  1. I was surprised to find in some AFSOC squadron's many if not most of the fellas wear ABUs when not flying...in my experience it was the example set by squadron leadership and above. Although, it is mostly to show solidarity with the folks AFSOC supports than with other AF specialties not requiring bags.
  2. Reference posts 1812 and 1815. Good luck to all! Edited because I can't figure out how to quote posts...
  3. Techsan, what is your source?
  4. This thread answers the questions: why to choose Air Force and also answers why you shouldn't; if you don't get both answers then move along...or keep entertaining everyone viewing this thread

    Cannon AFB

North and east of the 14th and Prince St intersection, many would say north of 21st...there are a couple of new neighborhoods off of Humphries too which is on the far east edge of town north of Hwy 60/84 (Mabry). Mesa and Zia Elementaries are north of 21st on Norris. Some folks live down in Portales.
  6. ...also, it was briefed at Cannon that about 90% attend SOS in-res, thus the BAC+/SOS in-correspondence discriminators to indentify the bottom 10%.
  7. You're not losing your mind but the reality of today's environment can make you feel like you're losing it. It was briefed a week or two ago at Cannon that at least BAC+ (the deeper the better, sts) and SOS in correspondence must be complete before officers can attend SOS in-residence. No SOS attendance and AAD incompletion were the top reasons 27SOW folks were passed over on the last Major board. AFSOC,apparently, struggled at the last Major promotion board. Currently, Cannon's Ops Group eligibles for Major are behind (AAD incomplete, SOS in-res not complete or both) while the Wing's other three Group's eligibles are all AAD and SOS complete. This isn't from the MAJCOM it was/is the criteria the Air Force is using to promote folks. So if Skippy wants to do something with his down time and cares about playing the promotion games down the road, as much as I regret advising and typing this, he should get as far ahead as he can while he ain't distracted by anything else. Maybe General Welsh will guide us down a different path, here's to hoping at least.
  8. No Krasni Flag: Russia won't be participating in an Air Force Red Flag exercise this year, according to an exercise spokesman at Eielson AFB, Alaska. What? Russia at Red Flag? Several media outlets—including the Voice of Russia radio network's English-language website—ran stories last week suggesting Russia would indeed be sending fighters to a Red Flag exercise in October, either at Nellis AFB, Nev., or in Alaska. This would be an extraordinary first if true, and a watershed development in US-Russian relations. But, alas, no red-starred Flankers and Fulcrums will be populating the ramps at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Eielson, or anywhere else. Air Force officials told the Daily Report on July 6 that Russia had requested sending observers—not aircraft—to a Red Flag exercise this fall, but it won't be happening. While it would have been interesting to see those Sukhoi and MiG fighters at Red Flag—playing Red Air, perhaps?—modern Russian-designed fighters have already played in a Red Flag. In 2008, India brought its Su-30s MKI fighters to Nellis. —John A. Tirpak https://www.airforce-...s/HomePage.aspx
  9. Thanks for the , hate when I do that...SIB/AIB/CDI were not complete.
  10. Firing generated the referral...the final incidents that drove the two firings that have knowledge of were not resolved before the firings (i.e., investigations were not complete).
  11. Referral OPR Edit: ...happened to the CCs I know...
  12. I don't think you were being sarcastic...the U-28 squadron that lost 4 bros in Djibouti (RIP) has their 5th CC since 2006...the NSAv Light squadron at Cannon has their 4th CC since 2010...many of us thought AFSOC was different (no sarcasm) but apparently it is leading the way.
  13. Agreed but this discussion is about the present, right?
