  1. On the plus side, we've actually found something good about being stuck in RPAs: at least you won't get sent to AFPAK Hands.
  2. I'll be emailing that hamster gif to all my friends just in case their morning hadn't been ruined.
  3. I'd tank the language training on purpose rather than eat that shit sandwich.
  4. Invalid at release. The only thing any guard or reserve unit is getting converted to these days is MQ-9s.
  5. Sounds like the charged officer made the safe call. As an O, they can hit you less hard in an Article 15 than they can hit an E. A Court Martial can leave you with a criminal record, an Article 15 "just" ruins any chance for further promotion. Worst case they hit you with a fine equal to one months base pay.
  6. According to AFPC we are at 169% manning for White Knights, however the opportunity to crosstrain into the Social Justice Warrior AFSC remains.
  7. The sabbatical program is old news. I know one guy who got it, he's about to head out the door for his 3 year break. Presumably, he'll requal and his year group will shift three to the right When he returns. These are people who the USAF would otherwise lose completely. I'm pleasantly surprised that Big Blue actually got something right.
  8. We had excellent video of bad guys getting turned into meat, so I don't think it was confirmability. Neutralized, Hellfire Strike and such were all okay. I try to give leadership the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they're trying to reduce the number of acronyms on OPRs in order to help dudes out on their PRFs. 69% of the USAF probably thinks EKIA is a reasonably priced Korean car.
  9. 2. My previous base wouldn't let us put EKIA in OPR/EPRs.
  10. Point of order? Do puke stories have to be flight related, or is epic 0 AGL buffoonery permissable in this thread?
  11. If you hate everything and everybody and everything about everybody and aren't shy about letting them know in the foulest possible verbiage... you will fit right in.
  12. So much this. I want to stab somebody everytime i hear a Lt Col say "Well, you'll have to convince the Chief ...".
  13. StealthDriver, I get where you're coming from. But each pilot's decision is his own. As far as the millionaire thing, I think i can make it. My situation is far from ideal: i'm in debt right now due to a recent divorce and i expect to get passed over for major this year. If i take the devils money, i need to bank the signing bonus and an additional 50k per year and get about a 7% return on my money per year to hit 7 figures. Certainly doable. I've got no kids and i don't plan on having any, so that helps. I don't like my job (mq-9s) but i will like being retired in my mid 40s, sitting on a beach in Thailand with a drink in my hand enjoying $75k+ in retirement income (pension + investments) and never working another day in my life. Technique only.
  14. When I went thru Altus, I recall the 135 sims ran from about 0600 until well into the evening.
  15. Is there any evidence that shit like this works? If there is, i'll gladly buy some size 13 heels and prance about until the raping stops. If there isn't any such evidence, maybe we could take some of the time and money we are currently devoting to awareness building and spend it on shit that would help. I'll offer providing mental health services for victims and testing this nation's massive backlog of rape kits as areas where our efforts would be better spent.
  16. Not sure what the point of the interview was. Maybe we're looking for some good press before the derpfest commences when Good Kill hits the theaters later this year.
  17. Obviously, what's needed in these situations are chaperones. Because I am a gentlemen, scholar, and patriot, I volunteer to keep an eye on all these lesbians kissing and making sexual advances on each other.
  18. I think what you're missing is that there isn't an empty A-10 factory just sitting idle, waiting for someone to turn the lights back on. The real solution is to build a new and improved attack aircraft, without an asinine vtol requirement ruining everything.
  19. When I got this training, the "bitch" discussion was also the point where the instructor lost the room. Aircrew gonna aircrew. Our culture has a cruel and nasty side for good reason. We'd lose some of our edge if we gave it up in order to accomodate people who are soft mentally. I think that would be a bad trade.
  20. I don't think I know anyone who feels bad for the Air Force regarding manning woes. I feel plenty for the airmen who suffer the consequences of moronic decisions made by the Air Force.
  21. Is "Rape Me" by Nirvana on the playlist?
  22. I concur that it wasn't enough flights. Most of the folks in my class hooked a ride or two, mostly for landings. I blame the syllabus and scheduling. I averaged 9 days between flights and sucked at landings. I got to fly thrice in a week and that problem went away. We also spent a lot of our pattern time on "tactical" approaches that I literally never flew again. For every tactical we flew, we could have pulled closed 3-4 times. You could double the number of landings students get prior to their checkride if we dropped the tactical approaches from the syllabus. This was several years ago, maybe things have changed.
  23. KC-135s had 3 and a check when I went through (and a multitude of sims of course). Does side by side matter? I'd argue that it does. You can't see shit out the other side of a 135. I thought the T-1 was excellent in preparing me for the 135. I can't speak for other airframes. The bigger issue is probably cultural. The last thing any squadron needs is someone who is butthurt about being there. I'm stuck in MQ-9s, so I know of what I speak. T-1s gets you excited about flying heavies, if you weren't already. My T-1 class started with several who didn't want to be there and finished with all but 1 person happy on assignment night. That's not atypical and it certainly isn't nothing. TL;DR: Bubble Canopy mentality gets you beat in heavies, everyone hates RPAs, T-1s go.
  24. You're right, but I'm convinced it would be cheaper to stay with the split tracks. As a taxpayer, I'd rather pay for dudes to fly ILS's in T1s instead of C17s. I think the relevant question isn't which is better training, but which training is the better buy.
