Anyone here done re-qual at the Rock within the last year that is willing to answer a few questions? If so, shoot me a PM.

Not sure how many, but yes they have a Nav. A friend of mine is doing that gig right now. Field grader.

FL290 inbound to Incirlik in an E and FL330 in an H across Kuwait headed South.

Nope. I agree with you. Took the -34/-44 path and loved it. I would have to say that many of the -44 folks can't fly an ILS as well as a Tone trained pilot, and don't know the AF regs as well, but from what I saw as an EP, they are overall better instrument pilots and have better airsense during approaches. However, as with all things, I have seen my fair share of abominations from the -44 side as well. And to answer a question further up, I had a co-worker (AD) that was a Tone guy. That has been many years now though. We did have the occasional Tone guy in-process at my last flying squadron.

We could probably talk off-line if you want to figure it out. Probably best not to post it here. Never seen a Yokota badge so I don't know, off-hand. However, since flightline security is an "owner-user" responsibility it would probably be useful for you as a "user" to know what they are. --------------- BTW, cops are normally at the lower end of the bell curve for the ASVAB. What do you really expect?

It's not necessarily about stealing an airplane. I don't have to steal the airplane to make you combat ineffective. There were multiple incidents during the Cold War of protesters trying to/actually getting close enough to B-52s to beat on them and the weapons loaded on them with hammers. Pretty stupid? Yes. Did an ECP stop it? No. And these were only protestors. The ECP is basically for flow control. If I see someone walking towards a jet anywhere besides the ECP, he can be assumed hostile. Makes it easy for relatively low number of people in the area to keep an eye on what they are doing and keep an eye out. Was it personally fun as an SP to put someone on the concrete? No. Too many questions to answer. Do the enlisted cops like to jack up officers? Who knows, but I can tell you that everytiem they do that an officer, usually the Flight CC or the Ops O gets called out and has to respond. I don't think too many of them are real keen on having to drop whatever it is they are doing or getting up in the middle of the night to have to respond. Take a close look at your line badge one day. There is more to it than meets the untrained eye.

A little old...but, the one from AAA is valid for 1 year (or at least used to be). The one bought in Germany is valid for 3 years. As a side note, several people during the World Cup 2 years ago were getting tickets in Austria without an IDP.

I stand corrected. I could have swore that I had a copy of a PFE manual (albeit old) or some other definitive (non-current) pub that had guidance but I can't place my hands on it (sts). Maybe got thrown out after years of being useless extra weight during the moves. I will continue searching. Until then... the creases will continue being placed where they always have been, whether I do it, the laundry does it, or the maid does it... One week reprieve here anyway, so I'll have until the 15th to get it done. And right, the mil crease goes on the front sides as well. Edit: I do remember sending many an Airman (SPs) back to his dorm to iron a shirt that looked like sh!t or had no creases back in the day. I'm fairly certain that there was a reference to the AFR/AFI for the paperwork that usually followed.

Crease in line with aft edge of rank tab. Military crease = those three creases that some Navy guys (and others) wear that run down the back of the shirt from top to bottom on the left and right sides and the center. Always been this way. Some bases have the "winter" (seasonal) uniform gig, meaning they tell you when to wear a short sleeve or long-sleeve shirt due to the prevailing weather. You see it more in the northern tier bases. Normally bases in the South and in CA don't have such policies.

What?? But you have to have someone on the staff to decide which airshows to send the components to.

The obvious question for me is, "Who got run over recently that was not wearing a reflective belt?". If no one then maybe we should stop inventing problems to fix.
-
Had a buddy point me toward that article this morning. All of it sounds pretty reasonable so far. Fly, fight and win...fix current problems...fight the current fight. Obviously details are important, but big picture looks promising.

Touche. As one of the guys that said he'll be different, I stand by to eat my words. However, I still haven't seen anything official about this uniform sh!t. I will confirm that this has been batted around where I work for a while now, so it wouldn't surprise me. Of course, after 6 months passed and no change, I thought it might have died, but apparently it is alive and well at higher levels. Also, we'll have to wait and see what is presented at AFA if that is going to be the "coming out" (sts) of the new message for the USAF. I'm still hoping that he can'x the new Service dress and then starts to fix the things that we all know are broken and being ignored.

As with all things, I'm sure very little thought has been given to how they could change to make things better. Just bust the balls of everyone else to get the end result.

Ditto on ViperStud and stract. I had a friend who did exactly this back in the mid-90's when things were way different than they are today. He wanted to leave flying to go to OSI. It didn't go well for him. FEB, wings taken, and if memory serves me he was shown the door. I may be wrong about the final resolution but the other piece is a certainty. Be careful whatever you do and how you present it. Is there an ALFA tour out there that you would be willing to do or are you hell bent on no ops whatsoever? You say that the environment is not for you. Maybe sit down and talk it out with a trusted friend. Make sure you can trust this person before you lay it out, but try to figure out what the problem is and then see if there is a way to minimize that problem somehow without necessarily saying I don't want to fly, at all, anymore. There are other ways to contribute without giving it up entirely.

Sleep easy. Won't happen. Legislation prevents a retired military officer from holding SECDEF position within 10 years of retirement. The only time Congress has made an exception was for George Marshall. Doc isn't a GEN Marshall.

New Active Duty studs sent to Guard squadrons?
Herk Driver replied to Finals's topic in General Discussion
Neither of those are TFAP slots. There is an active duty associate (reverse associate; whatever the hell they are calling it) unit at both Cheyenne and Pope. You have an active duty CC and fly Guard/ reserve airplanes. If I'm not mistaken, Cheyenne active guys are in a unit that is still under 463d Airlift Group at LR. -
You forgot the cardinal rule: Possession is 9/10 ths of the law.

The Joint ethics reg does forbid riding in 1st class in uniform as it presents the wrong appearance to the taxpayer. IIRC, nothing is said about business class though. You can use airline miles to upgrade, but shouldn't do it while in uniform to avoid the same perception problem. That being said, I'm not going to say anything to the dudes coming back/going to the desert. Pretty stand up guy for someone to give up their business/first class seat to a service member knowing what those seats costs (especially if it is a transatlantic flight).

That's alright. No problem with helping a brother out. I'll be back from CONUS just in time to hit Volksfest. Although that was a little bit of a low-blow. You must have been hanging out with Col Martha McSally. 2. Plus the CoS over there is a war-fighter not a queep producer.

If you are going to AFRICOM, you will work on Kelley, not Patch. I guess there are a few people working at Patch, but probably not you. If you get a non-A, try to stay at the Millennium. Super nice hotel and close to Kelley (less than a 10 min walk). Panzer has no TDY lodging. Ditto on the other info. I'm at EUCOM and multiple things at AFRICOM are changing on a daily/weekly basis. Probably better to get info directly from someone at AFRICOM and there are several on this board.

Enroll.

1 of the things wrong with the USAF today.

Not exactly. I've never done a seminar but it is basically several folks doing correspondence that get together and discuss the material. For lack of a better term, it's like a study group that meets regularly.
