  1. Thanks for the gouge. Tried three times (just today) to speak with my local FSDO, and one across state lines. Nobody is answering. Called a DPE who said my situation should be no problem. In case anybody is curious: 14 CFR 61.1 Pilot time means that time in which a person - (i) Serves as a required pilot flight crewmember; (ii) Receives training from an authorized instructor in an aircraft, full flight simulator, flight training device, or aviation training device; (iii) Gives training as an authorized instructor in an aircraft, full flight simulator, flight training device, or aviation training device; or (iv) Serves as second in command in operations conducted in accordance with § 135.99(c) of this chapter when a second pilot is not required under the type certification of the aircraft or the regulations under which the flight is being conducted, provided the requirements in § 61.159(c) are satisfied. Quite applicable because it’s the basis for 14 CFR 61.73 which governs Mil Comp matters…be them certificates, or ratings.
  2. Happy to hear that shoe clerking isn’t just an AF pastime. /s
  3. Any mil comp experts here…specifically regarding type ratings. If so: is the 10 hr requirement solely PIC, or can it be SIC or even OTH?
  4. That’s not a readiness issue, that’s a political issue…easily conflated.
  5. Is this one of the mishaps you were thinking of? AA587 Crash
  6. I know you like a good bet…over/under on the increase of pre-departure altercations caused by the Branch Covidians trying to deliver street-mask-justice for the non-believers of the recycled Hanes skid mark underwear mask?
  7. Have several friends who have flown 802, Archangel, Thrush, etc. In their words, I t’s not the platform we need for armed overwatch. IMO, AFSOC shot itself in the donger when it passed on the Viking and Scorpion. Everything else is a consolation prize so that the C-130/Pave mafia can get something with a propeller.
  8. I’m already balls deep into my bonus, but some former squadron members reached out to me recently. One in particular is shooting for a mil retirement, but doesn’t want to sign the big bonus in order to preserve the “FU” option. That got me thinking: for those who want a 20 year mil retirement, is it better to sign a 7-9 yr option…or is it better to sign the minimum and hope to pick up a second bonus after contract expiration?
  9. Nearly spat out my beverage in the last 2 seconds. Talk about unexpected!
  10. I think I can help with that:
  11. I know this is a “Beyond the…” thread, but am I the only dude who didn’t realize that Roth TSP has no income limits? Any advantage (or possibility) of to trying to recharacterize my Trad TSP into the Roth?
  12. As a guy who did a manning assist for Vance, I can say they had the most put together program I had seen when compared to CBM and DLF. I spent time at SPS but didn’t fly with them.
  13. Since this thread is on top, I’ll throw my usual plug. We’re under contract on a new home. Using Trident as our lender for the 3rd new home (+ a refi on an investment house) in the last 4 years. Rates can’t be beat, and the people are even better.

Repeat of race 1 with the DRS battle, except the yellow killed the flow. I know its racing…but Checo deserved the W.

I think I’m in the minority here. I love the new cars. Wheels look like steely’s on a winter rally car, and the upgrade in tire size gives them an aggressive profile. The wing is meh. Merc really needs to get their aero/suspension tuned if they want to compete. Drivers are having their brains absolutely rattled with that porpoise.
  17. I didn’t sleep at a Holiday Inn last night, and I’m not a security manager. Quoted from a 2019 article on ClearanceJobs Another question raised is what happens when a worker under CE leaves his or her cleared position? If your clearance is good for five years (for example) and you leave your job with four to go, are you still monitored? If you leave the cleared industry entirely, does Big Brother keep an eye on your Facebook account until your time is up? According to Boyd, if you work for the federal government as a civilian, contractor, or military member eligible for access to classified information, you will remain subject to CE only as long as you maintain a government affiliation. “When government employment or affiliation ends, the individual is unenrolled from Continuous Evaluation and the action is recorded in the appropriate clearance repository.” But what if you decide later to return to the cleared workforce? Do you start from scratch with the old adjudication regime? Nope, says Boyd: “Continuous Evaluation would resume if the individual is deemed eligible for access to classified information after returning to a government affiliated job.”
  18. Not to derail, but didn’t they move to a continuous vetting cycle for security clearances instead of the periodic (re) investigations? I’m not a security dude, so I am not sure if that would affect your disposition after med retirement. I have several friends who have been through the med retirement process (broken back, broken neck, lung issues, etc) but they didn’t provide the level of detail you did above. Sorry I can’t contribute more to the thread. God speed!
  19. That’s a hard sell man. Do you have any bros at a UPT base? They might be able to ask their RA for a sample policy memo, which could then be used as a baseline to combat the POG quartermaster.
  20. Quoted to establish your rumor as gospel.
  21. I think she’s wearing a prop from Pulp Fiction.
  22. I bet if Fauci said it you’d believe it.
  23. Benny is catching a lot of shit right now, and I can understand that. What I can also understand, is the possibility (albeit quite remote) of a fighter pilot coerced into receiving the vaccine to safeguard his income, at great expense to his objecting conscience. If someone was disgruntled enough about receiving the injection, and subsequently had an adverse reaction while flying…I personally don’t see it impossible that he may have uttered words similar to those alleged before the mishap. The simple facts known to us: a DoD F-35 was involved in a mishap on a carrier. Everything beyond is conjecture, and al possibilities CAN exist.
  24. A bit of BO.net lore, but if only we had some “spec ops fighter pilots” around that could fill this niche role. I’ve heard bqzips mom could be cadre.
  25. I think you are onto something. Take notes future wingmen…if a major screw-up is impending, don’t forget to complain about chest pains and yell “fucking vaccine” before doing whatever it is you were about to do.
