  1. Is it your contention that prior to the Revolutionary War, the economic modalities, especially in the southern colonies, could be most aptly described as agrarian pre-capitalist?

  2. While that very well maybe true, let's not forget that some SF Airmen are fully dedicated to the craft. I am reminded of the SF bike cop (apparently we used to have those) who biked over a mile to the reports of an active shooter... then engaged from 50+ yards with an M-9 against a dude with a MAK-90, and won. Not trying to do a total thread derail, but a piece of history with remembering. https://www.police1.com/active-shooter/articles/10-lessons-from-the-fairchild-afb-shooting-11AZrSqTp4IM3diw/

  5. Yes sir. And be called up when there is a legit shooting match worth fighting. Not this continuous game of whack-a-mole/nation building that we played for two decades with no discernable objective. Switching between those planes would have been mostly cake, especially piston to piston or jet to jet. Their systems we're mostly the same, even in the 100 series days and were fairly basic. If you can fine a 30 wire in a P-51, you can find it in an F-84. I've talked with a few guys who flew P-47s up through F-105s. The earlier transitions we're often nothing more than reading a manual and a cockpit checkout...goodluck! Today...not so much. I always said that if my unit had transitioned to the F-35, I would have rode the Viper out until the last one left the ramp, then retired. No desire to learn another military jet at that age/time in my career.

  7. No I was referring to line guys. Still saw a bunch that I wouldn’t want showing up to any gunfight though. Same with most any career field.

  8. Haha... if you ever went to M9 qual and watched the young SF Airmen shoot with you, you would know this is a pipe dream.

  10. I think the better way to state this is SOCOM/AFSOC aren't the main show in the high end near peer fight. This whole "identity crisis" or whatever you want to call it that SOCOM and AFSOC are currently going through is kinda amusing to me. For the from '01 to '21 SOCOM was the show, budgets were huge, and the command grew quite a bit. It was also made very clear to me a as young guy, when asked what our mission was while we were simultaneously supporting OEF/OIF/GWOT, that the correct answer was "to do what the fuck we're told to do", and your job was to find a way to make it happen. I've heard the phrase "maintain relevance" thrown around quite a bit by senior guys in AFSOC this last year. What they really mean is they're worried our budgets will shrink because we're not leading the charge on night one into China/Russia. AFSOC's part in the high end near peer fight right of bang is limited for a multitude of reasons. IMO, AFSOC will be in a supporting role, which historically is where SOF usually existed prior to 2001. There's absolutely things we can contribute to that fight, the discussion of most of them exceed the classification of this forum. But the idea that we're going to be a main LOE is pretty silly with our current equipment. We have tons to contribute left of bang, and the C-VEO fight isn't going away anytime soon. There's also a ton of smart, motivated people working to find ways for AFSOC to support the high-end fight. I think AFSOC/SOCOM needs to calm down a bit with the "identity crisis" thing.

  11. amazing how kamala went from the most unpopular vice president in history, to suddenly a media darling front runner for president. who hasn't won any vote for nomination, just picked by the big bosses in their soft coup. "defending democracy!"

  12. I'm voting Trump because I mostly approved of his policies while POTUS. I won't vote for Harris because I totally disapprove of the Biden-Harris policies. See, it's easy to make a decision without making excuses.

  13. I’ve taken “personal quality” out of the equation. They’re all shit, so it doesn’t matter. What are the policies (past and expected) and what are the outcomes (real or projected). Do they support general American principles or not? Thats what people should be voting based on. Voting for person X solely because it’s not person Y is fucking retarded. If that’s how you feel, just don’t vote.
