  2. And you would be correct, but he was on a roll. https://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/corres/pdf/134025p.pdf
  3. Most of AU probably isn't interested in improving. Probably true but take a close look at some of the things taking place at AU through "transformation." Many of the top positions have lowered ranks as the top guy. Many of the top "academics" have been moved to different positions and the Spaatz Center was just eliminated from what I understand. Maybe this is all much ado about nothing, but it looks like Gen Kwast is making some decisions that are going to impact the future there, one way or another.
  4. Because... SERVICE! I don't entirely disagree with you, but I don't think it's a moot argument either. I can tell you from experience that, as of about five years ago, that the AF did not have a way to recoup the costs of UPT from a member being kicked out. And I know that an AMC GO tried to figure out a way to do it.
  5. You are still grandfathered under the highest amount even if promoted. I still receive my previous rank BAH since it is higher than my current rank BAH.
  6. HPO may mean different things to different people but it stands for High Potential Officer. This term gets thrown around a lot but in AMC you are identified as an HPO when you are promoted below the zone, typically. There are a few caveats to that and I don't know them all but that is the gist of it. I think technically an HPO is multiple below the zone or you have 4-star interest. Capts are not HPOs but may be getting special attention in order to build their record to make them competitive for BTZ. It actually takes a lot of effort and time to build a record that is competitive for BTZ promotion. YMMV.
  7. Which argument is that? Are you referring to the none of them reflect well on you argument?
  8. Yes, my last board results shifted 2.5 months. It is very common, especially when the results span a substantial holiday period.
  9. You seem to have the info you need. A letter to the board asking to not be promoted will, more likely than not, give you the result you want. It will make you ineligible for separation pay in almost all cases...see the AFI. A promotion and pinning on does not carry an ADSC. But may have kept someone else off the list. BL: do what you feel comfortable with.
  10. That checks.
  11. This is getting a good bit of coverage right now. https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/56327ee9e4b0c66bae5bc0f3 It's a video of Christie in NH on addiction.
  12. There has been a rated staff allocation plan for as long as I can remember. It may have changed over the years but it has existed. Have seen the IDE select thing has been on some positions in the past as well. Call it doubling down if you want. I won't argue that point but there is not very much new here.
  13. Official notification to individuals is today at 1400z.
  14. The aircraft call sign is Torqe. I am fairly confident that several people in the squadron asked the designers of the shirt to change it.
  15. They landed at Dover about 2 hours ago. God bless their families.

And while my post was quite flippant, your position is incredibly naive. To say that only someone who lost limbs is deserving of a disability rating is incredibly insulting. There are plenty of people out there that haven't lost a limb but have severe disabilities and need every bit of help that they can get. So, while I will refrain from putting words in your mouth, unlike what you chose to do, think about your position the next time you see some one with TBI that is missing half their skull. I will assume that you do not know someone personally that is truly affected by a disability worthy of a rating. Until then continue to talk in absolutes and pontificate from your soapbox.
  19. Names are out on the 455 AEW website. Couldn't find that link and Tunes beat me to the other link. Stars and Stripes has it here: https://www.stripes.com/news/us/victims-of-c-130-crash-in-Afghanistan-identified-1.371654

Sounds to me like your beef is really with a system that rewards this behavior. Hate the game, not the player. Until then, continue to rage against the machine.
