  1. Why? I'll be blunt, this just feels like you saying something you don't believe to sound moderate. Walz is one of the most progressive governors in the US. The Trump policy position is one of the most moderate in recent Republican history. So exactly which Republican would you support over Harris, and what are the policy differences between that Republican and Walz that would put you in that position? Or do you just know nothing about Walz? That would be pretty standard for an American voter.

  2. I am shocked and saddened to report our friend and longtime forum member Danger41 passed away yesterday after a freak accident. Many of us knew him in real life and it would be an understatement to say he was an American hero. He was an incredible pilot, officer, mentor, weapons officer and a friend to all. More importantly, he was a dedicated husband and father. I had the honor of mentoring him throughout his career and was with him at Nellis the night he put his patch on...there are not enough words to describe how good of a person he was. This is an absolute gut punch and a reminder that every day is a gift, never miss a chance to tell a friend or family member you care. ***** All - Adding an update along with the link to a GoFundMe for his family. https://gofund.me/1ecfa239 As I mentioned above Matt "Macho" Anderson was a great human being. He attended and played football at South Dakota State before going to OTS and then on to UPT. Matt initially flew F-15Cs before he was TAMI-21'd to the U-28. He absolutely crushed it as a U-28 pilot where he quickly upgraded to instructor, attended WIC and eventually became WIC Cadre at the 14th WPS. He was known as the consummate Weapons Officer - Humble, Credible, Approachable. More than anything he would want to be remembered as a great husband and father. Macho leaves behind four children and an incredible wife. If you are so inclined say a prayer for him and his children who were also injured in the accident. Nickle on the grass my friend. 🥃

  3. Copy. I was hoping there'd be gambling for booze between BO members. I jump at every chance. One of the many things that makes this forum awesome! So far everyone has paid up, minus one dude who I let off the hook because he was salty 😂. Remember, if we aren't having fun in these posts we're doing it wrong. You're welcome!

  4. Damn. My last PM on here was from him 8 days ago, replying to a message I sent him in response to a post about lodging options in SA for PIT. Seemed like a great dude. Life is short. 🥃

  7. Maybe the Booze Bet I won from ya about when POTUS would step down? Even though I was off by a few days, but you were determined to pay. So I’ll be drinking it this week. Thanks TAC

  9. Sadly, we all know the answer to this one: The Democratic and Republican Party!.. but better. No, really; they’re totally gonna turn it around this time. It’s time to get serious about ranked choice voting and open primaries.

  10. Taiwanese U-2 pilot Johnny Shen passed away at 92. He served with the Black Cat Squadron from 1968-1973, flying high-risk missions. After retiring as a Colonel in 1977, he joined China Airlines, later transferring to EVA Airlines. His graduation gift was a dedicated military career, where he made significant contributions to aviation. He eventually moved to Vancouver, Canada, where he spent his retirement. Shen's legacy as a daring pilot will be remembered.

  11. I know some will find this shocking (Not), but Cat Five ALREADY has an IG complaint at USAFA. As the story has been told to me, just days after taking over he decided to make an impromptu visit to the Field House. The football team had just completed practice when he walked in. He held everyone at attention for 20 minutes while he bloviated and threatened (his standard MO). The team was in standing at attention in various states of dress, with many of the cadets butt ass naked...he held them there at attention likely meat gazing the entire time. Well done USAF...well done, nothing but the best for our future leaders.

  12. Never met him, but his contributions here were thoughtful and interesting, and funny. I can only imagine how much better he was in person. Very sad to hear this news. 🥃

  13. I was you. I threw it as a hail marry, and enlisted at 30 hoping it would matter on some of my apps and I felt I needed to serve (builds character). Flying fighters was my dream since I was about 4 so I said F it and pushed one last time. I think this answer depends on a few variables: Quick Summary: Enlisted with BA/MS in engineering, 1600 hours, airline job offer. Normal dude, like hockey, cars, skiing etc. I had interviewed for fighters and got F*d over, but that is another story. Bad luck and timing. Summary (Crew Chief): Basic (2 months) varies but for me sucked, put a strain on my wife. But it's a necessary hazing. There's some really good people, and some real weirdo's. Look out for the good people, have their backs. Don't get a bed near the hallway light like I did, unless you do not want to sleep for 2 months, and get sick for half of it. You won't wanna go to medical either because they'll just hold you there/roll you back and extend your stay. Tech (3 months) school at Sheppard sucks. They treat you like a child, MTLs power trip and don't realize that not everybody there is 19. Some of us hold down multiple professional careers and being there is a tricky sacrifice. I had been gone every weekend flight instructing the past 2 years and barely seen my wife prior to enlisting. I spent thousands on rental cars, hotels and plane tickets for her to visit for just 2 day visits and prevent a divorce. The fact that married individuals/people with kids get lumped into a dorm like its college is beyond stupid. My wife hated the BS, and I agree with her. I put this experience into the "reason not to reenlist" bucket. AND I was lucky and had a good class and instructor. Don't break their stupid rules, they'll keep you there for months (aka away from your family) as punishment. Additional Training: Way better, actually productive. Lucky enough to get another instructor who doesn't waste time. Get your own room, don't have MTL up ass. Get to play with fighters a little, if you love them you love them. Make it fun. All in, it'll cost you a year of your life. I've heard thru the grape vine that over 29 nobody cares, you are too old and you aren't getting sent to UPT for fighters (see per 144 FW) If you are single, or don't care where you'll live, and haven't dumped your own money and time into all your civilian flight training, you'd be better off applying to the AD board IMO. "Worst case" even if you were set on fighters, they train you to fly a heavy, you make the best of it, and punch when your commitment is up. It does sting wrenching on a jet you're itching to fly. Maybe you'd get lucky and interviewed by O Face...but with fighter UPT shortages ain't lookin to hot even if someone somewhere does think a 30 year old is worth it. The shortages are probably the final nail in my coffin for sure. 1 more edit to add: If I ever DID miraculously get into the seat, understanding the enlisted force would make me a far better officer/leader than had I not seen it.
