  1. If you do that, you're almost guaranteed to be promoted.
  2. Sort of. We still carry paper pubs at Tyndall.
  3. seem like we were just firing people an assignment ago .... weird
  4. I flew with one every sortie. Even over water .... it MIGHT stay dry enough to work again.
  5. 1. Ask to speak with the first officer in the finance chain 2. Have the JTR reference that shows you should be reimbursed for dragging a trailer. 3. The burden of proof is on FINANCE to show you the reg/reference that says 21 feet max. 4. If you think their proof is in violation of the JTR (which trumps local policy and afi), elevate. 5. If finance turns out to be right, work to fix the process so the next round of b-course dity movers aren't similarly surprised. 6. Profit
  6. You can 3-day opt a 365 like you always could. You can no longer set a DOS if you get a 179 to get out of the 179. Did you notice that almost all the 365s have been split into 2x 179s. Weird coincidence I'm sure. (If you already have a DOS set before notification of a 179 you should be good. Of course if you have a DOS in the next 6 months you shouldn't be getting a 179 ....)
  7. Brilliant!! Btw, the fighter porch is on Facebook now....so you can get/give info straight to the horses mouth. They recently announced they got approval to leave folks in white jets and rtu IP slots for 2 consecutive assignments (6 years). So if that's something you're interested in, adp it. Also working on a bonus (with associated adsc) for 16-20 year dudes. Less free agency makes flesh peddling easier.
  8. Which is part of the Afpc problem. I very specifically said in writing on my adp that I'd only accept x,y, or z. Afpc decided they knew better*, offered what they thought was a fantastic assignment, that everyone clamours for, that's in high demand ..,, that wasn't x,y, or z. And they lost another fighter pilot. Maybe not a very good one ... but a fighter pilot nonetheless. *-or had an unfilled requirement.
  9. I got the fighter porch to admit, during a vml webinar, that they do and will "negotiate with terrorists" if you're on the fence, or a free agent, make it known on your adp. If you're really feeling froggy, put "I will accept assignment to x, y, or z or I will separate/retire". (If that is, in fact, your reality .... might as well use it to your advantage). (Full disclosure, I used that approach and 7-day opted an assignment that wasn't on my list)
  10. CL may mean "contract lodging" in the afi above. Remember, despite what the lodging manager will tell you, if it goes on your credit card, it is NOT contract lodging. Just because the manager/base has some deal with the local Roach motel doesn't mean you have to use it.
  11. They'll cite security concerns or good order and discipline or some other nebulous reason. If you have nothing to lose, ask for the order in writing ....
  12. FALSE. and disobeying an order will have consequences.
  13. What he said. You only have to check once. If they send you off base to a specific hotel and say come back in X days, I usually politely agree, get all the details, get the piece of paper that says "go to hotel Y for Z days," and then go stay wherever the hell I want for the duration. I've never had a voucher not approved for the duration. Of course, having the JTR reference helps ... just don't argue with the lodging folks .... take it up with finance on the voucher side of things.
  14. Well you COULD. .... it just wouldn't be as sexy. Reference archers/pythons on everything that can limp into the air.
  15. It's like having the most awesome job in the world, with an awesome team of coworkers. But having to do that job in a prison. Its a sweet gig. But you're still in a prison.
  16. Only the best of the best get hand selected to go groom the next generation in aetc.
  17. If it was glass it would break when I fall down ....
  18. So we're really concerned about the feelings of a cadet now?
  19. What if I told you gay eagle dudes are now gay raptor dudes. (Keanu contemplation image)
  20. Hump dudes evidently.
  21. Shhhhhh. Don't tell anyone. It was once the closest thing to the proverbial flying club I had ever seen. Once.
  22. Yerp. Wave of the future and past. 1.3 of yelling "pew pew pew" and kill removing. And, pound for pound, the greatest consumers of grilled cheese sammiches in the active duty.
