  1. Sounds pretty awful.
  2. Ex-Girlfriend Busted For Brutal Scrotum Attack Best part of the story: "The man then called an ambulance, which transported him to Ball Memorial Hospital."
  3. Blame the booze.
  4. Wrong thread?
  5. Understood. All things being equal, I heard from some people that some CFIs will let you solo with fewer hours than others.
  6. You should have used the search function. Toro hates that and might be less willing to help with your incentive ride.
  7. Drive to your closest municipal airport and they will let you dick around in the sky for an hour. It will cost you around $170. If you tell them you are in ROTC, they might shave some money off. Going this route, you actually get to fly the majority of the time and you are not bothering any AD pilots.
  8. My first hour consisted of takeoff and basic attitude flight. Nothing really exciting. In fact, it was not all that exciting the second hour either, but you should be thrilled once you start doing slow flight, stalls, crosswind landings, and steep turns. If you have not learned to love it at that point, it might not be what you want to do for at least ten years. Progression all depends on your CFI and flying is very rewarding once you do the landings without the instructor's help. I am in the same boat as you: testing the waters to see if this is really what I want to do. The only difference is I have a clear passion for it, but you need to find yours.
  9. Supermassive tornado five times the size of Earth. Height ~100,000km. Earth's diameter is ~12,750km. Let us see Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton drive a truck into that.
  10. I am really excited for this debacle. https://www.theonion.com/articles/tim-tebow-absolutely-horrified-after-first-phone-c,27717/
  11. ...but I am a physics/applied mathematics major. We could never get along. I have never run heel-toe and I do stretch before and after. Maybe I should stretch more, but I do not know why it would be more painful after a flatter course than after hills. Yeah, seems a little low but it cites muscles not being stretched out. This could be the root of something if I am not stretching properly for the new terrain. I use these and these. Never had an injury with either (well, with the Nimbus 12, not 13). I used to have to run barefoot for training before lacrosse, but I do not think I could do that over the distances I do now. Especially in and near a large city. I need a little more structure than Vibrams.
  12. For the past three runs I have been getting a very strange feeling in the back of my calf about halfway between my knee and ankle. The sensation is worse when I have to go up stairs. I have not changed my pace, distance, nor shoes but I did change the course I run. The course I used for the last 6 months had a lot of hills so I could do different intervals at different inclines, but my new course is comparatively planate. That seems to be the only thing I can think of that is different. We run on our school's track for PT, so I should be accustomed to the lack of incline, right? Has anyone ever had experience like this? The sensation in my calf does not really hurt, but it does affect how I walk.
  13. Or maybe he will hook up with Ricky Williams, get really high, make a wrong turn on the way to Taco Bell and end up in India.
  14. I forgot all about Denver. My initial thought is that they are too focused on the run, but Eric Decker and Demarius Thomas are promising WRs. And if Eddie Royal stays, he posted 90 receptions the last time he had a solid QB throwing his direction. Denver certainly has the money, but it is also cold and non-dome'y.
  15. Looks like Washington is going to have to return the extra large helmet they bought... https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1096344-peyton-manning-rejects-washington-redskins-where-do-they-go-from-here
  16. https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/blogpost/post/invisible-childrens-stop-kony-campaign/2012/03/07/gIQA7B31wR_blog.html?wprss=blogpost First of all, I am not sure how people think this is a new development. And if they cared so much about this cause, why did they not jump on board 6 years ago when it was really relevant? Secondly, this is the threat? 250 armed gangsters on the run from UN forces? It would do much more good to pressure the UN to just eliminate them rather than raise "awareness."
  17. Good to know. Thanks. In that case, I would pursue Matt Flynn if I were the Dolphins. I do not think Manning would want to get involved in that situation, but Tom Moore is still a paid consultant. The Texans make sense to me, and the Cardinals too. I think Arizona hired his long time QB coach and they have some weapons for him. Let the free agency circus begin! Archie went to Minnesota in the twilight of his career. Human pinata.
  18. I do not know about that. Does anyone know how his injuries and surgeries will impact his play? He could be just as much of a gamble as Luck is.
  19. The Dolphins should acquire Manning, but Jeff Ireland would probably fuck it up. Joe Philbin said he is not 100% committed to the West Coast Offense, so structuring their playbook around Manning would be accommodating for Peyton.
  20. I wondered about this for a little while and even asked a few long-time serving people here about it. It sucks a bag of dick that someone has to progress through their career questioning whether they are deserving of their position, but I guess at that point you can be a good enough character judge to either be truly proud of yourself or be ashamed that people feel the need to protect themselves and the institution from something that should not matter. My experience goes as far as ROTC, but I have only ever had someone say one thing about a minority. I think it was meant as a joke, but got taken out of context. I hear far more crap from outside the detachment. People can hold whatever personal prejudices they want, but they will still not stop someone from achieving their goals. As far as university admissions go, you do not want to open that can of worms. Well, may you do, but...
  21. What glass ceiling? The military is the most level playing field for women and minorities. It might even be considered too favorable for both. That said, being a woman and/or a minority is not going to bar you from being promoted or achieving personal goals. You know what else could be detrimental to progress? The White Knight Syndrome. Maybe she is joking or maybe she is not. It is hilarious either way. If she made this as a joke, then she knows how to make fun of herself and stereotypes. She is also smart enough to know there will be backlash and likely does not care. Exposing prejudice is not going to get rid of it. It needs to be ignored.
  22. For the nth time. They will keep asking for things and breaking agreements. Is that cynical? Maybe, but it works time and time again for them. When the North Koreans say they are going left, look right.
  23. "Midget revenge is the only form of revenge that works these days."
