  1. It's a great idea to lock in military pilots. Just wish they'd take a look at my app.
  2. My dad's air medals from Vietnam are pretty important to me.
  3. That's a small group tryout only. Still a long way out from VR replacing the T-1. The T-1 is going away anyway, so it will need to be replaced with something.
  4. You don't say....
  5. I don't remember this. Been at Vance since 2018. Musta been a T-6 thing. I think Laughlin still needs to give us our T-1s back that we lent them after the hail damage.... šŸ˜„
  6. Are you serious? Jesus is sick of your bullshit.
  7. I also strongly suggest I consider FedEx.... Rumor is they have 10,000 profiles and 2,000+ with internal recs. Hard to get a call from Purple unless you have someone who can walk into the chief pilot's office. Just keep hitting Submit!
  8. I feel you there. Though I didn't have a lifetime dream of flying in the Air Force growing up. There is more to flying in the Air Force than a paycheck. I enjoy my job. I like my coworkers. Job satisfaction is high for me right now. I'm also at the end of my career and am transitioning to the civilian sector where my flying training will be properly valued (at least by second year pay--I don't believe that the airlines pay well out of the goodness of their heart). I'm proud of what I've done in the Air Force, I'm grateful for the places I've been, the people I've met, and the missions I've flown. So many people in life are just angry. Angry at "the Air Force", angry at "the libs", angry at whatever. I also understand that many have had negative experiences in the Air Force. I have too. I was non-vol'd to Afghanistan for 364.5 days during a time where Greens were killing Blues. But I also had doors open from that experience that served me well later in my career. I wish I made $300/hr plus profit sharing in the Air Force. I'd stay longer. But the money has been good enough and now I'm moving on. And a great big "thank you" for those who leave after their UPT commitment is up too! You served. Most Americans can't say the same. Go make that bank. Buy that boat, plane, or second wife. Enjoy life. Be happy. Staying in the Air Force isn't for everyone. But it is for some.
  9. The KC-10 cockpit has always been a dinosaur. Is the C-17 doing LNAV/VNAV and LPV? What about the block 45 -135?
  10. So, kind of like bops.net?
  11. Those will be repaired and sent straight to retirement most likely. Different pot of money.
  12. Smarter Every Day on YouTube did an interesting series on life on a sub. He showed how they generate oxygen by burning huge candles. No idea if they have something like that on board. Thinking about the movie U-571 makes me shudder.
  13. Back when men were men, and they thought they could burn water.... šŸ˜‚
  14. I thought I remember reading that it was a substantiated allegation of frat but I donā€™t remember where I read that and I may be wrong.
  15. Depends on how itā€™s written next year. In 2014 I signed the bonus for 5 years. In 2015 I was allowed to renegotiate to 20 YAS.
  16. Hey, I didn't write the forum rules.....nor am I a mod/admin......
  17. Not what I said.
  18. No one. But your exemption on those grounds is personal. Not religious.
  19. Interesting. In the early 2000s IFT was a ā€œgo to the FBO and get a PPL on Uncle Samā€™s dimeā€ program. It was great. And had zero influence on my ability to fly the Tweet upside down or in fingertip.
  20. Well yeah. But no major religion prohibits vaccines. Some minor religions have prohibitions on transfusions for example, but to say you have a prohibition against vaccines if you belong to a church that has no such restrictions means you really have a ā€œpersonalā€ exemption. Not religious.
  21. Curious as to which religions take issue with vaccines? I know that Jehovahā€™s Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventist have well known restrictions. Or are we talking ā€œpersonalā€ religion?
  22. Yes. That's exactly right. I mean, I just finished Operation Varsity Blues on Netflix, so maybe that's coloring my opinion a little. But this is exactly how D1 college scholarships work almost all of the time. I see this in my own small town where our swim club has a hard time competing with nearby large city clubs because we don't have access to the facilities and professional coaches that they have.
  23. Iā€™d agree with this. When I went to UPT IFT was a PPL. Making a PPL part of the selection does limit the type of person that is competitive for a UPT slot. Kind of like you need to have a rich mom and dad to get onto the sailing team at Stanford.
  24. Check Next President thread and take your pick.
