  1. Ah good at least he had that going for him. I didn't see it mentioned in the article whether he won or not. Seems like that would be important. He does look like a winner:
  2. Well did he win?!?!
  3. Dude if you want to be a pilot then join the ANG and go to college. And do something at least aviation related, not security forces! Your recruiter wants you to go "SF" because no one else wants to do it most likely. If you search you will find many threads that will help you. And go to www.airforceots.com Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  4. From what I've seen on TV, Canadian prison is actually pretty cool!
  5. I think this was posted somewhere already... I remember watching it on my phone and my wife was like "WTF are you watching?!" Anyway my bet is it's real... It's almost too ridiculous to be made up. It did kind of remind me of Between Two Ferns though.
  6. Haha no, it wasn't really a crowd that I hung out with... I just knew it was going on in our town. I'm sure they're all doing great things now
  7. I knew some dudes in high school who would do the enema thing with box wine! They called it "Space Bagging." Seemed pretty extremely unhealthy to me... At least "Space Bagging" sounds a lot less gay than "Butt-Chugging"
  8. It's like a little kamikaze! Cool idea! I can't get it to embed either.
  9. Cool video!
  10. Another pretty cool one you guys might like is V-Four Victory. It's a short (~45) minute documentary about IOM in the late 70's when Honda started racing with V-4 engines. The documentary part isn't all that awesome, but pretty much the whole second half is a full lap of Joey Dunlop riding with a huge camera strapped to the tank! It is extremely badass!!! I can't really find anything about it now, but I got the DVD from Netflix a few years ago.
  11. Holy shit nostalgia reference of the day winner
  12. Well he did both procedures so I don't think that was a factor. For the record my refractive error was something like -4.50 so I was pretty nearsighted. The doc said that for "less nearsighted" people he usually recommended PRK, and that -4.00 was pretty much the middle ground where you could go either way. I'm pretty sure you can have good results either way though. In my case I'm glad I got LASIK because the recovery was very easy and the results were perfect!
  13. Wow that is very cool (hardy har har). I'll have to look these guys up when I'm not at work. I'm a heat transfer engineer so this is sorta interesting to me. For reference, 400 megawatts of heat transfer is quite a bit! One of my recent projects was a radiator for a 600hp fire truck, and this is about 1500 times more heat than that radiator dissipated.
  14. That's weird; the doctor who did my LASIK surgery told me the exact opposite. This. Age doesn't matter but make sure your eyes are stable and done getting worse. If you get LASIK now and your eyes are still changing you are wasting your money because you'll just need glasses/contacts again in a couple years, as it won't suddenly make your eyes stop changing. Also, if you already need LASIK to pass a flight physical, the AF is not going to hire you for OTS and then give you free LASIK. You have to qualify for your FC1/1A/whatever before they send you anywhere. If you can squeak by now without it, you might be able to finagle LASIK out of them in the future, but it would be much later like after UPT at least. I'm not 100% sure on that part though.
  15. Check this out. Ex Columbian AF helicopter pilot gets shot and paralyzed, then makes a living inventing ways to make coffee out of random junk and parts. https://jalopnik.com/...out-of-old-junk Also, LOL this is maybe the most pathetic thing ever. If they really are worried about troubles with lethal injection, this should still work at least:
  16. Pretty sure that chin belongs to a man
  17. Holy crap! I guess I never really thought of tumbleweeds as a threat either, but I've never seen one that big. Obviously we don't have tumbleweeds in Wisconsin... just suicidal deer.
  18. What I want to know is why do these little kids have video cameras in class?!
  19. To be fair I was in the reserves and spent most of my time at Fot McCoy and Camp Bullis, which are both pretty "rural". I guess at the larger AD bases it would probably be worse.
  20. True. In 8 years in the Army I only heard it called a PT Belt. I don't think I even heard the term "Reflective Belt" until I started hanging around AF forums. Not that that matters at all. What does matter a tiny bit was in the Army at least in my experience, the only time I ever saw PT belts was during PT on the road. Not in the gym, not in the PX, not in the chow hall, definitely not while wearing ACU's!
  21. I remember that -- my younger brother had one of the $100,000,000,000 bills they were cranking out. I think he got it online for like 5 USD and hung it up in his house just because it was so ridiculous.
  22. Oh wow. I am driving to the nearest titty bar now to try and make up for that.
  23. It is a slow day at work and you got me on a mind-boggling wikipedia tangent with that one. Well done sir!
