Well I’m still a newb but I really don’t think so. From what I’ve heard on the line and in the lounges, we’re (Delta pilots) mostly angry at management for prolonging these negotiations while profits soar on our backs. The consensus seems to be: no concessions, industry leading contract in all aspects, with inflation PLUS significant raises and QOL increases, and nothing short of full retro pay for the ~3 years since the contract became amendable. Don’t really hear a lot of talk of other airlines contracts but certainly people are watching. We seem to have a lot of pissed-off, hard-liners who estimate that we have the leverage to shoot for the moon. But TBH I think the “moonshot” which will be quite expensive for the company, is actually the fair deal considering that our contract is nearly 6 years old. This is oldish news but figured I’d post for the masses since I didn’t see it on here. Delta pilots held a strike authorization vote in October. The results were resounding. 96% voted and 99% of the voters voted in favor. There’s several more steps in the process before any actual strike could occur, and it’s probably not likely to happen, but it certainly doesn’t hurt at the negotiating table. Delta pilots won’t be the first to snap up a turd of a contract. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Anyone know if a retiree is eligible for TLE and Per Diem entitlements when making the final government move to Home of Selection? Google didn’t provide a clear cut answer, TMO said that was a Finance question, and of course, base Finance won’t answer the phone or return emails. Thanks in advance… Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

I didn’t really have strong justification so I just went with needs of the AF. Since 11Rs are so “overmanned “ that they didn’t warrant a bonus, surely it benefits the AF to get a line-flying old O-5 off the books. Someone probably had a good chuckle as they stamped DENIED on my request. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Yes they denied mine. Even had support from my chain. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Met a guy at my Delta interview who was an Army WO with some C-12 time. He retired and spent about 5 years flying some rich guy’s private jet. He got a CJO. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Wow I feel like I must’ve missed something after reading Clearedhot’s experience. I did a 45 minute phone call with a VSO who went through my record with me and submitted the paperwork. Then I did some bloodwork, a hearing test, and a mobility test/ q/a session with a Doc contracted by the VA. Did all of that in one location, took about 2 hours. Don’t have my rating yet, probably going to get shorted. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

You can do either. An SHPE appointment at the base clinic or just go straight to the VA for them to do the physical. Not sure if one route is better than the other. I did the VA physical. Was super easy. But I’m still on terminal so don’t have my rating yet… Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

What is the actual formula DFAS uses to calculate gross retired pay? SOLVED!
pcola replied to Herkdrvr's question in Q & A Forum
There should be someone at your base who handles that. For me, our base TAP coordinator put me in contact with him and he was able to send me screenshots of the program he used to estimate my retirement pay for a few different retirement scenarios. Basically, it’s done by calculating your actual base pay in each of the previous 36 months multiplied by the percentage which is prorated to the month. But how many of those unvaccinated people would be in the ICU if they’d made more healthy life choices prior to their choice to not get an experimental vaccine? If they weren’t obese/diabetic/heart disease/etc due to an unhealthy diet promoted for decades by the USDA and immensely influential corporate entities, would their vaccine status matter as much? We should always look beyond first-order effects. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

The other problem is the wife loses the payout if she remarries. So if you are basing the calculations on you dying young, also consider that your young wife would likely remarry and lose the benefit. We just decided to go with an 800k term life policy for $45/month from AAFMA. Will be self-insured by the end of that policy Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Thanks fellas. As usual, better info on here than from our AFPC “professionals” Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

I’m regular. And am aware of the high 36, but that’s the same whether my retiree ID says Maj or Lt Col which is what I meant when I said it makes no difference. Aside from $, is there any other considerations I might be missing? For instance, if I ever returned to AD, would it be as O-4 or O-5? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
