  1. It still looks like a tubby ugly version of an A-7.
  2. Yes. The previously required items for promotion (from several former board members I personally know): For a P: “definitely promote”, or even better “if I had one more DP” or the like; “ready for Sq/CC now” or very similar; HAF or higher staff; and SDE all in the push. A strat added to the push is also good. See Skitzo’s post for a good example. Anything that deviates is negative. For a DP: according to the CSAF/SECAF, only the SR’s choice of DP should matter; however, I know two people who were passed over with a DP because board members felt their record didn’t warrant a DP and the SR was trying to get someone promoted.
  3. Best part? The jackass was enlisted...and got an annual stipend to pay for ABUs and other uniform items. He was a real special flight engineer who thought everything should be issued.
  4. Until you wind up at a base that some jackass tells the Wg/CC that he doesn’t own any ABUs (fill in the uniform) because he wasn’t paid to get them. Then everyone on base gets to show up for an ABU inspection. Fun times.
  5. Been there done that. Skitzo will probably get promoted and Recut won’t. Unless the boards have changed that drastically in 3-4 years. A weak push is the kiss of death.
  6. This has already been done. Any T-3 item in a reg is the Sq/CC if the Wg/CC delegates the authority (used to be Gp/CC).
  7. What is old is new again. It has been done before.
  8. Contractors get 20% off at Lowe’s. And some (definitely not all) of their stuff is better.
  9. QFT. I had a ton of O-6s dumbfounded why my record wasn’t promotable to O-5. But there is something to be said about not giving a flying about what my OPR says these days as a 2x passed over dude. The funny thing about the whole deal? I’ve impacted more pilots than pretty much most O-5 Sq/CCs and O-6 OG/CCs or Wg/CCs...and I’ll still wind up flying for some airline just like they will.
  10. Per CSAF, the ABU is replaced by the OCP. But to get it squadron t-shirts are gone.
  11. Ditto. Not going to take the shitty 27.5 to 22 YAS they offered either. them.
  12. What part of “include short tours and rotational deployments” is not clear?
  13. I’ve read the official policy. I sent it to JQP before it was even widely known. I’ve also talked to the people who do the sourcing so I trust what I know. A 45 day deployment does not trump a STRD all other things equal.
  14. Per AFPC (MAF Assignments Facebook) # of ST is still king followed by recent deployments If no one has an ST then the list is only people without >45 in the last 5. If everyone has >45 in the last 5 then all are even. The HAF intent is to deploy the slugs who have never deployed. If someone has a ST they are at the bottom bottom unless everyone has same # of ST and deployed >45 in 5.
  15. But what about the role that they play?
  16. Buddy of mine went through a few months back. He just got hired by Southwest. Everyone I know who has gone through it says it is a good program.
  17. Nah this runway is larger than the min LxW. Probably doesn’t have the WBC though.
  18. Sarcasm detector inop.
  19. Nobody expects the Pap smear.
  20. If you took it after a certain date it was supposed to be prorated to your retirement date (20 years).
  21. I had a cop no-show for a speeding ticket. He was fired for falsifying speeding tickets. But I had no coke in the car.
  22. Certificates expire after a certain number of years. You should always have the most recent certificate store. MilitaryCAC keeps the updated InstallRoot files on their site.
  23. Sucks to hear that Trogdor. At least on my little corner of the AF boondoggle we are actively working to reduce regulatory guidance smartly to let more people “do that pilot shit.” We will either be kings or crucified. Only time will tell.
  24. Yes. If you read the LeaveWeb manual you will find out that enlisted leave approvals and officer leave approvals are programmed differently even though both groups are treated the same in AFI 36-3003. We used to find the lowest ranking officer (usually a 1Lt but sometimes we could find a casual 2Lt) and have them approve the old crusty Lt Cox’s leave for shits and giggles. We were a hoot let me tell you!
