Y'all are the sorriest bunch of pessimists Iâve ever seen, seriously. âDamn, the federal government and our foreign policy are so bad I just spent 20+ years working in the DoD and personally conducting American foreign policy.â đ¤Śââď¸ Freaking sack up. Donât be doomer Gen Z kids who think everything is inexorably fucked and they are to blame (bonus, everyone gets to fill in the they with whomever they want!). Be a good person and family member, be a good officer / pilot/ Commander / etc., be a good citizen and vote, run for office, etc. If something is broken try to fix it. You wonât always succeed but you should still try. Itâs not all hopeless, everyone in charge isnât just a moron in dire need of your brilliant counsel, but if you really think you can do it better then do it better. Talk is cheap, action isnât, but itâs well worth the cost. I was taught all this shit as a child, were you guys not? America is already great, weâre not going anywhere fast, and yes we have our flaws but modern western liberal democratic capitalism is the worst systemâŚexcept all the other ones. đşđ¸3 points

Her presence on the court is a tragedy and disgrace. It's shameful and embarrassing reading her dissents on Affirmative Action (SFA v Harvard) and the Dobbs rulings. Not because she's wrong or I disagree with her (and I do), but because in both cases, she makes no attempt to proffer any legal reasoning whatsoever, making an absolute mockery of her office. That said, she is fulfilling her actual purpose on the court. Twat status confirmed.2 points

Even more shocking when you examine SCOTUS Justice Jackson's questions today in oral arguments when she said out loud the position of our liberal friends - "My biggest concern is that your view has the First Amendment hamstringing the federal government in significant ways in the most important time periods..." Why yes it has you Fing TWAT Waffle! That was the freaking purpose of the 1st amendment.2 points

Nah, just negative on the government (in both parties) and my fellow citizens who no longer believe in wholesome values and personal responsibility.2 points

No more lectures. Iâm retired from that shitty hobby. Iâm an MQ-9 pilot, never been an ROTC instructor, so I consider myself well qualified to say Iâm âconducting foreign policy.â Many AFSCs can say the same whether you believe it or not. Again, Iâll say this and leave it to this. Many of yâall are sadly negative on the United States, a country I and I assume most of you have dedicated my life to serving in uniform. I tell the same thing to my zoomer daughter whoâs a bit of a doomer leftist: temper your criticism with a dose of reality. America has its flaws but overall I still find us to be the good guys the vast majority of the time. If you believe otherwise, honestly itâs better if you are retired or choose to move on from uniformed service ASAP. TYFYS in both meanings of the phrase.2 points

Even then, it's not always approved in the ANG. Our Army TAG denied it for our old WG/CC, who would have been a great asset with a star at state. Reason for denial? Because he's Army and they make a lot of fucked up decisions lol. In the end probably the best thing for my boss, having one job is one of the best things going. To the OP. It's tough enough being a part timer when you're an airline pilot, which is the easiest road for DSGs. Our guys who did other jobs, struggled even more. Funny enough, the guy who got the most grief from his employer, worked for the USAF as a civilian. The only way I'd consider doing this path is if you live local to both jobs as any commuting makes you're life infinitely more miserable. Even then I'd think long and hard why you're hanging around. It's a lot of sacrifice for you and your family. If you're going to an air airline you'll give up the ability to control your schedule, but you probably wouldn't really need that much anyway. It's certainly not something I'd hang around after having 20 years TAFMS. Many states wouldn't even hire you because of that alone. Heck, we sometimes couldn't even keep our own people once that have their 20 unless they're on a command track. Just my humble opinion. But either stay AD if you still have itch to serve or just retire. Enjoy the check/tricare and the insane amount of free time you'll have with only having one job. As someone who is recently retired after staying a few years after my 20 (as a DSG, not AGR), I understand not wanting to fully separate. However, it was a massive stress relief when I retired. Trust me, you'll find things to fill you're time. Best of luck in your decision.1 point

It's run and designed by lawyers. That's why. Currently skimming a book titled "Bodyguard of lies" about the deception program during WWII to conceal the allies true plans for invading Europe. Book touches on how many people within the German war machine were intent on a coup and looked to gain allied assurances that they'd be treated favorably after the war. In the end, the US merely used them to validate and provide cover for the intelligence provided by ULTRA. The US resolved that the "outcome of the war would be determined by force of arms," not negotiation. Last time we "won" a war is when we decided that we weren't going to negotiate the outcome with the people who started it. Seems to have worked well for us. Doesn't seem like a strategy developed by someone who's primary field was studying laws.1 point

Refreshing to hear someone recognize this with a good plan in place to lead for the future within their organization, rather than stick around past their usefulness just to be in charge.1 point

Appreciate the words Springer-- definitely a ton of work, most of it dealing with USAF bureaucracy, but totally worth it to honor an warrior's legacy. We've got at least two jets now, hoping for two more ponied up soon to round out a four-ship. DFW ATC has been amazing-- said we could get a few thousand feet for the pull up-- for a Hog, that's all we'll need. We make the run right across the southern approach / departure corridor into DFW, which should be interesting to say the least but those guys have been unbelievably helpful so far. If we can get a tanker to help us out with a pre and post TOT topoff, that would be greatly appreciated and thanked with the appropriate gift of some fine adult beverages delivered to the crews. You know, for the effort. It's a Friday afternoon flight, so we'd take that into consideration in the selection of fine beverages to say thanks with.1 point

Be careful out there guys. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is warning there is about to be a flood of disinformation threatening our democracy. And Anthony Blinken knows disinformation when he sees it. https://judiciary.house.gov/media/in-the-news/biden-campaign-blinken-orchestrated-intel-letter-discredit-hunter-biden-laptop1 point

Who here said America isn't great? It's a feeble attempt at a strawman argument. We're criticizing those who are leading the country. Why can't you make that distinction? We were forced out of one of two strategic anti-terrorist bases on the African continent while our former host cozies up to Russia. It was errors from senior leadership that lead to an this undesirable outcome. They actually are to blame. Because non of us spent our careers trying to reach a high level position in the DoS, we're not allowed to criticize them? Weren't you an ROTC instructor or something? How were you personally conducting foreign policy? I don't personally hold office, but my mother is state level house representative and my next door neighbor and former employer is a state senator. I am involved in both of their campaigns continuously. Things go fairly smooth in our state, but I do occasionally interact with my US representatives at certain events. I've pleaded with them on certain issues and if I get an honest answer, it's always the same. If you don't compromise your principals and cut deals, you're sidelined. If you think you can show up to DC, be good person, and make the country a better place, you're the most naive person on the face of the planet. Look what happened to @congressman. By all accounts, a fairly decent dude when he was elected, had an emotional breakdown, remained broken, compromised, was used, and was tossed aside. Given that you have a tendency to adopt the official narrative as your personal heartfelt opinion, and gleefully cheerlead things like mask mandates and forced vaccinations, you would likely do very well in DC. Probably better than @congressman. So why haven't you? Because our leadership is doing so well they don't need your help? I expect lectures to us in the threads about migration, inflation, etc, and that we shouldn't complain because everything is awesome and someone somewhere else has it worse.1 point

Thatâs the secret you donât really get until later in your careerâŚyou canât do it by yourself. And every community needs studs so donât think because someone is flying a Viper or Tanker instead of a Raptor that they are less than.1 point
