The worst thing Trump can do is put in people because others want them in and/or need to be rewarded. This is how you get Mayor Pete as Transportation Secretary. Trump made this mistake in his first term and he told Rogan he won’t do it again. So no, Haley should definitely not be in his campaign…again. Trump needs to put people in his cabinet that he can trust and that he truly believes can lead and solve problems….and definitely not anybody from the DC ruling class.5 points

I hope that happens, and I think any GO is senior. I have some names to suggest if he's looking. And Miley should be pulled from retirement just to get demoted.4 points

Pandemic turnout could be an interesting avenue to explore. 81,000,000 votes down to ~62,000,000 votes DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. That is inexplicable. It cannot be hand-waived. That is an unbelievable difference in voter turnout. You're talking 20,000,000 people showing up, and then not showing up. That doesn't happen without a very clear reason. Period.4 points

The Dems stepped in it again by shoving a candidate down America's throat. They should have kicked Biden out a year ago. Or held an open convention when he finally yielded. The Ds haven't learned yet and I doubt they will change. Anytime one opens their mouth, the reply should be, their actions got Trump reelected. I 99.9% do not expect Trump to govern sensibility. All he will have is Yes Men, lots of gorgeous and beautiful Yes Men, the best Yes Men in America. They're going to say yes so much, they'll get tired of saying it. Ukraine might be fucked, pending EU support in lieu of ours, unless Zelenski praises the shit out Don with lots of flattery. Get ready for a trade war with Chiner if Trump gets his way. Might be time to rebalance the ol portfolio. That must be why Warren Buffet has been dumping Apple, etc and going cash. I'm gonna snag that new TV at costco this week. Last I saw, House is still not decided. If Ds get it, that might a sufficient roadblock to crazy shit. Probably not. Some of you might have gotten an AP/Fox poll a few days ago. I dediced to open and play along. Sure enough, 1st Q was on biggest issue and Democracy was a choice. Yesterday, I saw soundbites from that poll in the news. Future of Democracy was the top issue. Abortion was towards the bottom, and Foreign Policy was last. In my calendar, I noted the cost of a gallon of 87 Unleaded for today; $2.66. I'll report back next year. I don't see govt really manipulating that item as well as campaign slogans say they can, but that's what Americans want. Oh, and there's a pesky little criminal sentence that's pending for Trump, of which he can't pardon himself as it's state level. That little circus deserves some popcorn. BODNers, thanks for playing in Election 2024, it's been interesting. Beers4 points

If you look further back Kamala’s turnout numbers aren’t the anomaly, they’re a reversion to the mean. Hillary got 65M in 2016 and kamala got 68M this year. This just shows how much of an anomaly 2020 was. With the George Floyd riots and covid bringing out tons of low propensity voters and TDS at its peak, 2020 was always going to be a record year for Dems. 20M is a crazy number but it just shows how insane the country was at that point. Everything felt like it was on a knifes edge2 points

Cotton. Massie. Paul (Ron or Rand). Gowdy. Beyond that I'm not sure. Positions: I don't care. We just need authentic people in office now. We have to get away from the longhouse and bureaucracy.2 points

I’m hoping they take the NFA to SCOTUS and they strike it down. It is a gross violation of the constitution and not that it should matter, but there is objectively no evidence it has accomplished anything it was supposedly created for.2 points

Agreed. Overall the GOP handed the Dems their ass in this cycle. This is a referendum on the Dems and their bowing to the insane progressives the last several years. I am glad the GOP has total control for now, BUT I do not like that long term. I sincerely hope the Dems actually learn from their colossal mistakes over the last several years and move back towards the center with reasonable candidates. Maybe we can get back to a more balanced fed govt in 4-8 years, I hope.2 points

But it's so much more than that. First (R) president to win the popular vote in two decades. An indisputable electoral college victory. Huge gains within minority groups. Retaking the Senate and most likely holding the House. It's the closest thing to a mandate a presidential candidate can win in the modern era. This will greatly reduce "the resistance," especially from within the conservative sphere as many will be forced to reevaluate their future and strategy. It's still a tragedy that we're in a point in history where Donald Trump is the leader of the free world, but it's as good as the tragedy could have gone. We're still on a collision course with fiscal and monetary doom, but perhaps we can at least put out some fires.2 points

This is contrary to much of the 'get out the vote' movements, but I personally think a low voter turnout is not inherently a bad thing. The level of ignorance of many voters is absolutely shocking. If you don't take the time to become informed enough to make a reasonable decision, then you shouldn't vote. I also agree that many voters were likely completely uninspired by either option and simply decided it wasn't worth their time if a ballot didn't magically show up in their mailbox unrequested.1 point

It's anomalous in national politics, and definitely bears exploring. The only thing known for certain: it can't be fraud. Biden was the most popular POTUS in our history and the election process is airtight.1 point

Isn’t he one of the guys who says that Trump will be a fascist dictator/Hitler? I’m guessing he’s getting his affairs in order to move out of the country…after all, who would voluntarily decide to stay and live under control of such a horrible monster?1 point

I doubt there is one yet. Putin knows Trump is going to impose one so he's signalling he's ready to negotiate. The solution has never been difficult. Divi up the territory that's been fought over, call it a draw, keep Ukraine neutral, and agree to hold elections free from Russian and USA influence.1 point

Trump lost by how many million last time, and won by how many this time? That swing accounts for a significant portion. Also the left went from defeating the literal devil in their minds, to supporting someone who had the charisma of a wet paper bag. That accounts for some more. Further the overall turnout driven by the pandemic probably resulted in a lot of people who only voted because they were bored not voting this time around. I'm not saying it's not significant, but it's also not inexplicable.1 point

You could (I would) say that I'm a "math inclined" person. A 30% deviation from the norm with large numbers like this is what you call a signal. It's not noise. There is 100% something there. What is it? I can't say. But there is a signal there.1 point

Dude. For real on this. I was NEVER a guy who doubted the previous election...NEVER. Ever. Now, when I see a quarter of the votes missing from a previous parties' election it does raise questions. What the fuck happened. It's not a necessary conclusion that there was cheating, or even that cheating was the most likely occurrence. I'm not saying that. But, it is absolutely a WILD and INSANE outlier that should be studied and understood. 80M votes to 60M votes says something earth-shattering. Earth shattering.1 point

I’m still hoping that suppressors will be taken off the NFA list, but I definitely don’t think the GOP will due it via legislation…still a chance I guess with the courts, but I’m not holding my breath.1 point

You know as I stood in line to vote yesterday, I thought back to 2005 and Iraq's first election post Sadam. No armored vehicles surrounded my polling location, and I felt pretty sure a VBIED wasn't going to plow into the parking lot. What a country we have.1 point

If he was smart he would bring Nicki Halley in to be Sec State. Would not be surprised to see him bring Chris Miller back to be the SECDEF. FBI won't change unless he fires Wray, he still has seven years left on his term...that being said he does have a propensity to fire people and Wray has been part of the broken FBI machine.1 point

On 27 Oct 1954, 70 years ago this Sunday, the U.S. Air Force got its first black general officer when Gen Benjamin Oliver Davis, Jr., was promoted to Brigadier General (temporary grade). The promotion would be made permanent in 1960, and he would eventually retire from the Air Force as a Lieutenant General. In 1998, President Clinton advanced him to a full (four-star) General. General Davis Jr. broke many barriers and accomplished many “firsts” during his career, such as when he became the first black officer to attend Air War College in 1950 or when he became the first black wing commander of an integrated wing in 1953. He originally earned his pilot’s wings in 1942, and participated in WWII with the Tuskegee Airmen, commanding the 99th Fighter Squadron and later the 332nd Fighter Group as a whole. In the photo below, his father, Gen Benjamin O. Davis, Sr. (who was the first black general officer in the Army and in the Armed Forces as a whole) is pinning a Distinguished Flying Cross to him (when he was then a Colonel) at Ramitelli Airfield in Italy in Sep 1944. He earned the DFC for a Jun 1944 bomber escort mission where he managed to lead his outnumbered fighter escorts in defending an Allied heavy bomber formation against approximately 100 enemy fighters.
