Thank you! I'll definitely give him a call.

Gents, are you still hiring? U-2's been at the top of my aviation pipe dream list since way before I joined the AF, and I think I'm finally at a point in my career that I should give it a shot (C-130J IP, 1.5 years into my second assignment). I've talked to my Sq/CC about it and he told me that he'd support me applying but the last he heard there was some kind of long backup so my timing is not good... I'm deployed right now but if there's any chance then I'd like to go for it when I get back this summer!

Dang, hope everyone is okay. I've flown through there a few times in a Herk and it's super cool. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

My green boots are shot and I don't want to start breaking in new ones, so I've been rocking brown boots since last fall; only like two people even noticed! On the other hand I have seen one guy with the leather jacket and OCP's and he looked retarded. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

I noticed that too, I have been wearing brown boots with my flight suit for the last month just waiting for someone to say something so I could slap them in the face with the AFI. I was bummed when I realized they took that part out. Still wearing brown boots though. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

I got a suit made in Kabul out of a similar looking fabric and I think it looks cool, so I approve Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

Well it was nice while it lasted; OCP baseball hats are already banned at my base... I guess we didn't look quite Army enough. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

I've been wearing coyote boots with a green flight suit recently just because my brown boots are comfy and my green boots are shot. No one has said shit to me so far so I'm going to keep doing it. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

Yeah looks pretty retarded Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

Oh yeah that would work too, I'm not a DTS expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express for the last 69 nights and collected a bunch of Amex points while I was at it Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

Fair enough. I've yet to encounter finance sharp enough to catch that. I actually figured this out by accident, on a long TDY my partial payments got screwed up and I quickly maxed out my GTC on my hotel, so I had to start using my own card with a good excuse as far as I cared. Later I realized DTS wouldn't let me direct lodging $ anywhere but my GTC, so by the time I got paid I had like negative $6000 on my GTC. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

If you really want your rewards points and are worried about getting screamed at for not using your GTC, and you can afford to wait a little longer to get you money, just do this. Use your own card for everything, but have DTS pay all your expenses to your GTC. When your voucher gets paid, log onto your Citibank account and your card will have a negative balance; just click on request a refund and a couple days later the same amount of money will get deposited in your bank account. If finance is looking beyond your voucher at your actual Citibank card activity then maybe you're out of luck! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

Does that mean we can wear brown boots with green flight suits?!

Cheap doesn't necessarily mean not good! Just ask BQzip's mom!

I'm currently TDY for something like 55 days and I'm staying at a motel that costs $93 a night... I just got the AmEx platinum card that gives you $600 in free points if you put $5k on it in the first 3 months. 55 x $93 = $5115; perfect!!!!! Who needs a GTC!

No. The Navy wears brown boots with green bags and it looks fine. Green boots are the worst!

Two years ago downrange the solution was to just wear a tan flightsuit nametag on the top part of your left shoulder (opposite of where the flag goes on your right shoulder). This year they say no more aircrew style nametags, so everyone got little velcro patches of just wings only to velcro on the left side of your chest above the US Air Force tape (same place wings go on ABU's). I don't think the wings patches are being mass produced/sold yet, so everyone has just been getting them custom made from the nearest embroidery shop.

I'm jealous of you guys with your completed projects!!! I've been building a Waiex-B for the last year and a half (really more like 8 or 9 months of actual work between deployments and TDY's...), and I think I'm about halfway done. It's like a somewhat cheaper/smaller RV-6/7. So far I've spent about $20k on the complete airframe kit, but I haven't bought an engine yet. I expect my total cost in the end will be $35-40k. I'm deployed now and can't wait to get back to work on it! This is my first build so I have spent plenty of time scratching my head, but overall it has gone together fairly easily so far. I'm hoping I can at least have the airframe pretty much together before I PCS, otherwise it's going to be a huge pain to move it. We'll see. Pics attached. The aft fuselage is pretty much done, I just can't attach the tail or rivet the top half yet or it won't fit out my basement door. The forward fuselage is where I left off when I deployed. The wings are 99% done and in the garage for storage! Kit info here: https://www.sonexaircraft.com/waiex/

Definitely a useful technique for getting into Kabul!
