Surely, you’re now limited to two posts a day of sharing anything from X. By all means, debate and enjoy the nonsense, but scale back on reposting random stuff from X.4 points

Because the political discussions here don't matter. They are mostly people who enjoy the pursuit of knowledge and the mental exercise of defending and dissecting ideas. Civility is maintained through the shared experience of military service and the occasional necessary banning. It's not worth engaging with someone in that context who isn't going to converse honestly. The goal is to be right, not to win. What you do when your point is defeated is very different between those opposing goals.2 points

Maybe we would know the reason behind the tariffs if the admin would pick one from their ever-growing laundry list of disjointed grievances and good idea fairies.. Tariffs are solely negotiating tool to get Canada and Mexico to crack down on border policy.. oh wait no it’s actually a negotiating tool to get other countries to reduce their tariffs on us.. oh wait no actually those countries don’t even have tariffs on us in many cases, it’s to remedy trade deficits which are a ripoff somehow.. oh wait no it’s actually that tariffs are a good thing and will literally make us rich.. oh wait no it’s actually to nerf trade so we bring back manufacturing.. oh wait no it’s actually to deliberately crash the economy to refinance our debt at a lower interest rate..2 points

In a few weeks, I travel to Oklahoma State University to defend my doctoral dissertation in front of my Institutional Review Board. This is a culmination of not only four years of studying, research, writing, and editing but also the final chapter of my academic career, which started in 2017 after I left the Air Force. This academic journey spanned three universities, one undergrad and two graduate degrees, one move from Washington to Colorado, two vacations to Australia and one to England, five jobs, one pandemic, four vehicles, and one amazing girlfriend. This dissertation is dedicated to one of the pilots I interviewed, who was tragically killed in a vehicle accident shortly after I interviewed him in his office. I would like to thank everyone here who helped me along the way, thank you. I've been apart of this place right since I started flying as a KC-135 Boom Operator in 2006. We have grown up together in a lot of ways and I wouldn't be the person I am today without the people I've interacted with from the board. 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." I present to you my dissertation. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/g8hd0223adxfdnanl36ok/Dissertation.docx?e=1&fbclid=IwY2xjawJeTGJleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHhLLyfv16g-4NqFWmsH5hUbpJqZ1M-G1gtdhgbsVJW0pLTw3xEXTXd6Uq_zH_aem_YADTZOEkhzOXQP_1zn9mpg&rlkey=t411kwzvuh4chjw2z5s9rt1do&st=ywppe4ea&dl=01 point

Just to be clear, the idea is tariffs will force companies to open facilities in the US, and then? The tariffs cannot go away, they are the only thing that makes that factory make any sense. Everything will be more expensive from now on, this is a very obvious trade-off. For fuck sake, calling someone a "globalist" is a common pejorative within new-right circles (and plenty of people on this board us it as well). You guys are acting like we didn't discuss globalization and whether or not it was good for everyone and job loss/market differentiation is just the natural product of a free market, or whether the US worker got the short end of the stick and paid for the cheap stuff for everyone else. The words coming out of the president's mouth, and the vice president, and the treasury secretary, etc, etc. Basically all the language from the administration (except the guy who's leaving to go back to business) lines up with the "globalization was a bad deal" crowd.1 point

What is a better use of your money, donating to a PAC to change the administration or investing in a factory that will never be competitive due to the high costs of labor and regulations? I like most of what Trump does, but he's gonna lose this one. Why start a 5 year project when you can wait 4 years for the conditions to change. Our entire economy is set up to provide financial capital and intellectual property. Apple is the perfect example of this. They design a consumer product in the US and then source and assemble it in locations where you don't need to worry about providing healthcare for workers or complying with OSHA and the EPA. Hunkering down to weather the storm seems more prudent for them to than to change direction on how they manufacture their products.1 point

On numerous occasions I've seen cops in my neighborhood turn their lights on when a car coming the other way was speeding, then turn their lights off and continue when the speeder slows down. Officers always have discretion and examples like you have above can be effective. However, to blatantly state as a policy that the police will not pull people over for minor violations is a license to commit minor violations.1 point

Bruh. Don't miss the point. The point of these tariffs isn't ultimately to bring our friends and allies to the bargaining table to ensure Americans get fair deals, m'kay. They are being imposed solely for the purpose of increasing the cost of living in America...because. At least that's what Hakeem Jeffries would have me believe if I thought he had a single brain cell in his noggin.1 point

I see this quite a bit with guys who are early in the MC/HC-J syllabus I teach. The bulk of the guys/gals coming through training right now are T-1 sim only or T-6 only; they never flew an actual Phase 3 trainer. Their initial inclination on the early sorties in the sim is to engage the autopilot as quickly as possible after takeoff cause they're very unsure/hesitant about hand flying the airplane. The are also usually struggling SA wise and engaging the automation lets them not have to fly and think at the same time. It's very unfortunate where the AF is leaving these guys skill wise coming out of UPT.1 point

QUAG, I just received (0126z 01 APR 2025) my notification via email. That being said your buddy, and everyone in that boat, should check with his/her CSS and see if the loosing roster has them on it. That’s how I found out last week. Additionally, call the number for the board. I believe it’s on the email sent to us with selection notification. You can also call the number that was on the emails with Mr Walters - I’ll dm you it tomorrow to pass along1 point

That's pretty unacceptable; they've had months to get those dates squared away and haven't provided any sort of update saying they're behind.0 points

Kind of like how you said there wasn’t any mention on FoxNews the other day when the market took a big hit and yet you were clearly wrong. Here’s a question for you: Can a person who is born a boy become a girl?-1 points
