  1. I don't think people who have never been falsely accused of a crime, and acquitted, understand the "innocent until proven guilty." They're also the dipshit who don't realize how easily it is to be accused of a crime and fuck up your personal and professional life.

  2. Here we go again. If innocent until proven guilty is a technicality for you, then your evidence-free initial response to COVID seems to be the standard by which we should judge you. I'm old enough to remember when the Democratic party called Brett Kavanaugh a gang rapist based on absolutely zero evidence, including the newly-rejected vice president. So pardon me if I choose to trust our founding-principals on the assessment of guilt rather than the oft-corrupted media complex when deciding if Gaetz is a child rapist. Until the sin of the Kavanaugh hearing is confessed and atoned for, I won't be trusting *any* accusations of guilt from Democrats unless I see the evidence myself. You know, the same way I literally saw the Hunter Biden laptop materials with my own eyes. Why is it you pop up here only to make the absolute dumbest arguments?

  3. Laptop - real as admitted by the FBI. Gaetz allegations investigation not enough to charge - also FBI. If there is proof of crimes committed then charge him, convict him, and I'll gladly join the firing squad. Unsubstantiated anonymous accusations which seem common in the last couple years or rumors do not a criminal make but do make for great reputation destroying MSM fodder.

  4. I am guessing and would not be surprised if there were bad things in the report and while I agree with you in principle, we've already lived through two years of a the system bending the rules to punish political opponents. Keep in mind, he was already investigated by DOJ and they decided NOT to pursue charges, seems like the system taking two bites at the apple to punish him politically. He is (or was), my rep and I do not care for him. But I do care for the rule of law and while I think he is the wrong choice for AG, I am vehemently against changing the rules simply because we don't like him.

  6. If anyone has questions about CSO stuff and UCT, airframes, etc, hit me up. Got picked up last year and just started training so I can get you some up to date info on what training and potential airframes are (always changing it seems)

  9. Hey you walnut, this isn't your strong suit but try thinking from a perspective other than your own. I understand why you don't support Trump over Harris. Obviously I think it's the wrong decision, but I have the cognitive capacity to view it from your perspective based on what you've said. Are you too stupid to do this, or are you just too hurt from the loss to do anything but snipe right now? I sincerely hope that the rest of your party, or better put, the people who think like you do absolutely nothing to analyze the constitutional failings of "their side." Because nothing at this point would make me happier than 4 years of trump followed by 8 years of JD Vance. You had a literal cartoon of a toxic progressive running for president against Donald Trump. That's why Trump won. If you sincerely think that a riot at the Capitol is the most dangerous threat to the Constitution in the past decade or so, then you just aren't paying attention. Some of us are familiar with and care about the entire Constitution, not just the parts that are convenient to our political narrative. I have two candidates who selectively favor parts of the Constitution/BoR. The Democrats far and beyond threaten more of, and more important parts. When the Republicans start threatening all of the norms of Congress, the executive branch, and the supreme Court, then I will wholeheartedly agree with you. But you are pretending like Donald Trump started all of this, when in fact he is just a response to the constitutional disregard of progressives for the past 20ish years.

  13. Marine Corps Blames Pilot Error for Crash of Malfunctioning F-35 in South Carolina Forest Kind of a fucked up situation with a non-aviator Commandant reaching in to roll this dude long after the fact. A quick summary of events, some of you may know more: 1. Crap Weather 2. Dude went missed approach 3. While on going missed his HMD glitches three times going blank - the report indicates no attitude information (assuming in the HMD), but does not say nothing about primary displays 4. The report says he lost his transponder AND radios 5. "With no visible reference to the horizon or ground, and unsure of which flight instruments he could trust, he perceived that the aircraft was still not responding to his commands to convert -- and therefore was out-of-controlled flight," 6. If you read the report (which is heavily redacted), they place the blame on the pilot "The investigation concluded that the mishap was a result of "pilot error" in that Del Pizzo incorrectly diagnosed the out-of-control flight emergency and "ejected from a flyable aircraft -- albeit under extremely challenging cognitive and flight conditions." 7. The report recommends NO punitive action against the pilot. 8. Leadership reviews the report, puts him back on status and sends him to a follow on command. 9. 100 days into new Command the Commandant does a second review of the report and decides to mort this guy in what can best be described as a perception kill. 2,000' in bad weather with a malfunctioning jet and your brain stem can't determine what is up and what is down...hard to blame a dude for punching because he is Spacial D.

  14. Well done! That is pure reality and thank you for sharing. No one knows when your times up so enjoy everyday as much as possible. Too many ways to unknowingly depart the fix which is an absolute. Fortunately I myself have been blessed beyond what I deserve and know it. Went thru a normally inconsequential surgical procedure last summer which turned into a debacle (not the medical teams fault, things go awry at times.) Although it was a bit disturbing, my transition to a strong OneLife viewpoint nearly a decade ago stayed the course afterwards. Airline wise it will be different for me than most as I will most likely miss this job as I enjoy most of the attributes that it brings as it fits like a glove beyond the so called work itself. Having two to three weeks off in between or more and wanting to jump back in says a lot. Rather be lucky than good especially when you might be no good 😉 *May you find your sweet spot and relish the time you have. Not everything needs to be rushed. “Live Like You Were Dying” - Tim McGraw song makes sense.

  15. I always get a kick out of saying "dude" to someone, which I use ubiquitously like you do, and realizing from the response that some captain has his panties in a wad from being called dude instead of "Captain." There's a subset of these tools that refer to each other online by "first officer" and "captain" in every interaction. Obviously you don't see a lot of the ex-military guys doing it, because they all realize that their airline title doesn't represent a fraction of what their military title (as a bunch of drunk twenty-something year olds) represented. But it's still strange to watch.

  17. Not sure on how displacements will fall quite yet. SWAPA is working the numbers. Our schedule research guys are on it and are great about getting the projections out there when the company won’t. That being said, our D terminal in BNA is expanding further to the east. I was surprised by the construction going in there last week having been away a month or so. All indications are that we’ll be continuing to ramp up there. It’s hard to speculate, but I won’t be surprised if we don’t see further drawbacks in the near term…then sudden panic in a year or two when we don’t have the manpower. It’s like the place is run by a bunch of AF guys.

  18. Long forgotten as my goal was to retire early anyway. Stayed single in a target rich environment, no kids, lived well BYM, and retired at 59. Enjoyed the job but have never missed it. Multi millionaire DAL brother in-law recently found out he has cancer two years passed age 65 retirement. Changes everything.

  19. Yeah the CAL/UAL one was a nasty one at my squadron back in 2011-2013. We had a boatload that took long MLOA while the lists integrated. Pretty heated stuff among so called squadronmates. A bit embarassing as an external observer tbh, given the fact they had no control over the process, and the personal aspersions were nothing more than impotent rage. Things settled as they always do, the world moved on, and they're still richer today than yesterday and will retire as multimillionaries anyways. Boo hoo.

  21. Great words Lord! I'd add that after 1st year pay, learn to budget on min line guarantee (65 hours at DAL) and use the rest to as funny money for toys, upgrading to 1st class ticket for vacation, and otherwise splurging on the living a great life now. When rona hit, I remember flying with a 330FO that was freaking out becuase he "needed" 85 hours/month to maintain his lifestyle. I can't imagine living like that and putting that stress on myself. This may be controversial to some, but you do not HAVE to pay for your kids college. Especially if it means you're gone 18 days/month and has a detrimental impact on your marriage.

  22. Delta is still conducting interviews. Although the talk has been 1000ish pilots in 2025, it'll most likely be somewhere around attrition numbers (~540). For everyone's sake, I hope that number is low. A buddy of mine just received a CJO last week and I've been waiting to start at Delta since I received my CJO back in April, fingers crossed I'll start in January since the last class (October) invite for 2024 went out. I would expect that they'll train most of the pilots in the first quarter, then training will slow, especially for the Summer and November/December months.

  23. Sorry I don't know how calendars work. 2026, not 2025. I don't think any of the airlines are going to do a meaningful amount of hiring next year. I don't know the numbers at Delta or United, but American is absolutely overstaffed on pilots based on the number of planes we have and the passenger traffic. I think passenger traffic is going to decrease next year, not by some catastrophic amount, but it only takes a little to hit the airlines pretty hard. We have about 850 retirements next year. If we hire less than 500 pilots then I would consider that bad news. Less than 259, really bad news. I expect the really bad news. I couldn't put my finger on it because I'm not an industry analyst, but all year I've been hearing about how passenger traffic is higher than it's ever been, but it just *felt* slower. My scheduling strategy is pretty dependent on pilot manning, and this was the first year that felt like the pre-pandemic norm. Turns out you can still be overmanned during the biggest travel season in human history. AA really fucked itself when it got rid of all those airplanes in a panic during the pandemic. It was a dumb idea on its own, but it has turned into a catastrophic idea given Boeing an airbuses difficulty with delivering airplanes. It's entirely possible Delta and United and Southwest are in different spots because of their fleet size, but unless you believe Boeing is going to suddenly get their shit together and deliver dozens of airplanes per month, AA is in a jam. And none of that considers our heavy debt load. I think our executives are just praying for a massive rate cut cycle by the Fed. I tend to have a negative bias on these types of things, so take it for what it's worth. But you also have to remember we have by far the weakest executive team of the major airlines. I think the only thing they know how to do is imitate the other airlines poorly.

  24. Translation: Because this is my side, I care more about technicalities than if our attorney general committed actual sex crimes against minors. Cherrypicking FBI results and choosing to get mad at which ones you want to get mad at is called “cognitive dissonance.” Hurr durr, Hunter laptop investigation bad and should be checked. Matt Gaetz sex crimes good. Seeing previous military officers compromise themselves is half funny half sad.
