  1. +1 What a downer. What do I have to look forward to now? This sucks. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  2. No doubt they can do some really cool stuff with CGI, but IMO they can never really replicate the feel you get knowing that everything you're seeing on the screen is actually real! Racing movies are also a perfect example of this now that I'm thinking about it. Check out Grand Prix or Le Mans if you haven't seen them; they are both insanely badass. They put cameras on legit race cars and ran them in actual races to get the racing footage! They took the story they wanted to have as the plot and just stuck it into the middle of a real race -- nothing was made on a closed set with special effects (excpet maybe some of the crashes I guess). Also many of the actors did a lot of their own driving (i.e. Steve McQueen in Le Mans and James Garner in Grand Prix), which adds another layer of realness knowing you're not looking at a bunch of stunt doubles during the action scenes. I don't think they can even make movies like these any more due to safety reasons! Except in the case of documentaries I guess, like Dust to Glory... which is also really cool. I just don't see actors putting themselves in real life-threatening danger for the sake of authenticity anymore. Even martial arts movies have gotten totally fake! Where are the Bruce Lees and Steve McQueens of old I say?! Okay rant off, back to cheesy flying movies
  3. Yikes. This looks pretty much totally CGI. Boring! A better (I'm guessing since I have not seen R2B) Top Gun clone is probably Sky Fighters. I found it on Netflix, and it was actually not too bad. The plot is stupid but it has a lot of pretty cool footage of actual airplanes flying. It's a shame that action movies now are so often just completely CGI. Where is the danger in that?!
  4. Probably about as good as "I just fell dick first onto your naked daughter, I don't know what happened!"
  5. Oh shit yeah that's right, I forgot
  6. This is getting ridiculous! https://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/08/24/shooting-reported-outside-empire-state-building/ Plus, I thought NYC was a gun free zone so how could this happen?!
  7. Bad ass!!!
  8. Probably for the best. George Lucas already ruined one half of my childhood; I don't really need to have Top Gun ruined as well.
  9. So she's suing the Cowboys, but in the suit they explicitly blame nature for what happened. Hmmmm
  10. Pretty sure you're just quoting Catch-22 right now...

    Gun Talk

I think if I remember right my main gripe with that thing was the trigger just bugged me in some way. But $200 is cheap! I thought they were more in the $300-350 range. Yeah for $200, why the heck not?!

I've shot one a few times. They're kinda cheap-feeling, but they are pretty cheap at least. A way better version of that is the Model 87 Target, although it's gonna cost more. I have one for target shooting and I love it! Another good one for plinking is the Ruger SR22. It's more in line with the Neos price as well. We picked one up for my wife this summer and it's pretty fun.
  13. This thread somehow led me to the old thread where rotorhead was assembling pictures (yes I'm very bored at work), and in there I found a link to the file hosted on baseops. Here you go! https://www.baseops.n...ricanAnthem.pps
  14. More details coming out: https://www.jsonline.com/news/crime/fbi-temple-gunman-shot-himself-in-head-after-being-shot-by-officer-ve6dtj5-165429606.html Now the FBI says the shooter killed himself after being hit in the stomach by a rifle shot from one of the cops. Also of note, Lt. Brian Murphy, the cop who was shot eight times, is recovering well in the hospital. One of my Army buddies who is a Milwaukee cop knows him from some firearms training they did together, and he told me "Dude is one tough fiery son of a bitch!"
  15. That article was actually pretty interesting. Seems like he has a pretty good attitude about almost everything.
  16. Kind of like the drowning man that would drag you under with him?
  17. Seems like some of the most anti-Muslim people I've encountered have never even been in the military
  18. Also: https://www.jsonline....-165115836.html --------------------- On that note: https://www.jsonline....-165122006.html Still not clear though if the shooter actually thought this way. Given that he was Army psy-ops you'd think he would know the difference, but who knows.
  19. And on top of all that, this really ######s up my commute Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 Edited to add: https://www.jsonline.com/news/crime/reports-of-people-shot-at-sikh-temple-in-oak-creek-qc6cgc0-165059506.html Says here the shooter was a 40-something year old Army vet. I also saw in a different article one of his neighboors described him as some kind of skinhead/white supremacist.
  20. Holy crap. That place is a few miles from my house! Edit - yup that is the place I was thinking of. I drive by there on my way to work every day. 6 miles from my house. Yikes! Why would anyone have a problem with Sikhs?!
  21. Orifice Injuries!!! Ow! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_watercraft#Hazards I like the typical German response though. "This ride injured me!" "Fine, don't use it." In the US it would be more like: "This ride injured me!" "Fine, here's $1,000,000 and we will tear the ride down."
  22. Just come to MKE! I live a mile away and can direct you to any of the 69,000 bars in Milwaukee. For starters there's a strip club across the street from the terminal.
  23. I read that wikipedia article, and then that lead me to the article on Cloud Seeding, where I found this picture. Do they really use A-10's for stuff like this?
  24. Pretty cool GoPro footage from various parts of the airshow yesterday: https://www.eaavideo....v=1756452387001
