  1. WTFO? Seriously, this is a conversation?
  2. 2. If you are stationed there or that's your HOR, then not a big deal. There is a very tangled web of problems you could run into if that's not the case though. For example, if you ultimately want it registered in FL, you have to hold a stateside title on the car for a minimum of 6 months before registering in FL with no tax ramifications. Most states require you to register within 30 days of entering the state. Under SCRA, you can register in the state you are stationed or your HOR. So, doing so in a 3rd state makes for an interesting time. Just an example and only saying that the 'tax-free' sales pitch only goes so far.
  3. Beware the tax break. When you bring it back to the states, you will more than likely pay sales tax in whatever state you register. Especially if it is TX. If you can't show a bill of sale with sales tax paid, they will stick you for it.
  4. No, you're right, but MSgt X is also right. Since your para above, when taken in context has to be followed up with what he is saying, "2. Authorization/Approval. When a member provides acceptable documentation on a travel authorization/order/voucher of GOV’T QTRS non-availability, the AO must authorize/approve reimbursement for commercial lodgings." You have provided the 'acceptable documentation' and now the AO has to approve it before finance can pay you. If there was an ORI and the formal school provided the lodging info, I'm sure they worked with lodging to do this. Just contact lodging or the formal school and explain and see if a Non-A confirmation number was issued. They should have it. FWIW, I wouldn't think that the MPF would have to cut and amendment, rather the Chief of MPF should be able to sign off on the voucher just like an AO in the squadron could do on their own orders, but I'm no expert.
  5. As far as I can tell, they are correct. Do you have a Non-A from billeting? If so, end of story. Did you call and get told there were no rooms avail? If so, who and when; end of story. It sounds like you don't, so go to the MPF explain and show them in the JFTR where they need to provide documentation to finance, since they are the AO. What's the rest of the story? Did you refuse on-base lodging in this case or just decide not to spend the time to deal with on base?
  6. Seriously, you take this interweb thing too seriously. All us southern hicks don't ever watch any teams outside the SEC. No, you can't watch the Big 10 in the South; we don't know what that is. [/sarcasm] Paranoia, paranoia, everybody's coming to get you. I didn't see anyone slam you personally, but like sandlapper said, you were bound to bring out the cynicism from the loyal opposition.
  7. Ohio has a football team?
  8. I thought I was bad with number of moves, but you both have me beat (sts). In the middle of #10 in 16 years. Only been 3 years TOS at 2 places.
  9. Here's a toast...
  10. Yea, I should have said legacy 130.
  11. For argument's sake, have you seen a Q-3 sabotage a career before? I haven't. FEF's don't meet promotion boards. Not that I disagree with the sentiment of your post. However... Exactly. Never flown the -135 but... In the legacy -130, what is more accurate the drum or the needle for airspeed? They may not always be the same. So, which one do I use to write-up the flap overspeed? BL: The copilot knew what the reaction from the squadron leadership would be. The AC can be heralded all day for doing the right thing, and in the end (sts) she has to live with her decision. Not any of us. Edit: to add legacy
  12. 2
  13. No. The Army is usually much more expensive than anywhere else I have ever stayed so it's not DoD-wide and not even USAF wide. As an example, Ramstein TLFs were something along the lines of $45/day and the Patch Barracks TLFs were $87.50/day. Guess which one was nicer. Also, currently Little Rock billeting is $39/day for a standard room. BL: It depends.
  14. Try this Sorry, beat me to it.
  15. If this is the same guy (and I think it is), I wonder if he is liked any more now by his squadron as a commander than he was by his squadron mates when he was a C-130 IP.
  16. Didn't have cell phones when I was there so couldn't tell you, but you were able to use the phone at the house that you ended up at on Doolie Day out. Since they are being kept on campus, I can only assume that someone thought through this and figured out that letting them use the phone was a good idea (cell phone or not).
  17. Short answer: Anyone. There are no resident heavies on the peninsula, but there are other jobs there. Not sure about the recent changes allowing accompanied tours.
  18. Nope. Never seen it.
  19. You beat me to it.
  20. What entitlements are associated with a 365 Extended Deployment Household goods move, BAH, Family Sep Allowance, Hardship Duty pay, Imminent Danger pay, member per diem, combat zone tax exclusion, Family per diem, dislocation allowance, OPR/EPR, and short tour credit. Refer to 8106 Message entitled: INDETERMINATE TDY ENTITLEMENTS" ; DTG: 301218Z MAY 06. Questions on JFTR dependent entitlements should be referred to the Base Transportation Management Office (TMO) or base Financial Services Office (FSO). Indeterminate_TDY_Entitlements.pdf
  21. You're kidding, right? Knock yourself out.
  22. Here's to your speedy recovery.
  23. Stupid question, but we're in the middle of a PCS and the home computer is in storage right now. If I get the iPhone 3GS, in order to activate, it appears I have to go through iTunes. If I activate the phone on another computer is that going to create problems down the road when I want to sync it with my home PC that I normally use for iTunes related stuff?
  24. Is anyone out there not going to LSGI for downloads?
  25. I've never seen a show either. Mostly, because I could hear from my tent how shitty they really were. No need to get closer to hear it any louder. But, I'll still bash them. Had to carry them from Jaco-bad to Manas once. The other airplane broke so we crammed all their shit into mine and carried them up there. It was mighty tight in the back (sts).
