I’ve come to expect that the only people who will have serious issues with the American leadership the next four years (just like 2017-2021) will be our adversaries like China, Russia, Iran, terrorist groups like ISIS, transgenders, illegal immigrants, far left lunatics like Antifa and Black Lives Matter, and decrypt democratic leadership in failing states like California and New York.

Do the right thing for the right reason, or at least be able to spin it that way! Men of action shouldn’t live in fear. Doing so is a choice. Choose differently.

He should never have been considered by any sane person for the position Trump nominated him for, and the way people lined up to “but the other side!” This is as ridiculous as Trump nominating his Limo Driver to the position only to watch people defend him. This guy is trash and it literally took the ethics report to get him to leave prior to censure because he knows he’s in an indefensible position. Yup. I'd love to see if they were using the same batshit-crazy witness that the DOJ dismissed. They almost certainly are, and that guy is literally in jail. But it's not all bullshit. And even though he wasn't the perpetrator, sex parties are notorious for hiring prostitutes to balance out the male-to-female ratio. He's gross, but not that gross, and probably not a child rapist.

Edited to finish statement We were mixing it up with the Thai F-16s at Korat when one flew under us. We were at about 150', it was a surprise. EWO kept asking if we could see him. Nobody thought to look down for an AI when we were that low.

Ha! One of my favorites. In my EWO days was on a TDY up to Bodo, Norway. Was Blue Air for a big LFE they had that week. We manage to get in and hit our airdrop without getting shot (lots of fjords and rocks to hide in, and our screen was able to keep Red off us for the first 15-20 minutes). As we're egressing, one of the Red Air guys regens, and proceeds to just blast straight after us. My aft jammer was tits up but like I said, lots of terrain to hide in, the front jammer was working, and there was solid overcast layer above so I felt like we had a chance. There were two Blue guys fairly close to me, I'm yelling that I'm spiked (Bitch give me some help!) but they were busy with another regen. Anywho start to notch the guy, GCI is giving me good callouts, I figure he's just gonna fly overhead cause of the overcast layer/mountains all around and then get shot by Blue. All of the sudden my LM calls "Hey I think I see....Holy Shit!!!" followed quickly by Pilot saying "Jesus Christ" and then "Fox 2 on Talon". Guy came right through the overcast, shot us, flew underneath us, then lights the burner and rockets right back up through the cloud deck. My pilot looks back at me and asks WTF was that. All I had was "Aaahh, yeah, they got us". In the debrief I asked the guy how he was able to get below the WX like that and he says he's been flying in the same patch of terrain for 20 years so he knew where all the high stuff was based on where the peaks were sticking up above the cloud deck. Can't notch that.

Out of gas 20 min before any of the guys who REALLY need the protection have even pushed.

The data from the bros is unbelievable from the perspective of how benign the situation was and the guys on the boat still fucked up to this extent. There are many people who deserve to have ruined careers over this. Zero sympathy for what comes to those in the chain of command.

He will have his own show, would be cool if it was on the same network as the crying former congressman, they could sit across the table roasting each other.

Well, first off, I didn't really care. I think he was a bad choice and I think he was a bad congressman. But... What's this "majority of" nonsense? You've been accused of drinking alcohol, fucking women, gambling, saying mean things, attending sex parties, and raping a minor. Sure... The report doesn’t give any evidence, though they like to say “there’s lots of evidence” in it (without sharing). There’s so much evidence that the DOJ investigated him and did not charge him. The guy is as hated as Trump by the weaponized DOJ, and yet zero charges. So that only says one thing: there’s nothing on him, at least legally. Falsehoods have also already been proven, and on top of that it’s clearly a partisan attack (where are all the other ethics reports on everyone else in congress? I’ll hold my breath). This ethics report is bullshit and has zero credibility. I say all this as someone who isn’t sad he’s out of congress, but I will call a spade a spade.

There is definitely a difference between moral courage (which is lacking it seems) and physical courage (we don't seem to be short of this) as you point out.

I found it easier to just pretend you had no idea the rule existed, or that you forgot. And in Bagram, my missing reflective belt was always wherever I was going. I kept one at the squadron and one in my room for the rare time an SNCO wanted to call my bluff and follow me to the destination. Drove them bonkers.

I blame the CC's, but I also blame officers who allow these types of acts to go unchecked. You're an officer, don't be afraid to act like it. Just don't be a dick and be right. On the spot correction are powerful and can quickly straighten up any culture of lax good order/discipline. In 22 years of enlisted and officer service, outside of some punishment I had to hand out as a CC, I can only remember two situation that rose to the level of "get in this office and shut the door," type corrections. Both situations were as a Captain and Major, and I never heard a thing about them again, and more importantly, they worked.

One of the greatest has flown West. Maj Gen Pat Halloran was 95. He had 100 combat missions in the F-84 before being selected for the highly-secretive U-2 Program in the 1957 time frame. Pat went on to be one of only 18 pilots to check out in both the U-2 and SR-71. After retirement, be remained involved in flying experimental aircraft and homebuilts, including some very exotic replica aircraft from the Tom Wathen Collection, like the De Havilland Comet. He was a regular at Oshkosh. Just a fantastic guy and incredible pilot. A toast to the General...
