Is this for real?

It gets pretty intense at 07:31:07!

Reminds me of my last active duty DO. He HATED the Guard. Busted on the Guard at every opportunity. They sucked, would always suck, and anyone who left the active duty to join the Guard sucked. His bitching was funny for a while but eventually got worn out and old. I guess I sucked because I left the active duty and joined the guard. After I got to my unit I found out he had applied to fly there and got turned down. It all started to make sense......

Well played...

Which is a bit like asking God when he knows he's made a mistake.

You assume you'll have airplanes to fly when you get there........

Chinese condoms too small for South Africans: report Fri, Sep 16, 2011.... A South African court has blocked the government from buying 11 million Chinese condoms, saying they are too small, a newspaper reported Friday. Link at Yahoo At the risk of sounding racist...why does this not surprise me.

Yeah. That, and it was the Chief of Staff of the Air Force who personally told him to shave it off. Not some admin clerk NCO with a hard on about the Air Force song and sock colors. Some of the most effective leaders I have served with in the Air Force have been SNCOs, but I must have missed the AFI that now requires the most misguided, poorly developed and ineffective SNCOs to leap to the front of the "leadership" train. I'm assuming it's an AFI, because that seems to be the only force that provides vector in today's Air Force. Every single one of these buffoons works for a senior officer. Where the hell are they? WHO are they? I guess in the absence of real officer leadership, it's not surprising that someone else is stepping into the void. But frankly, the net result is making the entire Air Force look like a three ring clown act. I guess this is the inevitable result of building "leaders" through online PME.

If you are online this morning you HAVE to look at this

This is pretty amusing too. Video at link at the bottom. MYFOXNY.COM - A local news reporter from Washington, D.C. ended up getting covered in what is probably the remnants of raw sewage as he delivered live hurricane reports from Ocean City, Md. WTTG-TV reporter Tucker Barnes was providing live updates for stations around the country as a wall of what he described as sea foam poured over him. Barnes was on the boardwalk as Hurricane Irene hit the coast of Maryland He noted that he had immersed himself in organic material. That "organic material" was most likely the effects of raw sewage pouring into the water during the storm. "It doesn't taste great," he said. Did the caption also say something about Miss BDUs becoming a survival snack for her buddy shortly after the picture was taken?

Please tell me that letter is a joke. At best, it would appear spell check hasn't made it to Ali Al Salem. And someone should inform the CC that it is "Tops IN Blue". Not "Tops AND Blue". In the desparate hope that it was a joke, I actually went to the 386AEW website https://www.386aew.afcent.af.mil/. Sure enough, there is a video right there on the front page about the Tops in and Blue concert. It included several shots of the "electrified" crowd. Except the theater was half full, and the crowd was sitting (but apparently that is "the entire base"). Looks like they had band members trying to gin up some enthusiasm in the crowd by showing them how move their arms. I'm sure the TIB performers are talented. But someone explain to me how it makes sense to spend money on them to play to half full theaters of tired and bored looking airmen who would probably much rather be watching Jersey Shore reruns for free on a big screen.

Ouch. Not sure Yeager is doing anyone, including himself, any good with comments like that. Let the investigations do their work and discuss the lessons learned later.

I don't really recall. I'm sure it was something along the lines of "raising morale, lifting spirits, brothers and sisters in arms, trained killers, front line warriors......"
-
Oh yeah. That would really help..... [

The lack of deployed speedbrakes is kind of strange. Not trying to speculate. But that was one of the first things that caught my eye.

Shouldn't the Wing Commander be publishing memos regarding the standards that will be enforced in his wing? Or do Wing Commanders now abdicate their authority and enforcement of standards to SNCOs? I had the pleasure of serving under Gen Ron Keys while he was the Wing Commander at Eielson. He introduced himself to the pilots of the base by telling us that we should picture his face in our HUDs while we flew. If we couldn't explain to him what we were doing while we did it, we probably shouldn't be doing it. He also very clearly explained that if he was forced to do the jobs of other people assigned to his wing, he didn't need them. And if he didn't need them, he'd fire them. He was a man who led by example, took responsibility for leading his wing, and made it clear to all in his wing what his expectations were. He certainly didn't ask his SNCOs to take command of standard enforcement. That entire letter absolutely reeks of a complete absence of effective practical leadership at ASAB. To tap into the Chief's line of thinking, he would be more accurate to trace the lack of basic discipline to a lack of professional morale. That in turn, can be traced to a lack of leadership from the top. Forget mustaches and tucked in shirts. Somebody send that base an actual leader. The rest will follow and the Chief can go back to being something other than a TI.

Heritage? I think they are trying to help RIF'd majors find new careers in the current economy.

It was seven weeks long when I went in the late 90's. But it had the same impact on me. I showed up a career Air Force officer and left with a goal of finding a different career path. My SOS flight commander was a C-141 nav who told us the first day that he took the SOS job to guarantee ACSC in residence. Brilliant. That's exactly the kind of guy I want mentoring young CGOs. SOS was my first and last experience with PME. I left the active duty a year later and joined the ANG. A GREAT move. Spent my career in the cockpit and made O-5 without anymore PME or a masters degree.

Given some of the "leadership" I've watched move up the square filling ladder recently, I'd actually prefer a dead guy from the Vietnam era. For that matter, any carcass from any era would do. King Tut would be kind of cool. And less damaging to actual mission accomplishment.

Good rant. I'm sensing a bit of frustration....

Just saying.......

Hmmmmmmm.....

Good point. - Keen inablty to discrn srcsm and humr makes him exclnt cnddt for (fill in appropriate level of PME) in rsdnc--Apnt pres of CGOC for lfe! Fixed it. Just use more !!!!!!! to fill in white space if required

I guess you missed the humor in the post I was responding to. Or maybe you're just jealous I thought of it first. Don't worry...I've got one for your OPR too. - Keen inability to discern sarcasm and humor makes him an excellent candidate for (fill in appropriate level of PME) in residence--Appoint president of CGOC for life!
