Those are fair points. It still surprised me, however, how absolutely anti-masker some of my friends are. Like End-of-the-Republic serious about it. Yeah, I’m sure China and Russia are not fully reporting their cases, but that is not relevant to the failed leadership the USA has demonstrated on the issue in our own country.

Certainly people have died this year who otherwise would not have died because of COVID. I think we can finally put to rest that this is just like the flu since infection rates are so high. Just because the death rate is so low does not mean it’s not having a tremendous effect on the country, especially on our health care system. I agree that much of the lockdown was overkill, but American resistance to pandemic countermeasures is the reason we have 5% of the world’s population but 25% of the world’s COVID cases.

My guess is that the overhead usually ends with a final approach phase of about a mile and 300 ft. I get that aim points are different in fast movers but if you’re not going to use the approach lighting system for awareness it makes sense to at least have the ILS dialed in. It also assists C-17 pilots in landing at the correct airport. Edit: okay, if your overhead ends at 0.5 nm and 150, yeah I get not needing the ILS. My comments were more based on flying a night visual and not a night overhead, which I would never do.

Why not? It seems like such a simple thing to give yourself another tool to fly a visual approach. This is truly what I see as the great cultural difference between fighter pilots and heavy pilots. That and an irrational avoidance of the word “head”.

Doesn’t it go to the senate in this case? Edit: state delegations of the House of Reps vote for President and state delegations from the senate choose VP. 12th amendment or something.

I think you’re being sarcastic with this, but I’ve always been surprised at how few pilots are interested in instrument refresher. I get that the CBT is boring af....which is why I advocate for in-person IRC.

Did his competitor spend months laying the seeds of doubt about the upcoming test so that they could, on test day, cry that the test was fouled up? If similar irregularities occurred in 2016 are you saying that we should have re-run that election too? Or is 2020 the first time we've ever had vote irregularities? How far are you willing to go to see Trump installed as President on January 20th? Sure it’s going to spread, so we do nothing? Cases are spiking in places like Utah because people gotta have “ma freedoms”. Anti-mask sentiment in much of the country is strong. It’s stupid. Masks work to reduce the spread not eliminate it.

As a military member Trump has caused me to greatly doubt the ability of the CinC to lead the nation in a time of crisis. That has been an overall negative effect on my life. My wife is a small business owner: no effect one way or another....local politics and issues have much more impact than who is in the WH. I suspect that you won't find many minorities and/or jobless who are proud to have DJT in the WH. A question I've posed in this forum before and gotten little response from DJT devotees: Would you want him as your Wg/CC or Sq/CC? I recognize that a political leader is a different beast than a military leader, but I simply can't wrap my mind around how someone would follow what DJT is putting out there.
