    Mustache March

That shirt would not approve of the full Fu-Manchu I am attempting this year. I was hoping for a full James Hetfield (that's the lead singer for Metallica for you Tops in Blue fans) but it is not off to a good start.
  2. Don't even consider it. Even if you end up non-continued, you are likely going to try to at least go the guard or reserves, right? There is more than one way to end up with an active duty retirement and you would be foolish to risk a ton of potential future money for $30K.
  3. Tell that to Phil Mickleson....he didn't seem to grasp that concept either. Then again, he went to Arizona State.
  4. Go spend a few years in the Army before you convince yourself that is true.
  5. Very interesting. I remember being 16 years old and asking three doctors I respected if I should pursue becoming an MD. All said "NO!" If a 16 year old asked me now if they should pursue becoming an Air Force pilot, I would still say "YES!"
  6. I was at the chamber (or whatever that newfangled system is) at Nellis last week and ran into two guys headed back to the Viper. Stoked for them.
  7. With a name like "AceMohr" who is surprised another unit picked you up?!
  8. So you have ties to Ft. Collins yet you would rather fly a Lear-35 in C. Springs than a Herc in Cheyenne? I have read some crazy shit on base ops, but that might be the craziest.
  9. That question is coved in depth all over this forum. It if course depends. From my observation, the one jet you can commute to is the 135.
  10. This hasn't been approved yet and is separate from the AGR bonus. I've also been asking what a "critically manned unit" is and I am yet to hear an answer.
  11. No gouge on them other than an email I got two years ago saying they are way overmanned. Don't forget about the 187th in Cheyenne. Awesome unit, great airplane, live in Ft. Collins, drink great beer.
  12. It depends. If you are talking about a standard set of title 10 AGR tour orders, probably. If you are talking about long term MPA or something like that, I doubt it. If your unit just "puts you on orders," no way. In other words, if you are going into the AGR program (ie sending documents to REAMO), yes. If it is something local, no.
  13. The exact contract wording lives on the REAMO website. Access through the portal and there is a link on the front page of REAMO. FY12 simaliar to other years: 4 at 25 for initial, either 2,3, or 4 at 15 for others. Hindsight, I have seen a few folks choose ART over AGR but they are rare.
  14. Paul, there are no guides like that "Guide to Avoiding Retreating Brain Stall" like the sold in Daleville back in the day. Moosepileit's recs are good and of course, the boldface/caps and ops limits of the T-6 would be nice to have down, but certainly not mandatory on day 1. I think there is some good T-6 gouge here on BOPS. I would shoot for "familiarize" as opposed to "memorize" at this point.
  15. It has been done....but not in a few years to my knowledge. If you want to try to get the gouge, track down the reservists at RND; last I heard there was at least one guy there who is a TR after retiring from AD. In person I saw someone ask this very question to General Stenner when he was the boss and he said he was totally against that idea.
  16. Valid. That clip nevers get old.
  17. I just heard on Jim Rome that UW fined him $50,000 and suspended him.
  18. So was the USAFA QB intentionally faking an injury to stop the clock? I did a little internet searching and couldn't find much.
  19. I was in a Guard fighter squadron that had that rule then didn't have that rule....and it was a disaster. I am not sure any of the "commuters" ever went a whole year without being on RAP probation. I won't speak for Tulsa (or any ANG unit) but I bet it has more to do with unit combat effectiveness/morale than paying travel costs for AT orders.
  20. SIE=quit...no matter how you rationalize it. I suggest you own up to that on your pursuit of a guard/reserve slot.
  21. These guys gave a brief at the SETP (Society of Experimental Test Pilots) conference last week; it was pretty cool. I will certainly watch the show when I can.
  22. In the guard and reserve boards I have sat on, the answer is "no." If you saw the stacks and stacks of amazing applicants, you'd understand why we would not even consider someone who SIEd out of OTS.
  23. "all fighter pilots have hot wives..." He must be referring to fighter pilots in Sweden or Norway.
  24. That was great! Heritage!
