Does anybody not think that this GO would have personally signed off on the punishment/negative admin actions of IPs for having consensual sex with students? As for whether or not this GO was having consensual sex with a direct subordinate, I don’t know…but he had to know it was wrong (on many levels) and it definitely enters the zone of negative command influence…just like with IPs and students, if the student said they felt pressured, then that’s what they go with. So if the allegations are supported with facts/he is convicted and he serves some jail time, I won’t have a problem with it.4 points

not defending the general at all, but i call BS on this: "Military prosecutors countered that given Stewart’s rank and power, the woman had no choice but to submit to his advances." GMAFB. sounds like consenting adults making adult decisions.4 points

Erdogan threatens Israel in a speech to massive crowd. He also speaks to the West in general. “Hey West, I ask you, do you want to reignite the war between the crescent and the cross?” Perhaps NATO can sub-in Ukraine for Turkey in a 1 for 1 swap. https://x.com/5Pillarsuk/status/1718335986743046332?s=203 points

FedEx is overmanned given their jet retirements. Spirit is only pausing its hiring for the winter season and JetBlue merger. My personal take is that FedEx is subcontracting with cargo carriers like Atlas/Omni/Kalitta given their reduced DOD workload. If they get busy again I expect FedEX to stop shrinking. Seems like they made some poor business decisions at the height of the COVID demand. I bet the Chinese buy it too, especially since the CEO they brought in is the former Glasair guy and that got sold to the Chinese. Really a shame for what’s arguably the premier experimental aircraft company. This also speaks to the larger issue of GA being close to a death knell in this country. The most popular kit company facing potential shutdown, new Cessna 172 and PA-28 family aircraft are north of a half million dollars and basically only bought by flight schools, and the legacy GA fleet is facing a reckoning on remaining in flight worthy condition. I was just recently tacitly involved in the attempted restoration of a Beech Sundowner. Now it doesn’t have the wide support that 172s and Pipers do, but it was a flying condition airplane that looked like it needed moderate restoration to bring it back to a like new condition. Turns out once things started getting dug into, the level of corrosion hidden throughout the airframe was far larger than one would have guessed. It was a full records and relatively well maintained aircraft too. Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft, etc… probably never imagined these planes would still be flying today, let alone make up the backbone of the actively flying fleet. With no affordable supply being put into the market it’s hard to see a sustainable future for GA.1 point

IDK man, but that's no bueno! Sounds like they're cash strapped big time, here's hoping they pull through! Shit, they need to pass around a collection hat to the Vans AF to keep it afloat.1 point

I don't know what that zipper is made out of but if they built airplanes out of that same materiel they would be indestructible1 point

No way! They're the kind of guys that shoot you 5 times in the leg and once in the gut and it takes 30 minutes to die an agonizing death. If i'm in front of a firing squad, give me 5 bullets to the brain.1 point

American decided to mandate the use of a bargain surgery marketplace network for all joint and spine surgeries, usurping the in/out-of-network inherent to the plan as a cost cutting measure after the new contract. Gotta watch these nerds like a hawk.1 point

@nsplayr, here's some Elon Musk news that actually is relevant to the discussion. https://x.com/MarioNawfal/status/1718353404035039660?s=201 point

First, of all the ideas in my post, Elon's quote was of the least importance. Which of his predictions have been proven false? I'm sure there have been some, just not sure what they are. Second, you're a former AF nav who consistently expresses less than accurate assessments on a message board, mocking a guy that started his own successful car company and space program, based on his predictions. Given your self-assured knack for identifying irony and lack of self-reflection, how did you miss this one? LOL. Third, in this specific quote, where is the flaw? Would you say the world, as a whole, is trending toward an increasing level of chaos and conflict, or away from it? Type "Yes" if you agree with Elon. Type "No" if you'd like to make a prediction outside your "field of expertise".1 point

Amen. That is definitely the takeaway from that video. It ain't over until it's over. Huge kudos to this pilot.1 point

You'd think, but there are people still driving in Texas with multiple DWIs! 🙄 My wife was on a jury where the accused had seven! 😡😡 I guess drive-thru liquor stores may be part of the problem! 🤠1 point

Patty is the real deal - it’s a shame folks want to remember someone for a single poor choice measured against the entirety of their lives. And I say this as a dude who has never drank a drop of alcohol in my life..1 point

JFC that guys needs a cold one! Edit: Who wants a helicopter ride? Edit 2: This dude never gave up Kudos. LOSS OF TAIL ROTOR EFFECTIVENESS (Uncontrollable) 1. Autorotate 2. Throttles-Flight Idle In the Huey, you were supposed to remember to roll the throttles off prior to the flare. So you don't increase torque and cause the aircraft to spin. I always thought, who the fuck is going to remember to roll the throttles off during the flare after they were just spiraling to their death? This dude appears to have left them on in the flare. Only critique. This guy had the balls to fly that beast all the way to the end and got to live. Never stop flying the aircraft!1 point

Man does that stir up an old memory. Airman in my squadron at Bergstrom AFB, TX was killed riding his motorcycle by a drunk driver who was awaiting trial for a previous DWI.0 points

This is why the sexual assault problem gets worse every year. All of you are more concerned about the 2% of cases that are false accusations than the 98% that did actually happen. Or the 60% of cases that don't get reported at all... with this attitude, it's no wonder victims don't want to speak up.-1 points

Two consenting adults f-cking TDY…yawn. I’m much more concerned about the judicial climate where consensual sex that is deemed a mistake afterwards can be weaponized. This same type of situation happened to a friend. He fought and was acquitted but lost his career. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app-1 points
