  1. Mess dress purchase was mandatory at OTS. IIRC, you had to buy it the first week, presumably so AAFES could capture $400 from the 10% who quit before they threw in the towel.
  2. You're assuming the only option was to go in the way we did, with 100,000 troops. We should have left Big Army at home, and let the bearded commandos and air strikes do their thing. Afghanistan would be the same festering shithole it is today, we'd still have killed plenty of terrorists, 2000+ servicemembers would still be alive, and we'd have an extra half-trillion dollars lying around.
  3. A first PFT failure should only cause a referral report if the report closes out before it is corrected. Somewhere is actually closing out reports early because of a single PFT failure? If that's true, we're so far past full retard that I don't know what to say.
  4. The other thing to factor in to junior enlisted pay is the GI Bill, amortized over the first enlistment. Let's say a guy is an E-2, making $1717 a month. That's not much, but now add in free college and it's the best deal you're gonna see with nothing but a high school diploma unless your name is Lebron James.
  5. As an added bonus, no more combat pay at the Deid after June!
  6. Lakers cheerleader with STDs? Leave Paula Abdul out of this.
  7. The proper verbiage is "emphallusing", which is like emphasizing only with more cock and balls.
  8. We had some at OTS too.
  9. That would be interesting. I'm stuck in RPAs and leaning very strongly toward getting out. Not sure how much it would take to change my mind.
  10. Not really, prisoner swaps are about as old as war itself. Presumably we've gotten all the intel we're going to get out of the 5 we released, so getting Bergdahl back is playing our cards well. Hopefully this is a leading indicator that the Obama administration is serious about getting us the fuck out of Afghanistan.
  11. Every RPA dude recommends the above quote.
  12. I couldn't finish that shit. I know some bases assign people to write commentaries for the base paper. Not everyone has something valid to write or the skills to write it in an effective manner. This looks like a Lt assigned a task above their skill level and resulting in a swing and a miss, no surprise there.
  13. Trick question, they're all blue, just like the Kool-Aid.
  14. Class video dude is whoever finishes first.
  15. The scenario I was imagining was somebody getting a nasty surprise while executing the "what goes TDY stays TDY" technique and addressing it off-base before their spouse found out. But what matters sometimes isn't the facts (it is highly unlikely the MDG will inform your CC you got the clap); it's the bad gouge that is being believed and guys making bad decisions based off that. I appreciate deaddebate sharing the correct answer.
  16. Concur. TIB is an asinine program that should be canceled, but the people doing that job deserve safe working conditions.
  17. Our concept of civil-military relations* is built largely on the assumption that high-ranking officers will resign rather than carry out policies they know to be foolish. The problem here is that apparently no-one at a high level is willing to resign when faced with objectives they know to be impossible (or perhaps unachievable at a price we are willing to pay, or with methods we are willing to use). *It also presumes a Congress going about it's business in a responsible manner, which is not what we have.
  18. Had to laugh at the Med School Virgin Auction. Here's the line that sums it up: "There will be a legal contract between us," she said. "[The winner] may not be happy [with the sex], but he knows what he's paying for." If a guy just wanted to spend too much money and have disappointing sex, he could just get married instead.
  19. Unlikely. My guess is something to treat an STD. There is gouge floating around that your commander will be informed if the doc finds out you have an STD. I know this is true for HIV, not sure about less serious STDs. If a guy is married and caught something, you could see why he wouldn't want to take a chance, especially if his chain of command doesn't like him.
  20. Nice first post. RPA's work nights, that's a given. The RPA mission isn't even stood up there yet, so how would you know how they are going to get treated? In conclusion, I concur with 10%truth:
  21. Nice, I'm saving that one for later.
  22. No, just required by the Tongue and Quill.
