She agrees with me And she is a great spokewoman for the AR platform.

I carry a CW9 (IWB usually) but my wife went from a LCP (hard trigger pull) to a Kahr CM9. I took 200+ rounds to make it reliable so buyer beware, but now she loves it. I made a kydex holster for her but she usually carries it in a pocket holster in a purse: https://www.happycow....r-hip-bags.html She and I both agree the CM9 is less snappy and harsh the the .380 LCP. Outgoing I know, but the SecDef weighing in: https://www.voanews.c...ol/1585735.html

Well School District 20, Colorado Springs has armed security for several years now. They used to be CCW now they are open carry. I know, pure lunacy right?? My father in law, retired sheriff with 20+ years, works as a security guard for one the high schools. Loves the gig. Banker hours, summers off, great supplemental paycheck to his retirement. His partner at the school....retired MSgt USAF SP, looking for the same thing. They make mid-teens/hour paycheck and enjoy the work. They also have two patrol cars and a small dispatch center than can roll the unit to a particular school if they need more support-searching lockers, bringing in the drug dog etc etc. The more junior folks are those in mid twenties that are trying to pad their resume and get into a LEO agency. Very common to do that at hospitals or other security gigs. Our local LEO like it because they know the retired guys and can ask about if they would make a good cop. From what I know, the district security chief usually pairs up the junior guy with two experienced/retired folks. While D-20 has more $$$ than others, it doesn't need to be a TSA affair. IMHO-should be a national model on how to do things. OBTW-he has had a lot of parents recently talk with him and all thank him for what he does. A few even asked if they could pay for more ammo. (kinda odd....I know)

I would be curious as to why? You have a greater risk of over penetration from a 9mm than a .223 round. That is why all those fancy swat units dropped the MP5 9mm and went with ARs for house breaching. People thought, "oh a rifle round....it will just keep going and going and going." But what they found was the 9mm kept going and going and going and the 223/556 hit something, tumbled and stopped. I don't have kids in the house but I'll take my 16" middy with a light and aimpoint over my FNX9 for HD any day (unless I want to shoot through the door/wall).

Sure, if you insist. Again, don't care, or as I said, don't give a rat's ass. I don't have a vest, tazer, brick with a BOB button, back up that will 1000 mph if I'm in trouble. My blood probably boiled a bit when I thought I saw the LEO can have more rounds than me and hit the reply button 1/2 to fast. (sorry, working and reading at the same time) I'm glad you don't support an AWB or mag restrictions. I will say I could care less about drums or surefire 60 round mags...they suck and jam. I rather have a lunny try to use one of those so I can have the time to engage.

I haven't been here in a long time. Just jumped in to see what the scuttlebutt was and saw this...so I'll play. Background: former Herk Driver who became a sheriff's deputy, who now works at USAFA (not LEO related). I could give a rat's ass about frequency that LEO face danger vs avg joe public....blablabla. I live in a nice part of town and had armed break in 2 blocks from my house. I don't care about what you see in the movies, when bullets start flying, there are A LOT of misses and very FEW hits. I DON'T fight fair. I want as many rounds in my home defense AR as it can hold and I can wield. I want as many rounds in my CCW piece as it can hold and I can comfortably wear. Three years off the force and walking out of the local super market I still hear from behind me, "Hey Dep, how's it going, remember me?" with some junkie that looks worse off then when I arrested him with his hands in his jacket pocket. My father-in-law, 20 year + retired deputy: same thing. Are there going to be provisions for people like him and me to have more than 7 or 10 rounds due to our past run-ins with the dredges of society? If so, great, now I'm better than the lady down the street who has a stalker, moved 4 times, and the legal system has still failed her. I don't give a crap how good or bad of a shot you are. There are threats to everybody, all the time, welcome to the real world, and being limited with the type of protection I can or cannot have is BS.

Just to throw it out there, but making your own Kydex holsters is pretty easy. Good sources of how-to are: https://www.ar15.com/...___.html&page=1 Just a public service announcement-- https://i.imgur.com/LpwJX.jpg]https:// https://

Wanted to try it. I can always throw in a full 90 degree if it's not to my taste.

Picked up a used FNX-9 a few weeks ago. Shot it once now. Per the previous owner it had 300-ish rounds through it and by the look of it, I would say it is accurate. So far, very happy. I like the DA/SA option or the locked an cocked. (I carry DA/safety off per what I generally carry w/ my Kahr). Firm but crisp break on the DA. SA was very nice IMHO. Sights are nice. Must slap the mag in firmly if it is loaded to max capacity. (I was shooting with 5 loaded in all my mags to get through more reloads-when I went to seat a fully loaded 17 round mag, I didn't slam it home and it dropped out. Some people complain about the backstrap; non-issue for me. Don't feel the very minor play that it has. The price is great in comparision with the HKs out there. Would recommend and would buy again.

C.S. wildfire: USAFA given pre-evacuation warning
FreudianSlip replied to Techsan's topic in General Discussion
My father in law is a retired EPSO deputy and works security for D-20 school district. They just asked him to work security (he's usually off all summer) at Discovery Canyon High as the cadets are being relocated there. Its a huge campus with several large gyms. Will try to confirm. -

Been a long time since my last post-unfortunate that something like this happens to bring me out of the WTF and Picture threads. I am far east of I25 near research and powers so i'm only dealing with smoke. HOWEVER, there are a lot of personnel that I'm aware of that have homes off of Woodman west of I25 who's homes are in serious danger as of now. When I left work (Fairchild) around 4:30 the smoke was intense and by the time I got home there was ash falling way out where I am. As of 6:30 local they made the evac mandatory. They are sending all the Pine/Douglas Valley folks to Ft Carson. I'm waiting to hear back from an AOC buddy on the plan for the cadets. Basic starts in just a few days so this will be an unfortunate memorable start for this new class. They have done the standard recall but the phone lines are so jammed up I can only get text message in/out. The MAFFS guys out of Pete and Cheyenne have been out in force today. I think 4 3 planes total on the line. I'm sure the threat to USAFA caused a bit of red tape to be cut. (I can't believe it took that long to get them fully operational-red tape BS). I'm sure work will be called off tomorrow. I'll keep an update on occasion. Everybody cross their fingers.... -
Just saw an advance screening at USAFA--I don't know how you can ruin the plot line of the Tuskeegee story but they did. Hell, I'm pretty much a lurker around here after being out for 6 years and felt I should post a public service announcement so people will save their money. Crappy plot line, cheesy dialog, unneeded side story(s), unrealistic flight maneuvers. Overall horrific! If I hadn’t been packed in with a bunch of cadets, I probably would have walked out 2/3rds the way through. Save your money-very disappointed.

Sorry, late to the discussion but my wife carries an LCP. Colorado is one of the few places where you can carry in the colleges (they all have different policies though). Anyways, she likes it. She can carry it in a few different ways: purse, ankle, backpack. She has a tough time locking the slide back but racking it to reload isn't an issue-grip it and rip it. I like it take the LCP when I don't want to carry my Kahr CW-9 (good price, thing shoots great-highly recommend too). The one thing I did is paint the front sight (with white nail polish-none the less). Bigger is better but something is better than nothing, buy what you'll carry! Good luck with your choice.

Thanks for incorperating into the proper thread...and apologies...it might not have come up cause I put "inactive ready reserve" in the search query, or I just didn't see it (probably more likely) I guess I'll make a call and ask them if the IRR "holds" it but I doubt it....bummer...the job would have been sweet!

I've been searching through here and google and trying to find out if my clearance is still "current" (or even active) if I'm still Inactive Ready Reserve. From my understanding from what I can find, now that I am seperated (and have been since late '06) the clearance is no longer current or active. However I am IRR so I'm trying to find out if that is a loophole that keeps the clearance current. Any advice on where to look, who to ask?? Thanks

I've been roaming through NAS Pensicola's website looking for the Water Survival Course and damm the squids having some crazy webpage layouts. I took it before continueing on at Corpus a few years ago and need the course title and for some crazy reason, can't find a certificate of training. Just looking to see if anybody knows the offical title of the course? Need it for a job application oddly enough. thanks

I'll bite… So I'm sitting there in SOS (God help me, what a horrible experience!) on the first day and I'm pretty early in the alphabetic order for the standard meet and greet. So I throw out the standard, "grew up in CA, 99 zoomie, pilot training, Herk Pilot, I spent 3 years in Elmendorf and now at Pope." This formula goes around my new classmates until we get close to the end. Now this douchebag opens his mouth with, "I'm from (someplace I don't recall), I'm a 00 grad from USAFA (oh, great one of those dipshits….wait…that's where I went)." Now this is where it gets good because he continues with, "I went to Vance for pilot training, but realized I wanted to lead people so I left. I'm now a comm officer in charge of (so many people at some place I can't recall)." So, one strike for being an effing zoomie (I have the right to bash my own), two strikes for admitting that you washed out of UPT and three strikes by lying about the fact that you washed out by trying to say that you "wanted to lead people." I already hate the dude and it isn't even 9 AM on the first day of class! Instead of just omitting the fact that he went to UPT and just saying that he is a Comm officer, he tries to cover up his failure with a lie. So, we go through the entire hell called SOS and not only do the two other pilots in my class hate his guts; I'm pretty sure most everybody else did too. Finally near the end he tells me, as I'm close to comatose in the Big Blue Snooze Room that he bounced a tweet in so hard, he collapsed the gear and slide off the runway and that he was too scared to get back in the seat. (If I smacked one in that hard, that early in the program I guess I might think twice about it too, but I wouldn't make up a story to tell other people that the reason I left was to "lead people.") Moral of the story: lots of people wash out. Whether its for motion sickness, can't land the bitch, formation etc etc but if you do wash out, please for all that is good and holy, walk away knowing you gave it your all and let it go. Find something that fits for you and do your best at it, but don't ever ever lie because most people will know you are full of BS!

so I say this jokingly, but I guess PIC comes down to who's name is at the top of the 781 (who's name was on the top of the orders) and if you can interpret the scribled initials at the bottom.
-
Do you mean I code?? J code is for inexperienced, I believe, could be wrong. But thanks for your answer
-
Done the search and found a few threads talking about logging PIC time for the airlines but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for so asking to a direct explanation. 2 Mission Pilots, obviously only 1 A code but you don't log "PIC" on the 781 only Pri and Sec. I'm assuming that the A code guy gets the "PIC" time but how is that known or logged or tracked? If two MPs go on a long trip together, can you "split" the A code (PIC time) or is one hosed?? Thanks

K2 was the bomb!! Nice small base w/o to much bullshit. (Still a few reflect belt nazis but you can't kill them all...but you can try)

Expect C-17s to very shortly being doing 4 month non-chopped deployments to the Died. I would guess about another month or so to start seeing the first crews doing the 4 month bit. The question is, once they are back how long will TACC leave them alone? As for the Herks, Pope has J-model Mx buildings already built...and yup...its being BRACed w/ H2 (I think) coming from the guard to Pope Army Airfield (w/ a small active duty squad to play with the guard...sts). When I PCSed to Pope over a year ago, I heard that the 2nd was in line to get the J. We even had a LTC, who was a J guy in the squadron to start the process. A year and a half later, I haven't heard anything (of value) about Js coming to the Active Duty side of things. If you're worried about flying a shiny new plane, go to the C-17. If you're willing to wait out planes with wing cracks that are 40 years old in hopes that the J model will replace them, then Herk flying is a blast. Also realize that the Air Force is jumping into the new light cargo aircraft that the army wants. So you might see a shift away from interest with larger purchases of the J to this new thing (which I don't know to much about). Best of luck with your choice and you might want to start packing your deployment bag now. See you in the desert!
