  1. Lol at “journalism”. From the article: “Maultsby hoped he was close to friendly territory and made the decision to kill his engines and allow the massive U-2 wingspan to glide him as far as they could. To his surprise, he maintained an altitude of 70,000 feet for about ten minutes before he started his descent.” That’s a good one. Apparently he was flying the dual motor U-2, and must’ve spent 10 minutes bouncing off the atmosphere before finally coming down. [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  2. Clearly it’s Trump who determines every stop on every airlift mission. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  3. Well I couldn’t think of the exact word at the time of posting. Maybe not “honestly”. Maybe genuine? Or at least less PC? I find it interesting that they have some real heated debates compared to our measured, back stabbing political games. Yeah I’m sure “honestly” wasn’t the right word, but I think you can see my point. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  4. Huggy, I totally expected that story to take a different turn after the flip... Figured that was part of the reason we don’t get the massages anymore [emoji45] Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  5. Gotta love Parliament! I wish our Congress could act as honestly as the Brits seem to. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  6. Ok 30, my off-the-cuff number was off the mark by quite a bit. But my point stands. We’ve broken the force, and subsequently eroded our position of dominance in trying to do too much but without full commitment to anything. Some would argue that it’s the inevitable end to a unipolar system. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  7. 20 years of global force projection plus a need to modernize to stay ready for peer/near peer conflict makes it difficult to balance the budget Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  8. Guys it’s not that difficult really. Simple economics in the end. The pay has to be commensurate with the job. Either more pay or less work. Until they do that, people are going to keep migrating towards opportunities where the pay is commensurate. And relying on patriotism won’t work either when most of us view the last 20 years as a total waste of blood and treasure. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  9. Somebody asked if anyone’s seen any changes yet as a result of all the hyperbole... From my little corner all I can see is a bunch of wheel spinning and cheap talk. While the reality remains - with every passing month, as more of my brothers walk out the door, my days get longer. Nothing short of WW3 could make me stay past my commitment at this point. 10. Guardian, the whole point of the article is to make an argument that the stats aren’t telling the whole story. I’m not posting simply to “win” an argument, but to shed light on a very important emerging trend which isn’t getting the attention it deserves. If you read the article, they make a pretty compelling case as to why, in this instance, the statistics are incomplete. So yes, in some instances argument can be made based upon what’s likely true but isn’t necessarily statistically supported (yet.) The point of the argument is to drive better tracking. Sorry for the thread derail. Back to CC firings. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app ETA: And the Insurance Journal is a credible source in certain risk assessment circles.
  11. It’s widely accepted that the stats you’ve provided are misleading for a variety of reasons. Here’s a decent article on the topic. https://www.insurancejournal.com/news/national/2017/10/18/467836.htm TLDR: while drunk driving stats are easily and closely monitored, distracted driving is much more difficult to pinpoint in accident reporting statistics. Actual distracted driving incidents are almost certainly much higher than your sources represent. But you’re probably right that it’s a different solar system, just not in the way you thought. 12. And I’ll bet you’ve never looked at your phone while driving either, right? Pretty sure that’s deadlier, especially for innocent children considering the time of day when most DUI fatalities happen compared to distracted driving. So what’s an appropriate punishment for that, and should you turn yourself in to the authorities? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  16. Nope. Black boots rock because that’s what they used for GENERATIONS since the very beginning. And my old Addisons took so little effort that it was completely negligible. I’d go back in a heartbeat. Actually I do occasionally get to fly in some throwback black Addison boots and I love it![emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  19. Yeah not really giving a shit about what the retirement cert says. Any other potential impacts from being retired at the lower grade? Pay is not a factor with the high-3 rule. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  20. Yeah I found it in the retirements reg. 36-3203. Actually also just learned that it takes a POTUS waiver to retire in a grade above O-4 with less than 2 years TIG. I always heard that you just revert to the lower grade but never knew the less than 2 years rule. Apparently requires proof of extreme hardship. Looks like I’ve got 2 more years. Bah Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  21. My question still stands. I’m not passed over, nor on any continuation. Can I retire at 20 with a bonus ADSC that takes me past 20? Anyone have any experience with this or know which reg covers it? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  22. The bonus money is pennies compared to the $300/month in pension money I’d be foregoing. Over a potential 40 years of drawing pension that’s $144K. Still worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  23. Anyone know the process of applying for an ADSC waiver to retire? My bonus ADSC takes me 8 months past the 20-year point and I’d like to look into getting those 8 months waived to retire at the first opportunity. I realize I’d be paying back those 8 months of unearned bonus. Totally worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  24. Just for a frame of reference... I met my 1BTZ and IPZ looks on student status. Was an ACSC student for the BTZ and got a P. The next year, was in a Fellowship for my IPZ. The only change in my record was a training report from ACSC. Met the board with the exact same NO PRF both years. Got a DP for my IPZ. Obviously the board weighed my school completion and/or promotion zone as those were the only changes to my records between the two boards. YMMV Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  25. This is like a duffel blog article turned into reality. Concur with Guardian, the AF has gone full retard. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
