  1. Yep, you made my point. Safety considerations indoors and in a well lit building make his wearing of the reflective belt a violation of both the installation commander's policy and -2903. Welcome to Article 92.
  2. BINGO!
  3. Someone please show me where -2903 allows the wear of a reflective belt. Then show me where -2903 allows the wear of one indoors and in service dress or blues.
  4. Never seen that in writing, but you can take a look around the -130 community and see that is almost an unwritten rule. There are exceptions, YMMV. I know a guy who pretty much won't hire you unless you are a patch.
  5. Agree on point one. On point two, in the fighter world, that is probably true. Not necessarily true in the AMC world these days. YMMV.
  6. There are limits on the max reimbursable value of some items if you end up going through the USAF for reimbursement. So, yes, it was true that there were limits once upon a time when you had to file a claim with the gov't and is still true if you wind up filing a claim with the gov't for one reason or another. Do you have the reference for that?
  7. OK, let me get this straight. You are a USAF pilot and have been for 6 years? A flight doc diagnosed you with psoriasis and has not given you anything to treat it with or you are just not happy with the results? Either way you want to try something else that you think may permanently DNIF you? The answer that allows you to "keep the wings but take care of this" are talk to your flight doc about your concerns. Find out what his short-term and long-term treatment plans are. You said, "I don't know if I can request it". What does that mean? You think you will get DNIF'd for asking about a particular medical treatment? WTF?
  8. I don't know...with all the house cleaning the USAF has been doing lately maybe they are interested enough to sweep the skeletons out of the closet. She should not still be sucking on the taxpayer tit.
  9. Here's a toast.
  10. Done this several times. Never been charged leave. It was as stated above. Used a duty day to travel down and pick it up. Only remember getting reimbursed for one way, but I probably just got screwed over by the man on that one. Either way, no leave required.
  11. In before the lock...
  12. Dude, the RA doesn't run the sqaudron. That being said, the Sq/CC may have told him to implement just as he/she is doing. As previously said, t/w your flight/CC and if he confirms that the RA is correct them give up. Otherwise, ask the Flight/CC to help or take it up with an ADO, the DO or the boss when you get a chance. On another note, I thought the jackets that have been getting issued the last couple of years already had the pocket and armpit mod. The quality of the jackets I've seen lately suck. You might opt to just buy one from Pop's. If you have a C-17 or Ramstein buddy or someone stationed at Incirlik, have them mail it to you through the USPS.
  13. I can confirm that if you take leave while TDY you will lose the funding for your room and the per diem (at least my AD experience has been that way). The Non-A piece, I am not aware of. Not familiar with Altus pass limits, but at one point at LR (for example) you could take a pass anywhere in the CONUS if you fly but there were limits if you drive. I would speculate that the non-a would still be good since you are required to check for lodging only once, but I am not the expert in that field and you never know what obscure things exist in the JFTR. I would suggest down-loading the JFTR and doing a search through the .pdf doc for the lodging piece and read for yourself.
  14. Since you said you were a young pilot, I will assume for the moment that you are an O versus an E. Pretty safe assumption. First, you don't volunteer to help other units through AFPC. Those are usually deals that are worked by the squadrons or OG's. Second, where are you located? I'd love to get orders there so I can sit out a couple of deployments. Last, if you are going to talk to AFPC, then make sure you have talked with your supervisor and CC first. All officer assignments, 365's, etc are routed through the Sq/CC. Nothing a CC likes more than getting a phone call from the guy working the desk at AFPC telling him that one of his pilots has volunteered for everything under the sun and the guy hasn't even stopped by to chat. Good way to end up on the radar and not in a good way. The only real advice here: If there is a unit out there that has folks that are exhausted in it, figure out which unit, see if they'd be willing to have you deploy with them, work out all the details and take that to your CC. Tell him you are a volunteer and see what he says. Are you at an associate unit or at an active duty base? E, H or J qual'd? I may be able to steer you to a unit that will take your help. Edit: Can't spell good.
  15. Haha, that's funny because another 2-3 years before that, a couple ran off the runway in the AOR.
  16. Total Force Integration
  17. I would say you could refuse quarters at any point and from that point on you would get the applicable on-base rate. On the second item, don't count on them giving you a Non-A after you have refused on-base qtrs.
  18. "I'm average, I'm mediocre". Wow. BAMF
  19. According to AF magazine, B-52 IOC was 6/19/55. Aircraft delivered between Nov 55 and Oct 62. KC-135 was IOC Jun 1957 with aircraft delivered between Jan 57-65. In addition, B-52 avg age is 47.8 years, while AD -135s (209) are 47.0 avg. age, ANG (173) avg 48.4 yrs and AFRES (64) avg age 48.1. So, we're arguing over what exactly here? They are both operating at ages that aircraft have never operated at before and each day, week, month and year bring new problems that have to be dealt with. BL: The USAF needs a new tanker.
  20. All of that aside, the recent RF did cancel due to tanker availability.
  21. Done this twice; never had to pay an import fee/tax (AR and TX). Many states try to stick you with the sales tax when you get back. Is that what you're asking?
  22. However, it is the local CoS call whether to ask AFSC to release it in the first place. It sounds like he hasn't or won't ask.
  23. Sounds reasonable considering Big Blue didn't spend nearly as much money on them. Although I still disagree with the 10-year commitment.
  24. Hmmmph. I heard that the AG/CC at Dyess wants something fairly similar. The last guy specifically asked that nothing special be done. However, the new guy apparently wants crew bios and he is ticked that the O-6 sign is not always in the kick window. I think that the Mx guys may "forget" to put the sign on the airplane sometimes. I don't think I've ever heard of the other items that you mention above being required. I don't know. It's actually pretty easy if you try hard enough. For example, in the C-130, if you tried and had the correct flights, you could get your semi-annuals complete in less than 5-7 flights. Why is it too much to ask the Wing/CC to fly with a student when he comes down to fly? All he has to do is stay current so he doesn't need an IP. The currency that expires the fastest is the takeoff, approach and landing. So that means that he has to fly once every two months and if he does it on a night Tac sortie, he gets the other beans and currencies to boot. They just have to make time.
  25. Really? Never heard of a vasectomy as a treatment for testicular cancer.
