  1. Valid, but there's more nuance: some of us volunteered not because of promises on the back end but because being at war (in whatever capacity)was the objective. I did 18 deployments, including a year as flying advisor (not a hand though), and volunteered for them all. I'd do it again; being relevant (even when dealt a losing hand) is the draw for some people. Losing was a tragedy I am still processing, but I would hate myself had I acted differently. Certainly not judging anyone else. The Hands program was garbage; by the end they hid their status from GIRoA who deeply resented PAK. Lol, pentagon is full of idiots. My takeaway from 21 years: figure out who you are and what you like, then do that. The best way to serve is in a capacity suited to your personality and innate characteristics. Pretend to be other than as you are: you'll be miserable & your team will know.

Electronic Warfare Spooks Airlines, Pilots and Air-Safety Officials If you don't have access to the WSJ, log onto the USAF MWR library website using your DoD Identification Number and DOB, then go under 'Find A Resource' and search for it... https://daf.dodmwrlibraries.org/ By the way, I already checked...there are no gun magazines listed! 🤬🤬🤬

  7. Today to hired: 2 yrs (most do more than that, but we’ll assume 2 for now) Hire to actually start UPT: 1-2 years, best case currently UPT to FTU grad: 2.5 years Even before the current UPT slot shitshow, it was 3-4 yrs from UPT board to showing back up to squadron. That does not account for the time spent putting apps in, rushing, and interviewing.

  8. Between post-IFF delays, any DNIF or performance issues, and the biggie, the delay to get to UPT start class via Guard slots in present circumstances, and yeah a 5 year development window to 11F TI/MQT is not that out of the zone.

  9. Nope, it’s a new way forward! Haven’t you seen Kamala’s ads? She wasn’t part of this administration for the last 4 years.

  10. Honest answer: I don’t think you have a realistic chance at ANG/AFRC fighters. Age, scores, 16 hrs of flight time, etc. Even if you maxed out scores and had hundreds of hours, your age is nearly a guaranteed deal breaker. If you were hired tomorrow, you wouldn’t show back up to the squadron until age 40…age 40 is very old to be a LT in a fighter squadron and starting at the bottom. Now account for your competition being nearly half your age with phenomenal apps, no kids or businesses to manage, etc. Lastly, UPT slots are in a drought for ANG for the next couple years-ish, so really you’d be 42-43 by the time you’re back at a squadron, and that’s still assuming you got hired in 1-2 years. Honestly I don’t think you’d enjoy that hypothetical life, even if you think you would at this moment in time. My advice is accept reality and do not burn your time/money rushing fighter units. Chase fun/exciting flying on the civ side. It’ll take some time to get there, but there is a lot of awesome flying out there that is exciting and challenging - don’t need a fighter to check those boxes. I cannot speak for heavy units, perhaps they are more open to someone in your position. If you have a strong desire to fly mil, then maybe go that route. Hopefully some heavy bros in the ANG/AFRC will chime in. I know none of this is what you want to hear, but it’s not helpful for someone to blow smoke up your ass.

  11. Just take that sweet deployment or assignment. Trust me, I won't you screw you. How many dudes had that happen to them? More gents than just P Diddy got fucked in the backside. At least P Diddy liked it.

  13. No judgement, I just have never understood the thought process of volunteer for a shit deal because it’ll “guarantee” you something good on the back side.

  14. Different strokes bro. I would never have personally volunteered for that program but some did. FWIW, I have lots of friends who found their Sq/CC time to be a highlight of their career. Sure it’s a shitload of work, but if you don’t lead scared and truly give a shit about your people over your career you can accomplish a lot. I also know a lot of guys that really enjoyed SDE. Maybe not AWC, but NPS, NWC, Eisenhower, NVWC etc are in good locations and some (like NPS) give you a legitimate higher education. I also personally was never interested in O-6 but I don’t judge people that are. We need good dudes/dudettes doing that shit. I was very very lucky in my career to, for the most part, have had very good Sq and Grp leadership. Towards the end the O-6 level leadership was starting to become uneven. Some of the people that were getting pushed at the O-4/5 level I didn’t find impressive either but some were genuinely great. I just retired so it’s not my problem anymore but I’m hopeful that the simple pendulum will swing back to the center. CAT 5 getting shitcanned in my command was at least a start.

  17. EXCLUSIVE: New Docs Shed Light On Air Force’s ‘Goal’ To Reduce ‘White Male Population’ Joining Officer Ranks The Air Force tried to dodge the first FOIA request so the Center To Advance Security In America (CASA) sued them...suddenly a pile (hundreds) of documents fell out of the sky. The new approach is to cull the white guys...they are not even trying to hide the intent. Merit and national Security be damned, the progressive agenda must rule everything we do. Austin should have been fired when he went MIA...CQ is the exact same douche canoe he was as the Commandant of the Weapons School. Our Air Force is broken...we have psychopaths like CQ and Slife at the top, Cat5 running the zoo and a SECDEF and CSAF more focused on racial quotas than lethality and combat capability.
