  1. For the experimental guys: https://www.eaa.org/eaa/news-and-publications/eaa-news-and-aviation-news/news/07-08-2021-faa-releases-policy-on-training-in-experimental-primary-and-limited-category-aircraft?fbclid=IwAR19Mrep5-YC8HQpxReizXZMr4WhFybp7-ugh6MrGY_37cNhhmpqEqsb84c BLUF: The FAA, in going after a specific Warbird operator that was giving rides in a warbird and calling it instruction, creates and then doubles down on a rule that essentially outlaws getting instruction in any experimental, even if you are the private owner and are the one receiving instruction. The only recourse is for every single experimental owner to apply for a Letter of Deviation Authority (LODA). Absolutely terrible ruling from the FAA. Big government gonna big government. Under the new ruling you can’t even get a Flight Review in your own RV-8 without a LODA, let alone get transition training or even your PPL if you’re someone who decides to buy an Experimental and train in it.
  2. But at least you saved 16¢ on your 4th of July Cookout!!!!! 🇺🇸 #propaganda
  3. In addition to what’s in that article, people waiting asylum/immigration hearings are no longer waiting on the other side of the border, as was the previous admins policy. They are now instead released into the country with a piece of paper for a “notice to appear”, but that piece of paper doesn’t even have a court date on it. It’s essentially a free ticket into this country now. There are reports from the border of groups willingly turning themselves in to CBP because they know they will just get their paper and be on their way. We essentially no longer have a southern border.
  4. Pretty unreal what is happening in this country these days. Also saw on the local news here in SoCal the other day that a boat of people trying enter the country illegally had Chinese nationals on it. Who the hell knows what’s coming through our border now as a consequence of this administration’s sick plan to import demographic change in order to win elections and solidify power.
  5. Second calling the TFSC. The myPers “ask a question” feature is also pretty responsive.
  6. So what patch got banned in UPT land?
  7. I’d love to know the rates of COVID vax vs Flu vax in elderly. I haven’t been able to find that data. I’m not saying the VAERS deaths shouldn’t be looked at. It would be nice to get some actual research on the numbers. But citing them as “vaccine reaction deaths” is spreading false information because that data does not track that.
  8. VAERS data is NOT people dying from vaccine reactions. It’s people dying of any cause after getting a vaccine. To my unscientific brain it seems highly likely that a vaccine that was emphasized in an elderly and immune compromised population would have a high probability of some of those people dying of any cause after getting a vaccine. I’m not accusing anyone on here of this, but one thing I have found hilarious is the people who cast doubt on COVID death numbers (a doubt I agree with btw), all of a sudden cite VAERS data like it’s gospel truth, despite it having much of the vagueness as COVID death numbers.
  9. The thing is though, a lot of the “slight left leaners” these days have fallen in line with some absolute bat shit leftist stuff. Look at what figures in politics, sports, media, business, and even some in the military, say and support publicly today that not all that long ago would have been thought insane. I don’t really think it’s a conspiracy theory when it’s right out there in the open for people to see. The million dollar question is why are these people doing this? I tend to agree that many of them are not secret marxists, which to me is even scarier. That means they have at some point recently taken the bait that these ideas aren’t so bad after all. It means that the soft words of equity, inclusion, etc… and the fear of being cancelled is probably working.
  10. Scary stuff when you really read between the lines. I continue to stand by the fact that the real extremism threat to this country is far left extremism packaged behind nice words like diversity, inclusion, and my absolute favorite: EQUITY. Anyone who believes in a free society should get shivers down their spine when they hear politicians, the military, private companies, etc... using the word equity.
  11. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/for-juneteenth-its-time-for-a-new-flag-11623958522 “It’s time for a new flag” That didn’t take long.
  12. June 19th 1865 only relates to Galveston and Texas specifically. Most slaves were freed as the Union Army advanced at various dates. In fact the last slaves weren't officially free until December of 1865 since the Union states of Kentucky and Delaware did not outlaw it during the war. I think I agree with Congressman Roy. "Juneteenth should be commemorated as the expression of the realization of the end of slavery in the United States - and I commend those who worked for its passage," Roy said. "I could not vote for this bill, however, because the holiday should not be called 'Juneteenth National Independence Day' but rather, ‘Juneteenth National Emancipation [or Freedom or otherwise] Day.’"
  13. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/president-biden-signs-juneteenth-national-independence-day-act/vi-AAL9Wmn “Juneteenth National Independence Day Act” Uh, we already have an Independence Day. I don’t have a problem with setting aside the day for a holiday, but the name of it certainly raises an eyebrow.
  14. The silencing of discourse is what hurts productive discourse.
  15. Dude, I’m sorry, but your whole post is evidence that your entire justification for the silencing of legitimate discussion of COVID origins is based on your own personal views on Trump. You couldn’t even help yourself. Sadly the entire media, tech, and to some extent Democrat complex felt the same way. Not a single person in here was complaining that Trump wasn’t taken seriously, or even defending him. The problem is that rational discussion was silenced due to a hatred of Trump; so much so that not even common sense minded, middle of the road individuals could mention the possibility of a lab leak without risking being canceled, banned, called a racist, etc… Just re-read your post man. You even included “Xenaphobic” like you’re still reading from sort of April 2020 playbook.
  16. Well you've proven that your issue is with Trump (surprise surprise) and not the fact that the entire media, big tech, and democrat party complex tried to silence discussion on something that had a legitimate possibility of being true. That was the entire point of my post. The media, tech, democrats, etc... allowed zero discussion of the lab leak, even from commoners on Facebook, simply because the lab leak theory had a slight stain of orange on it. You could even be called racist if you so much as dared to insinuate such a thing was possible. Sorry, but its not the outlandish statements of Trump that stopped discussion of a totally possible theory, its the Orwellian efforts of those sitting on the left side of the aisle, using fear, threats, and actual force (technological force of platform bans) to have a narrative fit the only one they wanted at the time.
  17. The lab leak theory would have been taken more seriously if the powers that be in the media, big tech, etc… didn’t have such an out of control case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. It doesn’t matter what dumb way Trump mouthed off about that; anyone with half a brain could put two and two together early in the Pandemic and realize that a lab leak, from a totalitarian nation with bio lab/research facility in that same city, was a legitimate possibility. Who cares how Trump phrased it, there are other adults in our political class that should have put their heads together and tried to find a way to get the world behind finding out the truth. Also the fact that talking about a lab leak was a silence-able offense and is now not just speaks to the MASSIVE hypocrisy many in positions of power have in this country. Big tech and political leaders went out of their way to silence legitimate discussion on the topic, but now that a certain orange man is out of power and Fauci’s emails have leaked, it’s okay to talk about again. Orwell much? Regardless we’ve probably lost any opportunity to actually find out the truth. Whatever way the virus came to be it sure as hell worked out in China’s favor.

    F1 Thread

Absolutely, and it would be really cool to get an international oval. They used to race the oval in Japan, it would be awesome to see that back. There are also a couple of ovals down in Mexico that are a good size for IndyCar (similar to Iowa) but would need safety upgrades. With Pato Oward being Mexican and becoming a top driver, that might be worth it though. But yeah man, it’s honestly the best pure racing out there right now. I encourage anyone I know who’s into motorsports to watch IndyCar.
  19. IMAs don’t drill like traditional reservists. You get attached to active duty units and work out a schedule with them on when they want you to come support. An IDT is kind of like a drill day though in that 4 hours of work equals 1 IDT. So a CAT A IMA usually works 24 actual days to fulfill that requirement since the active unit is almost certainly going to want you there for an 8 hour day. Just like all other reservists though you still need to do your “two weeks active duty”, so that’s what the 14 day AT requirement is. The beauty is you can basically schedule it however you want as long as your active unit agrees. I recently transitioned to an IMA role but haven’t finalized my schedule yet. However a former unit I worked in had a CAT A IMA and she would only be in the office twice a year. For like 2-3 weeks max at a time.
  20. The management of the border crisis starts to make a lot more sense when you realize it’s a deliberate strategy and not actually incompetence. Its a long game play of trying to import as many future Democrat voters into the country as possible; whether through an amnesty/citizenship future bill or at the very least through the birth of children of those who crossed illegally Honestly it proves the subtle racism of the democrats that they expect that anyone with dark skin should automatically vote for them. Although I guess that’s not a surprising development when the president already said “You ain’t black” if you don’t vote for him. That line has to be one of the most openly racist things a president has said in recent history. But it didn’t come in the form of a mean tweet so I guess it’s okay? Its an absolute clown show running this country right now.

    F1 Thread

I enjoy F1, but you all should check out IndyCar as well if you like open wheel racing. Less engineering and tech heavy of a series, so if you’re into that I guess IndyCar can’t provide as much for you there. Good looking and sounding cars though and the series itself puts so much more in the hands of the drivers. There are actual battles and passes for the lead and small teams have legitimate chances to win. In fact the most well funded team in the series, Penske, has yet to win a race this year. 7 different winners through 8 races so far this year as well. Good mix of tracks as: road, street course, and ovals. I feel like I’m doing a marketing post or something, but I just finished watching today’s race in Detroit. Great race and better than pretty much any race F1 has put on in recent history.
  22. Getting a vaccine doesn’t mean you won’t get the virus.
  23. I got it in April. Sore arm lasted longer than a flu shot and that was it. It was nice to be one and done.
  24. Damn, I can’t believe I posted my response above 5 (edit: 6*) years ago now. My family still lives in the area and the Suffolk area I described is still very nice, and again the commute on 664 (Monitor Merrimack bridge) isn’t as terrible as the I-64 HRBT would be. If you want to avoid the tunnels you’d have to do something up on the Peninsula: Newport News, Hampton, or Williamsburg. I’m not as well versed on good areas in the Hampton-Newport News area, but I’m sure there are some. Kiln Creek is nice I’ve heard, but there are also some really sketch areas in Hampton and “Bad Newz”. Williamsburg is very nice but also more expensive and a lot of old people. Norfolk and Virginia Beach probably have the best options for places to live, plus schools, but I think the commute through the tunnel on I-64 would be hell every day. Plenty of people do it though. There is a pretty large amount of private school options. Nansmond-Suffolk is in Suffolk, Hampton Roads Academy is in Newport News, and Walsingham Academy is in Williamsburg. There are even more in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Look up TCIS Conference and you’ll get a list of all of them. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions. I actually went to one of the private schools in the area from 1st-12th grade back in the day.
