Were you looking at the FM Sustainment Matrix? What I wasn't clear on was this just a list of career field shortages/overages or was this a list of eligible AFSCs? As I'm looking at it the links seem to be broken and everything goes back to the original PDF doc. The not waiving deployment return date sucks becuase I imagine that so many people are going to beat down this door they wont offer it next year when I wont be deployment resricted from applying. However, I have to admit this is amazing step in the right direction.

So I just signed my continuation paperwork (I have that saved for cut and paste, I'm so relieved). As they yay, I've got a job present, I was going to treat myself to a Ruger Mini-14, possibly a Mini-30 if I can find one. I have a lot of AR buds who have nothing positive to say about the Rugers. I've only shot one once when I was in high school but I remember it being a great rifle. I love the aesthetics and the classic styling of the wood on gun-metal blue, plus when I start to teach my kids to shoot bigger rounds I want iron sights without pistol grips. Any thoughts on whether these are the modern reincarnation of the M1 (like they appear to be) or a pot metal piece of crap (like the AR guys are prone say)?

I can only speak for myself but I just signed my continuation paperwork...and right quick. Having said that I read the FY14 program and it still makes no sense to me. Why they don't have an option for those of us who were passed over to move on, solve some manning problems while still allowing us to be "in the club" at a reduced rate makes no sense to me. I'm thrilled and thankful at being continued and I think my posts will probably take a decidedly more positive tone from here on out, so I dont know if I would take anything if it were offered. Bu I know dozens of people who would jump at the chance.

There's a few groups of people that I have instant respect for based on thier MOS (or whatever Coasties call it) and the rescue swimmers are one of them. I met a few of these guys during a show and tell day out in San Diego, instantly struck me as consumate professionals. Respect for a job well done...

I think what he's saying is the inclusion of Murder 3 with negligent child abuse thrown in at the end of the trial is leaving a bunch of us scratching our heads.

I'm curious if anyone knows (or has an idea) why it burned the way it did?

Oh my god. My head is is spinning at the utter stupidity of this. Since we don't have to register vehicles at pass and tag anymore how do they keep track if you drive your car on base 60 days or more?

I started the ######ing thing and have had a pistol in my mouth since page 3.

You realize you just came up with his next blog topic: "Nazi board moderator advocates tazing the last true patriot for defending the constitution" -
Correction...four C-17s. For a country about 100 miles end to end with no need for strategic power projection...I think you might be on to something.

Go to Doha and see how friggin' fat the average Qatari is...they have no intention of defending themselves, espcially if we are willing to pay for it. I also have a feeling they wouldnt mind sticking a knife in our back if the Islamic brothers across the gulf REALLY threatened to start lobbing SS missiles.

This is absolutely the case. I'm not uncomfortable around gay people at all, in fact if this kid would have helped me at a bank as opposed to a military finance section I wouldn't have given it any thought. There was just something incredibly unmilitary about the way he acted.
-
If I'm being totally honest, the nail polish and the goatee were secondary to his mannerisms. Although I don't consider myself a homo-phobe, I was incredibly uncomfortable because he was far more effeminate than most military women you meet. He was complete with a lisp and lilting tone and had a little head shake while he was talking. Should I have said something to him or supervisor? Probably and I still can talk to his supervisor, though with the amount of Chiefs around this "undisclosed location" I can't imagine the matter hasn't already been addressed...probably repeatedly. My point is more of are we just supposed to passively accept this as the wave of the future? My grandpa was an MP when the force was integrated in the 40s/50s and to the day he died he resented it...obviously he was wrong but his prism was from a generation with different standards than I have now. But will my views on effeminate men (which I don’t think are all that close minded) be a relic of a more ignorant generation just like I view my grandpas?

Absolutely...blackish colored nail polish.

Of course this is the only forum where I'm comfortable discussing this so here goes... Today I went to finance and was helped by the first openly gay person I've met in uniform...except not only was he gay, he rode a pink surfboard on a rainbow wave whenever it was that he came out. Complete with nail polish, a very meticulously done goatee (I casually asked him if he had a shaving waiver, he said politely that he was working on it). If there ever there was a walking stereotype, this kid was it. To be honest, as far as finance trips go, this was maybe top third. He knew what he was talking about and I don't think I will have to make a second trip. I like to think of myself as pretty open minded but I have to be honest that this kids mannerisms made me feel embarrassed for him and the uniform that he was wearing, in spite of the fact that he seemed like a decent troop. Is this an isolated incident of a guy working for a MSgt or Captain too afraid to tell him what’s what or is this a sign of things to come?

My favorite Manas memory I was fresh off the rotator having just checked out my PPE and carrying my bags, litterally dragging everything in a jury rigged configuration from the issue tent to the sleeping tent (becuase I'm not a octopus with 8 arms) As I was struggling a very snotty TSgt yelled at me as she drove by alone in her F-350ish type truck that I was going to ruin "her" body armor treating it like that. She drove another 69 feet, parked her truck and went inside. I think we'll be just fine without Manas

I tried to post a comment to his blog once, specifically on the absolutely asinine attack he posted against Rainman, associating him with the apparently gay Marine Colonel from American Beauty. It was just so ludicrous and specious that I felt something had to be said…but from what I gathered was by design, the registration process to actually post a comment was so time consuming it quickly became not worth my time. I kind of got the idea he didn’t really want any comments…irony after the rant against M2? Where I’m working now I sit in the same row as the RPA LNOs and none of them has ever heard of him. I have this theory that if he were half as bold as he says he is, he would be legendary at least in his community, if not the AF. One of his blogs says he was recently cleared of some rather serious charges (I gathered article 15, maybe even court martial), in this blog he says that all of this LOCs and LORs were used against him (if true, whoa, surprise!) but that the convening authority had the good grace to read through between the lines of his previous indiscretions to see what a true patriot he was and the fact that he was only standing up against the system—I call bullshit. My theory is that he has just as much frustration against the system as we do, but in his mind he see’s himself as a grand crusader. In action however, he doesn’t do shit which makes him feel like the ineffectual moron he is. Because he can’t shake the finger at himself he goes on his big-little-man blog and (when allowed) BO.net and publicly shames the rest of us for not taking the action to stand up against the system. In other words…he’s f-ing nuts. -
I wonder if thier's will be as spiffy as these?

Somebody has to know him in real life? Is this an internet persona or how he acts day to day? I check in on his blog from time to time and if half the shit he says is true his sanctimonious attitude and overall shit-magnetism would make him legendary along the lines of M-word. Edit...after clicking the link to his blog and seeing his blurred out picture, I've decided I'm far too much a gentleman to poke fun at his chubby armed wife and her dress that looks it was ripped of my prom date from 1992. -
Report Slams Military's Recent Camouflage Uniforms
Catbox replied to GearDownNoGreen's topic in General Discussion
Correction my friend...In garrison the AF wore ABUs. If you went outside the wire you got ABSGs (because the ABU is essentially shrink wrap when exposed to heat) which despite the ridiculous pattern were actually pretty comfortable. They were made out of Nomex and you didn’t have to blouse the boots. They still had buttons but if you could get the ABSG "under-armor" shirt and the non bloused pants the whole set up wasn’t bad, especially when walking around. Having said all that it was utterly ######ing stupid that we had to get a ridiculously expensive uniform (ABSGs apparently cost the gov't around a grand for a workable set) to use in combat because our Airman COMBAT Uniform was not useable in combat. It truly boggles the mind. I'm wearing OCPs this time and they are ok...in my mind the most workable solution to the current mess. -
Hoss, you are spot on...however we live in a time where all this is a reality: --Navs and pilots not promoted to Captain (I have a hard time even typing this its so ridiculous) because they didn't have good enough paper to meet a board. --IPs and evaluators not getting promoted to Major despite being deployed multiple times, being relative masters in the plane and having honed leadership skills in combat. And in my view almost no one in a senior role is giving us any idea why the ###### things like this are happening so we have no choice but to speculate and thus (and mostly unintentionally) perpetuate rumors. Big Blue (senior leaders) could put an end to this tomorrow by very simply cutting the bullshit and being and acting like the honorable people they all claim to be. Edit: still new here.

What's rough about this crash (don't get me wrong thier all tough to take) is that no matter what you do in fixed wing aviation you feel like you get to know the tanker crews...especially over the course of a deployment where you get gas from the same guys several times a week. They become friends in a hurry... God speed guys...

its all over facebook...not sure of any details.
