Overheard in ops from someone who’s flown both: Guppy is the better airplane, Fifi is the better office4 points

Some partisan race-baiter who poses as a journalist at Deadspin (whatever that is) concocts a story about some kid wearing blackface at a Chief's game and tries to shame the kid on social media. Epic Fail...turns out the kid is wearing Chief's colors and the headdress? Also, turns out the kid is bona fide and registered Native American. Many Chiefs fans are planning to wear black and red face paint to the next game in a show of support for this kid, who has been getting attacked by the woke left.4 points

Nice thanks for the point out. I have the Libby app, but was unaware of the DOD ID thing. Just logged in with my retiree ID, glad we still have access!2 points

The non-stop drumbeat of propaganda crowing Russia's (exaggerated) losses while never speaking of Ukraine's has gotten very tiresome. UAF are space marines that inflict casualties 30:1, yet they're chronically short of manpower and their average serving age is 45. Like, who actually falls for this? Can they at least be less annoying about it?2 points

Well, that ought to take of any morale that was left! If the public only knew how much Jack Daniels has helped forged their steely eyed killers...2 points

The level of woke stupidity knows no bounds. My son is an engineer for Texas Instruments. He does validations on chips produced and then writes spec sheets and user manuals for TI customers to use. After he writes these things, various departments review them for accuracy, etc. and make comments. So, he fires off his latest documents and the HR department makes the comment "can not use the term "disable" as it is not inclusive." In other woke news, the Daily Wire is releasing "Lady Ballers" tomorrow.2 points

At a certain point you realize that most people don't actually have political views. They have political positions. The difference is that a view requires research, dialogue, analysis, and for many things political, there's not a lot of reason for someone to do that. Why learn about abortion if you're not getting an abortion? Should the average American really have an opinion on Palestine when they don't even know where it is on a map? So whereas the military leadership class used to be conservative, it wasn't because they had conservative views, it was just because they wanted to be a part of the group of people who had conservative positions. Their superiors. Now that we are in a rapidly changing political environment thanks to the spread of populism, the military leadership class is suddenly seeming much more liberal than the lower ranks, because the political establishment of Washington is fiercely anti-populist, including most of the legacy Republicans. They were never conservative, and they're not truly liberals or progressives now. They're just yes-men. Groupies. Sycophants who will morph into whatever they believe will please their bosses most. And since Charlie Kirk runs on a platform of "government is the problem" and makes no exception for big-government Republicans, obviously the power players on Washington are going to despise him. And like good little soldiers hoping for a reward, the generals will follow suit, threatening the careers of anyone who dares question or criticize the political "leaders" the generals hope to please and one day join.2 points

I can just image the investigations that would ensure were I still a Wing Commander. I actually kept booze on my side table and frequently had my commanders sit in lawn chairs outside my office on Friday to drink and smoke cigars. I even had big parties at this secret place we called...shhh, don't tell the USA Today...the "Officer's Club".1 point

Sounds great! I'd also recommend To Kingdom Come, another good book on the bomber air war over Europe. Amazing what those young men went through. The Wrong Stuff, is another good/funny read about that time. Those numbers are probably close. I think the 8th AF alone lost ~26,000 men. To put that into perspective, we lost ~24,500 Marines in WW2.1 point

And Deadspin is refusing to retract the story. They also refuse to show the full picture, only the angle that shows black side of his face. I expect this family to come into some money very soon. Journalism is dead. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app1 point

I believe this is just for the IFT-R program. So like how peeps used to go to IFS (turned IFT) before UPT to fly the DA-20. This contract is for a helicopter IFT that uses bell 505s. the last I saw about this small companies had the contract and had their first IFT grads last year. The company I saw was called Brenner aviation down in Texas. it’s my understanding that the UPT next for helicopters only is currently running, but they still use the Huey and it’s still at Rucker1 point

Lying to your own people…so much freedom and democracy. I remember when progressives weren’t too happy when they said Bush was lying.1 point

This has quickly become one of the most useful threads in this forum. So much wisdom here. Should be required reading for new studs. Except the AOB/VSI thing.1 point
