I’d love to see age 67 get approved with the caveat that they all have to go be regional FOs for those last two years. If they really think it’s an experience problem, what better way to help to go sling gear for a 29 year old CRJ captain!4 points

So hypothetically, you get involved in a Class A but are not killed, but it sure looks like you might be at fault. You plan on just handing over your phone, laptop, passcode, gmail password, BO.net username and password, etc. to the investigating officials? The FAA? The NTSB? The news media? You're gonna just leave your public facebook or linkedin profiles out there so random internet people can blow up your notifications? You're gonna just leave your semi-anon accounts like BO, reddit, Twitter, etc. up even if those accounts are doxed? God forbid you were killed, you would like your wife/parents/next of kin to do the same? And regardless, it's unlikely that's even what's happened in the DCA crash. I'm guessing the deceased pilot's family deleted her social media so random dickhead internet sleuths didn't go poking into her personal life after it tragically ended. If there's any evidence of actual obstruction of the real, no-shit NTSB investigation, withholding relevant, possibly causal details, for sure let's quash that and get the truth data out there so we can prevent accidents in the future. But protecting the privacy of your deceased family members is not evidence of some conspiracy or funny business. I look forward to reading the safety brief on this once all the conclusions are reached rather than putting any stock in random talking heads or youtube aviation bros' speculation. I have opinions on what I think happened based on what we've all seen, but I don't actually know shit and therefore that opinion isn't particularly valuable. I'll go on record saying if I die, regardless of the circumstances, I'd love for my wife to go ahead and delete everything not required for her to continue our household operations and then throw my phone and laptop in the ocean. TBH we'd all be better off probably sending our devices down to Davy Jones ASAP rather than continuing to do what we're doing right here and now...4 points

"New Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Tuesday that President-elect Donald Trump is “being really dumb” by taking on the intelligence community and its assessments on Russia’s cyber activities. “Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you,” Schumer told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow. “So even for a practical, supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he’s being really dumb to do this.” -Jan 2017 never forget when a sitting US Senator openly said the quiet part out loud. then look at what trump went thru for the next 8 years. He's definitely right over the target.2 points

Investigators will have access to everything that was deleted. This is the internet, you can't make it go away in a day. But it does keep people like you and me from seeing it. And I am 100% okay with that. The chattering class can wait for the report. I have no problem with us having this discussion in this forum, but we do not have an inherent right to unlimited information just because we want to know earlier.2 points

Here is why I mentioned USAID and why it is relevant to Ukraine: - The Ukraine Crisis Media Center was founded in 2014 around the time of Maidan protests. It's an NGO that receives money from other foreign NGOs and governments to advance the interests of other nations in Ukraine, against Russia. - Who is the biggest contributor to UCMC? USAID April 2019, Zelensky ran for President promising to fight and expose corruption in the Ukrainian government. May 2019, the UCMC (the donors above), obviously worried that Zelensky might not be 100% on "Team NeoCon" releases a statement that says "As civil society activists, we present a list of “red lines not to be crossed”. Should the President cross these red lines, such actions will inevitably lead to political instability in our country and the deterioration of international relations:" USAID, The Embassy, go on to list in detail all the demands of policies and positions Zelensky must implement, or.... "If the President crosses these red lines, it will indicate that he does not seek real democratic change and does not wish to establish a more honest and responsible government, even though he promised to do so during the election period." An obvious threat to Zelensky. It's all here: https://uacrisis.org/en/71966-joint-appeal-of-civil-society-representatives Check out the list of NGOs who signed it, all of which who are funneling (laundering) money. in 2021, the "leak" of the Pandora Papers showed Zelensky had funded his campaign in part, and continued to receive funds from his off-shore oil company businesses he had established previous to his election. Leverage. Later in 2022, Putin invaded, and Zelensky is pressured to advance the demands and interests of these "Non-Governmental" Organizations. The developments with USAID this week are the tip of the iceberg. Hundreds of Billions of your US dollars are unaccounted for and it's going to take a little while to find it. NGOs are receiving this money and using this money in a way that circumvents the normal US government accounting and audit processes. They don't want you to know how it's being spent. But... It's hard to hide money from a US government administration that wants to find it.2 points

for anyone that is remotely competitive, go here: Practiscore Click on "matches" at the top. This is the website that almost every competition shooting sport in the US uses to schedule and advertise. Find a close IDPA or USPSA match and sign up. Bring whatever gun and holster you have (no shoulder holster though). Make sure you have at least 2, better 3 mag pouches. Just buy whatever uncle mikes crap at the local gun store, they suck but you'll figure out what you want later. Show up and tell them you're brand new. Enjoy trying to reload those magazine after your first stage.2 points

For some reason I don’t seem to care what the progressives think about Trump or his team/what they’re doing for the country, when those same progressives over the last decade have told us how evil the US is…2 points

I had been cautiously optimistic about what this admin could/would accomplish. I know this is a bad analogy, but for some reason the only one that comes to mind: I was in high school in 1992 when the rules were changed to allow the "Dream Team" play in the Olympics. I couldn't wait to see how they would do. When they were finally on the court, it was just overwhelming domination of every player from every country they competed against. They outmaneuvered their opponents seemingly every play of every game. Amazing to watch. America ended up in first place, over 100 points in every game, average 50 point spread. This may or may not continue, but it's pretty awesome right now.2 points

Maybe it’s not 4D chess, but in less than 24 hrs from my initial post regarding tariffs on our allies, we have wildly succeeded with one of them. CA will soon follow. I’m not in blind support of tariffs, but I am open minded and so far in the last month (including before he took office) Trump has been wildly successful with them, whether via actual implementation or threat of. So far we’ve seen tons of leftist doomsdayers proven wrong multiple times on this front. Remains to be seen how a long term tariff strategy works, but the “we’re so fucked!” cries on X, etc. are laughable.2 points

Agreed with @busdriver above. Shooting matches will make you a better shooter and test your skill on demand. There’s a reason why professional organizations that use firearms in harms way hire world class competitive shooters for firearms training. If you do go to a match, prepare to be humbled for your first several matches. There is obviously a game to it, but the ability to shoot and perform on demand is universal. You don’t have to be a member to compete at your typical local matches and folks are willing to help new shooters out. Practiscore, as mentioned above is your best bet for finding a match. I speculate that this could be one of, if not the, most complex corruption hairballs he's having to deal with. There are so many subplots to this story: USAID funding of the Maidan protests, Victoria Nuland, Biden, Burisma, Biolabs, Nordstream, Pentagon accounting errors, missing funds, theft of military aid, embezzlement, etc. It's going to take a while to ascertain the scope and scale of the fraud and deception. Even then, if it were all to be untangled and exposed, the implications it may have on the economy, foreign relations, global power balance could even give Trump pause for thought.1 point

Lots of good stuff in there but I've found (like anything) there isn't a giant question mark on some of the stats he quotes in the series. The physiological stuff can't be argued with though. Its pretty funny when you go out shooting with the buddies and throw in some mild physical movements into the mix and watch the heartbeat of the gun barrel.1 point

Auditory exclusion is a thing that has been researched and validated from what I can read today. I remember reading about it in one of Grossman's books (I think). Essentially brain shuts down your ability to hear and even prevents the damaging effects in high stress situations such as fight or flight. Very interesting. Ripped from wiki: This is due to the increased blood flow in the eardrums that creates noise, causing the individual to lose hearing of the surrounding environment. This can manifest as a hissing or ringing in the individual's ears which consequently blocks out the noise around them. However, intentionally/voluntarily raising your heart rate to this level through exercise may not cause auditory exclusion. This is because the increase is not due to rapid hormonal changes that trigger the stress response, instead it is a gradual increase in heart rate as a result of exercise, i.e., it does not "shock" the body in the same way we do when encountering stressful situations.[8]1 point

If you're going to be using supersonic rounds, then it doesn't make a ton of sense to choose 300 blackout over 556. That's not to say 300 blackout isn't going to ruin someone's day, but the ballistics of 556 are more damaging in pretty much every configuration over any 300 black. Especially if you don't care about overpenetration, then then 556 is going to put the most damaging hole in the bad guy. 300 blackout is quiet, scary quiet, and not having to worry about deafening yourself while defending your home is one of the things I like about it. But 556 suppressed is still quiet enough that you probably aren't going to ruin your flying career defending your home, and you get all the benefits of the sheer ferocity of 556. If you absolutely need the shortest SBR, or want a hearing safe home defense gun, then 300 black makes sense. That's what I have. But if you're going to use super sonic ammo I'd probably stick with 556.1 point

Agreed. They are more than welcome to come up with better ways to get it done but the track record for the progressive side isn't quite spectacular. Also, they seem to be doubling down on going farther left of center based off the DNC elections.1 point

If it was my daughter I'd do the exact same thing. Imagine losing your daughter/son and stepping into the social media world to see every possible evil conspiratorial thing being said about your child. Whatever can be done to lessen the pain and stress would be done if I were them. Regardless of how many hours she could have had, it's not going to stop the fucktards from dragging him/her down. I rarely flew on a sortie that had a crew full of 1,000+ hour folks. There is always going to be a low hour guy on board getting training. Why is there no talk about the instructor/evaluator on board?1 point

Reports I've seen only mention Trump criticizing DEI initiatives in the FAA and ATC, with no blame pointed towards the crews. WSJ link. Granted, I haven't listened to his remarks myself. But while pointing fingers at this early stage is clearly crass and bordering on vulgar, Trump is also not wrong. The FAA's push for DEI in the ATC ranks over the past several years is well documented. https://www.tracingwoodgrains.com/p/the-faas-hiring-scandal-a-quick-overview-1 points

Something just really rubs me the wrong way about the scrubbing of the social media posts. If I was involved in an accident, you can be damn sure that the investigators will scour my personal life leading up to that accident. All text messages, phone calls, etc would be looked at. If I scrubbed them after it happened, that would raise the eyebrows of the investigators…possibly to point of obstructing an investigation, destruction of evidence, and obstruction of justice. Maybe there was nothing there. Maybe the investigators have full access. But it doesn’t look right to me.-1 points
