  1. This always confused me. If it's ok to take a brand new post-UPT Lt and make him a FAIP, why is someone with a greater level of experience not acceptable?
  2. Are they no longer teaching "Superiors correct, subordinates inform"?
  3. The easy solution is rated personnel wear ABUs never.
  4. 4. They are out there, discovered we are a planet of douchebags, and avoid our solar system for that reason.
  5. What's really fucked up is that when this war is over in 2 years and suicide rates decline accordingly, the credit will go to Resiliency Day and Anti-Suicide CBTs ensuring we will be stuck with them forever because they "work".
  6. Actions have consequences, boo-hoo-fucking-hoo.
  7. Yeah, but apparently not the kind he likes.
  8. I assumed the inauguration photo was there to point out that having 43 consecutive peaceful transfers of power through some means other than hereditary monarchy is a remarkable achievement , and is unmatched in human history.
  9. Well, not by the murderer ...
  10. Walking on the moon is almost as badass as being https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7KgdehBBsw.
  11. Seriously, 10 year Senior Airmen? Someone ought to be competitive for TSgt by that time.
  12. Someone enlighten me; what is a "much cranium"? Googling proved ineffective.
  13. Really? You want to watch some guy jump off a bridge?
  14. Mayday! Mayday! He's in a flat spin heading out to sea!
  15. FIFY. Totally agree with the post overall though.
  16. SuperWso, I quoted you, but my rage/disgust was directed at the original poster. His tone just pissed me off, but I'm not sure why. I think maybe he's implying there is something wrong with wanting the pension. We all take calculated risks, and each of us has a point where it's not worth it anymore. There's an anecdote in Barry Lyndon that captures my feelings on this perfectly.
  17. Does anyone seriously hold it against the crew of the Memphis Belle that they went home after doing their 25 missions or any guy who flew 100 in Vietnam and went home? We all signed up knowing there were certain risks, and that we were exposed to them for the duration of our service commitment. If you don't like it, leave when you're commitment is up. There is no dishonor in that. USAF= U Signed A Fuckingcontract.* *Yes, I know I plagiarized that from the Marines.
  18. The way I see it, the boots were free, but I paid $149 to never polish again. Well worth it. Plus they are incomparably more comfortable than the shoddy pieces of shit I was issued at UPT. Now that mine are broken in, they're so soft that every step feels like walking on angel tits.
  19. I dug up my copy of my most recent clearance application. Here's the relevant text in bold: Section 22: Police Record For this item, report information regardless of whether the record in your case has been sealed, expunged, or otherwise stricken from the court record, or the charge was dismissed. You need not report convictions under the Federal Controlled Substances Act for which the court issued an expungement order under the authority of 21 U.S.C. 844 or 18 U.S.C. 3607. Be sure to include all incidents whether occurring in the U.S. or abroad. For questions a and b, respond for the timeframe of the last 7 years (if an SSBI go back 10 years). Exclude any fines of less than $300 for traffic offenses that do not involve alcohol or drugs. You'll be fine. Also, be sure and make multiple copies of the application for your records. You'll need one when you fill out another SF-86 5 years from now, and they need you to list half of the shit all over again so they can investigate it again. Your tax dollars at work.
  20. Apparently if you are a Staff Sergeant or below, you don't have to tell your supervisor if you are convicted of a crime. Am I reading that wrong? 2.10. Self Reporting Criminal Conviction. If you are above the pay grade of E-6, on active duty, or in an active status in a Reserve Component and are convicted of any violation of a criminal law, you must report, in writing, the conviction to your first-line military supervisor within 15 days of the date of conviction. Depending on the level of your security clearance, there may be additional, more specific reporting requirements (e.g., reporting arrests, in addition to convictions) which must be met. (AFPD 36-29, Military Standards).
  21. I'm partial to this bumper sticker, especially in March.
  22. 2. I'd rather not spend money on a uniform I wear about once a year.
  23. This one really isn't that hard. Keep in the people who want to stay, let go the people who want to leave. There are plenty in the latter category. Whatever you do, once the decision is made, let people know in clear unambiguous language what that decision is. Instead of hiding one sentence in an article nobody read. I understand that alot of the nonsense is budget driven, but bringing back morale patches and abolishing Blue Monday are $0 fixes.
  24. I've met a surprising number of volunteers, but nothing like 80% +. Closer to 15%. 412 out of 500 ... bullshit. 88 out of 500, I'd believe that.
