  1. Nobody is pissing on the new guy. It's raining, we promise.
  2. Or have a certain percentage of the promotion billets reserved for certain AFSCs and the remainder left for an "at large" category. That way the Air Force can address manning deficiencies in certain AFSCs while still leaving room to promote top performers.
  3. "Leadership is solving problems. The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help or concluded you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership." - Colin Powell
  4. Here's a crazy idea: If a base is on your ADP, then your orders get cut for 4 years if the base isn't then it's a 3 year tour. 4 years tours are awesome at Hickam or Charleston, not as awesome at Altus or Vance.
  5. In bold is District Attorney standard. Over 90% of trials end in a plea bargain for a reason.
  6. I don't think the idea is stopping entry into America, but stopping exit from the affected countries. Quarantines have only worked for thousands of years, I see no reason to abandon them now.
  7. It sounds right because it is. I've never met the CSAF, but he seems like a solid bro who's trying to get shit done. I have met and worked with a couple hundred CGOs, NCOs, and Airmen. For the most part they're good people doing amazing stuff. So if the problem isn't the top or bottom, then it must be somewhere in between.
  8. This happened about two weeks ago.
  9. So I took this thread a little off topic, let me rerail. I know a student pilot ejected at Vance back in 2010, do we know if he graduated?
  10. Oh I know; it's just that there was absolutely a vibe of them taking his mistakes personally. Which is somewhat wierd because most of the cadre there when I went through were probably in elementary school at the time O'Grady was shot down.
  11. They hate that guy there.
  12. You want to deploy, and so do all the other Lt's. The shift work grind sucks, and dudes are looking for a way out. We just had a dude volunteer for a 179 doing TCN guard duty. My squadron has an unofficial policy of "everyone gets firsts before anyone gets seconds". I can't speak for other squadrons. Additionally, I've met exactly two pilots with two or more LRE deployments. As always: timing is everything and your mileage may vary. As far as "switching back to regular civilian life", I wouldn't worry about it ... you won't have time. Expect to work 50-70 hours a week. You'll have time to go to work, maybe hit the gym then get some sleep. Rinse and repeat.
  13. That's terrible, but hopefully it went something like ...
  14. Twenty years ago this story would be about a cop bravely defending himself society by killing some guy who lunged at his weapon. Thank God for dashboard cams, now let's get body-worn cameras on the police at all times.
  15. I've always preferred my women petite, I blame Betsy Lynn George.
  16. Works for her:
  17. Here's the breakdown: SSgt has failed two PT tests and is coming up on his last chance. His life sucks due to long hours and "squadron politics". Also, he has a bad back. Says to a couple of SrA's that he's going to fail his PT test on purpose so he can get out. He's expecting to be busted down to SrA, then forced out via HYT. He fails the PT test, followed by the SrA's reporting what they heard him say. Court Martial follows, SSgt is acquitted. Moral of the story: If this is your plan, keep your fucking mouth shut.
  18. Worked for this guy ...
  19. My understanding is you can do this, but you are then ineligible for involuntary separation pay if/when you get cut.
  20. I know some of our new Lt's (from all commissioning sources) chose this because the ADSC is 6 years and not 10. The jury is out on the 18X experiment until the first batch hits the end of their ADSCs.
  21. I couldn't resist:
  22. I'm glad they're resolving this peacably, which isn't the norm for this sort of thing. Here's some negatives.
