not falling on top of our houses". Small and salient observations thru a kid's eyes, for what many in the Americas take for granted indeed. I promptly and simply agreed with him. I certainly don't take his assertion for granted.1 point

Thatās actually genius bro. Interesting story relayed to me by NWC Dean: when the USSR fell a brief period of candor existed between our militaries and we sent various folks to Moscow who, among other things, got to read Soviet war plans. Anyway, they assessed certain NATO (non-US) fighter units as particularly troublesome in the event of a Fulda Gap scenario so the Soviets developed an unconventional solution: send Spetsnaz pre-invasion to murder them. Small commando teams burning down apartment buildings full of SQ pilots and families would neuter their combat effectiveness without jeopardizing the lesser skilled Soviet Air Forces. so yea, for OPSEC you should stay in a random AirBnB on every TDY. Itās worth a shot šŗšø1 point

Maybe you could pitch staying at a crash pad in the context of Agile Combat Employment and sell it like the dispersed basing of aircraft. When war with China kicks off isn't the Red Shit Dumpster River Inn full of upgrading MAF pilots exactly what they're going to be aiming the hypersonics at? Why put all your eggs in one basket when you can diversify.. and have hot tubs1 point

The most un-American thing ever that somehow is still legal. Every judge that has approved this happening and every agent that has actively sought this should all be tried for felony theft. There is no excuse for this.1 point

I just heard Elon Musk say this, and it's an interesting thought. āI think we are sleepwalking towards World War III. With one stupid decision after another. People need to do some self-reflection. If their forecasts did not come true, they should think that maybe the rest of their forecasts will not come true,ā - They turned off the lights. No supplies. There is apparently a ground invasion. Massive airstrikes leveling parts of the city. Earlier, they cut all internet and comms to Gaza. Still, horrific videos are still being circulated. I don't know that a war of this intensity, in a densely populated civilian area, has been fought when while the global population has this level of unregulated access to information regarding it. However you feel about either side, there is a high probability Israel is going to lose control of the narrative. Israel was given a strong hand to play, but are they overplaying it? My impression, based on the number of people in the streets around the world, is that if you multiply those numbers on both sides by their passion and motivation to act on their beliefs, is that this is going to get very ugly, and the disparity is huge. Israel wiping Gaza off the map may be an emotionally satisfying thought, but it's a fire that could ignite the world, and no one can forecast the result. https://x.com/jacksonhinklle/status/1718066605920235569?s=20-1 points
