  1. That depends of course on which box is checked. The BL can be supremely important if P is checked.
  2. Depends. CDIs report facts and investigators publish their conclusions. Commanders make career decisions if appropriate. In my CDI I spent a month investigating alleged UCMJ violations and the WG/CC decided on a punishment based on the facts in the report. The investigator usually doesn’t make recommendations unless requested by the commander.
  3. Sure! My Legal Advisor emailed me a copy of the CDI Guide and showed me the Manual for courts Martial (available online by the way). He was there to answer any questions I had and to give guidance but for the rest I had to “self-learn myself”.
  4. I ran a CDI in a group in my current wing. Small potatoes compared to what went down at Laughlin. My report dismissed most allegations and substantiated just one. My report, including evidence, testimony, and such was over 200 pages long. Theres always more to the story. It’s contained in the CDI and my guess is that this report is pretty massive and detailed. And we’ll never know because we’re not entitled to the report.
  5. I was being sarcastic. Of course there was an investigation. And I trust that they did a complete investigation that put all the pieces together as good as they could. And this resulted in four firings.
  6. So many variations on the story of what happened. It’s almost like someone should have called an uninterested third party to come in and conduct an independent investigation.
  7. The Army can do this because an Army O-3 will have like 2 Lts and a hundred enlisted under his command. Hard to do that when you have flying squadrons in the Air Force with a hundred officers (including FGOs) and like 2 Airmen.
  8. Do you think T-1 pilots have naming ceremonies?
  9. Coyote tan boots? Shirts? And patches for every bag wearing schmuck out there? Yeah, I am sticking to my estimated timeline 😂 what I mean is: it took like three years to phase in green boots. Why would coyote tan be any different?
  10. Cool. So, 'soon" means "mandatory wear date 2023..." ?
  11. What’s the concrete like on all these old retired UPT bases? Are any of them still functioning without a billion dollars of concrete upgrades?
  12. No doubt. I’m sure they were shocked at the blowback at trying to sneak ADSCs in on the sly during an aircrew retention crisis.
  13. That turned into “there is NO ADSC for this training. At all.” It’s weird enough that I think it must be an April Fools joke in October.
  14. 1961: Beware the complex. 2019: Don’t mess with the complex.

  16. Asking if we have erred strategically in placing such a large fleet of expensive assets in harm's way is a valid question. It's an ORM problem akin to a preflight ORM. There is a level of acceptable risk with each mission and with each basing decision. Looking to see if this risk was appropriately evaluated is pretty much what we do anytime there is an aircraft mishap. We have plenty of AF assets in tornado alley. Lots of others sit in other beach-side hurricane zones. Some sit on earthquake faults. But, just like any aircraft mishap, we need to look back and decide if the risk was worth the price. In this case, it was potentially an extremely steep price.
  17. Also, it's a fighter base on the beach...
  18. I can speak for the -135 community only... Civilian contract covers all initial (Altus) and continuation (most big -135 bases have 1 or 2 sims on base -- continuation sims: 4 sims per year focusing on a different system). Each day there are periods of open sim time (referred to as "government time") where the sim is available for USAF use (check rides, whatever). USAF IPs run the sim during these periods because there generally isn't any formal syllabus training going on (except for some AR training at McConnell, or tactics, or stuff like that). Pilots can use these "government time" periods to slay beans, work on proficiency, etc. And now, back to your regularly scheduled Track Select thread. 😄
  19. -135 IPs can run the sims (for check rides, gov time, and such) but they aren’t teaching continuation sims are they?
  20. I've seen many retirees receive letters from former (living) presidents, but I've never seen them replace the current president's letter. From the article: "The day of the ceremony, Owens learned about the airman’s plans to include the presentation of a certificate from Obama, but not current President Trump. Owens felt this was disrespectful to Trump, and assumed the airman was planning to make the ceremony “a political statement” that would make Owens “look like a fool.” Still seems like a toxic commander, and it was probably a good thing he was removed.
  21. So the ADSC policy changed without any of the Generals knowing what was going on, but it takes Corona to straighten out the mess? That checks. I'm sure implementation will occur during the next re-write...in 6 years.
  22. Once I found out that it’s never the first or last circle I got much better at that test.
  23. Boeing probably intends to sell the T-X to foreign nations as a basic fighter with basic fighter capabilities. If that's the case then an AR system makes sense.
  24. It's also led to broken boom nozzles.
