  2. I don’t know why big Air Force has to make this so difficult. Make 2 piece an option for non ejection seat personnel. It’s really that simple. I wouldn’t want to deal with all that bullshit in an ejection seat. My only experience is in the Tweet, and dealing with the shirt twisting around on you under the chute would be maddening. Poopy suit? G-suit? Forget it. I would imagine that would be ridiculous. We don’t make everybody wear a parka every day just because it’s cold in North Dakota. It’s the same damn thing. Mission requirements dictate. It’s f-Ing hot and you are a tanker guy? Wear the two piece. Strapping into a B-1 for a 24 hour mission? Wear the one piece. It’s a beautiful day and you’re going to an airshow? Wear the one piece, throw your squadron tee shirt and your fake name tag on and have a ball.
  3. Oh sweet baby Jesus. That guy.
  4. Yup My year group there were 100 slots for all of ROTC and you had to have 20/20 vision. My kid is a cadet now (that’s how fcuking old I am) and the class two ahead of his got somewhere around 650 pilot slots for all of ROTC. “Life isn’t fair, timing is everything, there is no justice.” -Bergman
  5. Or for better info, check this 8 page thread It's Official, OCPs are Coming! https://www.flyingsquadron.com/forums/applications/tapatalk/index.php?/topic/22350-It%27s-Official%2C-OCPs-are-Coming%21
  6. I heard that HAF/A1 is actually forming a horse mounted posse charged with taking back everyone’s sage green flight suit. You can run, but you’ll only be undressed tired.
  7. Sorry man, usually when people say “asking for a friend” they usually mean “my ass is in a sling and I’ve gotta cover it quick.”
  8. I don’t know, but why wouldn’t you just save $300 and blow it when you get there, or get a separate credit card your family can’t see, or maybe save the money or find someone who doesn’t question....oh, nevermind, I’m ramblin’ now. Putting it on your GTC seems like a recipe for disaster to me.
  9. Brabus, I couldn’t quote the part you wrote about the double dipping, but it’s not entirely true. Yes, you only get 120 hours of mil leave. But...AFTPs (and RSDs for now I guess) can be accomplished after your tech day is over. So, you can work 0700-1630 and then do a 1630-2030 AFTP. No leave taken, no loss of tech pay and and additive mil pay. Same goes for weekends and holidays. If your unit has an alert tour or you go do a weekend dedicated airlift mission Fri-Sun, you only have to take 8 hours of mil leave (or accrued comp time) to get three days of mil pay. If your unit does 4x10s or AWS/CDO on a Friday and you pick up a Fri-Sun alert tour or trip, you get three days of mil pay for zero leave taken. So yeah, your 120 hours is a limfac, but depending on the mission of the unit, you can make that go further. I do agree 100% on the buyback. Give that one a few years if you’re coming off active duty. But you can always un-buy it back and get a refund as well.
  10. First off It’s much easier to start off flying fighters and then switch to a heavy unit later than vice versa. If you’ve always wanted a fighter, go for it. Fighter guys fly airliners. There are plenty on this board that retired from fighters and are now at Delta, AA, etc. What does your unit fly? That would be a good place to start. You’ll change your tune about tankers someday. At the end of the day don’t worry about things you can’t control and promise me you won’t ever say “rocks my socks off” again.
  11. So I decided to start a new topic based on a discussion in the Bonus thread regarding the new technician/ART pay tables. As a 14 year technician who served as a technician from Jan 07-about three weeks ago, I’m happy progress was finally made, even if I’ll never see it. Some comments were made about TAG buy-in and such. But, the way I read it, it looks like it applies to multiple agencies (to include the Department of the AIr Force). Here’s the letter if you haven’t seen it: And the pay tables can be found here by scrolling down to tables 0759-0767. https:// https://apps.opm.gov/SpecialRates/2018/AllSRTables.aspx So, since it’s the new OPM pay table and not some locally concocted bonus, all of the techs and ARTs out in Baseopsville will see this in your next civ pay LES. If you don’t, you should call out your local HRO or Finance because it looks pretty cut and dry to me. Scooter
  12. At least they FINALLY fixed the technician pay and are adding locality AND special salary rate to Department of the Air Force Pilots in the GS-11 through 15 grades.
  13. Jeez just asking.
  14. It’s like watching a bad sitcom except you can’t change the channel for four years.
  15. Authorizing it for day to day wear. The MAJCOM guidance I recall from AMC and ANG back in July said “not for in garrison wear”. Understandable before the OCP change on Oct 1st. I was wondering if anyone has either seen that policy change or if anyone has a local policy in place that could be plagiarized.
  16. If anyone out there has local guidance on the wear of the A2CU day-to-day, please PM me.
  17. We kind of need the airmen to follow the AFI. It’s not their fault. Leaders like the Supers, CCs, MAJCOMS (I’m not holding my breath) need to step up.
  18. I am in the guard. The fight continues there. Maybe I should have said that the career field is broken in the MAF across the total force enterprise.
  19. The AFE career field in the MAF is hard broke. They have horrible guidance from the FAM/MAJCOM level. Some shops have strong SNCO leadership but the ones that don’t end up like what you’re reading about above.
  20. Maybe we should all just blow off saluting as well under the guise of “oh, I’m sorry sir/ma’am, I could not see your rank.” That would upset the shoe clerks so much that they would be forced to take action. I 100% agree with whoever said we should go back to the same blue thread we used for BDUs and ABUs. Or, just use black because your shirt says US AIR FORCE anyway. Spice brown is stupid.
  21. I thought the same thing. Apparently I am as wrong as this guy... https://
  22. Concur. It’s a lengthy process.
  23. Flying boats should be our # 1 priority The new tanker should also be our #1 priority F-35? #1 in my book Light attack...numero uno!
  24. Not sure if that’s the case Clark. I thought DD’s was dripping with sarcasm. Everything is the #1 priority, right? Why not add a flying boat to the list... I think yours might be Code 3.
