FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
ThreeHoler replied to AOF_ATC's topic in General Discussion
During the 06/07 VSP, a pilot's package (sts) was delayed intentionally by the base leadership. The pilot missed the cutoff and was denied VSP as a result. Said pilot went to the IG and the iG found in favor of the pilot...VSP approved. -

Investment showdown -- beyond the Roth, SDP, & TSP
ThreeHoler replied to Swizzle's topic in Squadron Bar
You can only put $17.5K into the Roth TSP. Anything above ($51K max) must be Traditional. You are limited by your total pay (Base, Fly, BAH, BAS, etc) minus requirements (SS, Medicare, etc) per month for contribution to TSP (Base pay election cannot exceed 92%). You cannot lump sum deposit (i.e. write a check like the SDP).- 1,190 replies

Wow. I flew with Schmidt in the T-1 when he was the Wg/CC at CBM. It was a good out and back...although, the RAPCON/tower guys were a little flustered when Blaze 01 showed up VFR back at the field. He was down to earth and pretty humble back then in my limited experience. I wonder what changed?

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
ThreeHoler replied to Toro's topic in General Discussion
It is listed under "Rated Info" on your ADP career brief and your AMS expanded SURF ("Rated Information"). See attached. -
As a common courtesy, just wanted to let you know that you come off as massively lacking credibility when you post in any thread.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
ThreeHoler replied to Toro's topic in General Discussion
Incorrect. There is a block that lists whether you took the ACP or not. I think you can see it if you go in to the vMPF or ADP versions of your SURF. -
Hey, what about that set of missions flown to FHAW by all those -135s to move all the POTUS stuff for the Mandela funeral. Oh, those were all -10s with nary a -135 in sight? Interesting.
-
That must be the answer why -135 guys do tons of coronets...because the -10 was totally not designed to be the Advanced Tanker/Cargo Aircraft and it did not have a design requirement to carry people and 50K of shit from point A to b while refueling 6 fighters across the ocean. Man, that -135 is one hell of a long range refueler.

The VA Funding Fee is considered the same as PMI when calculation your itemized deductions, if you paid it. If someone else pays it you do not get to deduct it.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)

I took it last year, but I would have stayed even without it. Most everyone I know who took it was in the same boat. The people who didn't take it wanted to stay in but flexibility to say I to an assignment. Cynic moment: I am curious as to what effect, if any, taking the bonus or not will have come RRF time. -

Your speculation is a steaming pile of shit. AFI 11-412 Table 6.2. -
No, but it won't cost you 1/2 million dollars.

The sad thing is that Tricare for Life is only a recent addition to military retirement benefits.

And both paying for a house/apartment and the associated bills.

Those rules were clearly articulated in the reg before you declined selective continuation, unlike the situation where the AF changed the selective continuation criteria with little to no warning.

That is a great way to owe the government money at best and earn yourself a criminal record at worst.

Because the TSP doesn't have matching contributions for military, however, they are authorized if the Services wish to enact them.- 1,190 replies

FG, the CZTE is determined by Presidential Executive Order, and not by OSD or the Services. CZTE and IDP have never been linked. The only exception is in the Kosovo region where a Public Law (Congressional action) has authorized CZTE for it being a qualified hazardous duty area. https://www.irs.gov/uac/Combat-Zones So, barring any new PEOs, the "Arabian Peninsula Areas, beginning Jan. 17, 1991 -- the Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Gulf of Oman, the part of the Arabian Sea north of 10° North latitude and west of 68° East longitude, the Gulf of Aden, and the countries of Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates" will continue to provide CZTE status.

So, last I heard, USAFA didn't count for retirement calculation. That part of the GO article is wrong. However to the fuzzy math question(s): The GO base pay is limited to somewhere around $11K/mo however the pay tables go up to somewhere around $20K/mo near the 40 years of service range. In the past, GO retirement pay was limited to a max of 75% * base pay when retiring at 30 years to 40 years, but the law passed in 2007 changed it to allow the full 2.5%/yr, meaning at 30 years it is 75% base pay and at 40 years it is 100% base pay.
