Where did you hear that? Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

Last year was one or two candidates per DT from what I understand. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

After looking at it since the Jan 13 version came out, that AFI reference only mentions in-residence versus any other completion method. You may be correct especially based on other indicators from that wing. That being said, the old AFI said exactly what the exec spouted. Maybe a bro could point that out to the guy and the Gp and Sq CCs need to address with their boss. However having some PME push is appropriate and it looks like there is not one based on the comment to confirm that rater and addl rater do not want a PME push. If it continues after being pointed out, then you probably need to take it to someone other than BO.net to have it looked at. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

Ok, got it. However, that is NOT Wing policy, rather it is AF policy, which is why I was a little slow on the uptake. The exec is taking that right out of AFI 36-2406 para 1.12.3.4.3.1.3, almost verbatim. Although it now only talks about in-residence completion versus correspondence so maybe the exec needs to have that pointed out to him. What I saw was that there was no PME push whatsoever. He asked the chain to confirm they did not want a PME push in the bottom line. That seems to me to be what the exec was asking and then went on to explain the AFI information above. Information on PCS/moves/moving (DITY, TMO, DLA, storage)
Herk Driver replied to SUX's topic in General Discussion
It depends. While at Kirtland, where are you living? Dorms or billeting? If you are assigned to the dorms/ gov't quarters from what I can tell you will not get BAH. Billeting is not considered gov't qtrs, so if in billeting you should get BAH. Check out the JFTR, it can answer all your questions. Search Chapter 10. Edited to add: See U10416 specifically. I think you will receive BAH-T while enroute if leaving an OCONUS base and BAH if leaving a CONUS base. Maybe Finance Guy will chime in. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! -
This is an apples and oranges comparison. The comment is not about a guy practice bleeding. It is about pushing a guy for SDE in residence so when he meets his O5 board he has a shot at being a select. Or did I miss something? Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

This is an appellate review. Facts and evidence don't really get reviewed during an appeal. Errors get reviewed. The trial record and transcript would have the evidence, not the appeal. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

FY 15 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
Herk Driver replied to C-21.Pilot's topic in General Discussion
I stand corrected on the 10 year piece. First time I have seen that. That aside, if the AF/DOD waive a requirement via PSDM and an FM program then I think you will be ok. I would suggest talking to the separations and education folks at your base before separation. Have the PSDM in hand that talks specifically to the 9/11 GI bill part. Have them make a call to the VA and see if they can't get it figured out. Figure out exactly what you need so you don't have this problem in the future. I have not seen the PSDM but does it talk about 9/11 GI bill benefits or does it specifically address transfer of benefits? They are not the same thing. If it does then I think you have a solid case. If your friend is already out, I would suggest calling back to his base, the TFSC and if neither work then a letter to his congressman with all the documentation above. This usually gets the bureaucracy in motion unlike a phone call to a small part of it. Additionally, since you are talking about one part of government setting guidelines and another implementing those guidelines it gets messy and you need someone that can work across both organizations to get a solid answer. That sounds similar to a crew at AUAB back in the day. Sitting Bravo, watched a movie late out between the tent rows (O and P). Blocked the road for the crew van and gave the duty dawg a hard time when he asked them to move. Made a lot of noise that kept others awake and finally went to bed. Several hours later they were alerted. He filled out the ORM sheet with several sarcastic comments about no sleep or very little sleep. IIRC, next to quality of sleep he wrote, "yeah, right." The ORM numbers required a call to the Sq/CC and then the OG. Not sure that the Sq/CC even got a phone call before the duty crew called the OG directly. The crew had stepped to the airplane before hearing back. The OG did not approve and called the crew back in. I don't remember the consequences but the AC got his ass handed to him, at a minimum for not using good judgement. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

FY 15 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
Herk Driver replied to C-21.Pilot's topic in General Discussion
Not really the right thread but I am calling BS. Right off the VA website is the following "The transferability option under the Post-9/11 GI Bill allows Servicemembers to transfer all or some unused benefits to their spouse or dependent children. The Department of Defense (DoD) determines whether or not you can transfer benefits to your family. Once the DoD approves benefits for transfer, the new beneficiaries apply for them at VA. To find out more, visit the DoDs website or apply now." In black and white, DOD determines whether you can x-fer benefits not the VA. If your friend was really told this then he needs to re-attack. There has never been a 10-year rule on transferring benefits. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! -
American Flag Shoulder Patch Out of Regs?!?!

Urban legend. Plenty of mail moves in trucks down the interstate that are barely marked...definitely no flag on them. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! -
Gen Robinson during her recent Maxwell academic circle talks said that this is being pushed from the SecDef and SECAF right now. What was stated above is exactly the push. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

Chuck, I agree with most of what you wrote but... Other services (at least the Army) do not send people to residence PME once those folks have completed correspondence PME. There are people out there that did not get an AAD through TA but instead did what Jumper and now what Welsh is advocating. It is possible to follow the rules as written. Again, as you point out the requirement is still there just pushed well down the road. And you never have more time on your hands as you take on more and more leadership and responsibility. American Flag Shoulder Patch Out of Regs?!?!

ACC sup (the one I have may be outdated) leaves it up to the installation commander. I realize this is an AETC issue but can't find that sup right now. This has always been an issue. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! -
American Flag Shoulder Patch Out of Regs?!?!
Herk Driver replied to Magruber's topic in General Discussion
There are no hard and fast rules on this which is why I was not absolute in what I said. How about, If the local sup or local policy says that you will wear the wing patch on the left shoulder of the FDU then at that base it would be out of regs or at least a violation of local policy. Back when Herks were ACC, this was a constant battle. Nothing that hasn't been done before. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! -
American Flag Shoulder Patch Out of Regs?!?!
Herk Driver replied to Magruber's topic in General Discussion
Typically the flag is worn by AMC guys. Others either wear WIC patches or their Wing patch, normally. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! -
The kid is being tried as a juvenile, so in this case, he is a "minor" as well. In addition he is being charged with production of child porn by taking pictures of himself...so they are both minors Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!
