One of my sons ships off to the Navy in Aug. He’s trying out for SWCC. He hasn’t even left yet and the Navy already has his ass up every morning doing pretty intense physical training. He’s pretty stoked. I tried to talk him into being a pilot but he wants to shoot fully automatic guns, drive boats and hop out of aircraft. You can’t do that in the civilian world. My other two sons have expressed zero interest in the military (I’ve taken all of them flying, and none want to be a pilot, lol). I think volunteering for military service has to do with your personality. Not everyone wants to the excitement (or extreme boredom) that comes with the military life. Most news articles want doom and gloom. I trust my son and the kind of dudes he hangs out with to take care of us if shit goes down. The young guys aren’t all selfish dumbasses.

The retirees keep dinging people's cars on the 1st of the month at the BX. This means airmen have to take time off of their busy days to get those door dings fixed. Its causing a lot of problems, especially in Turkey.

I know that you've been there and done that /s. The military will not ask you to fly a mission with shitty weather, bad guys lobbing exploding telephone poles and fire rocks (tracer rounds lol) at you, in a foreign land 1,000s of miles away from your family. They will order you to. Just like the jab. I hate the Covid vaccine as much as the next guy but dudes in the military don't have the option to punch out just because they're scared. When you fly mission where lives are at stake, shit gets real. We weren't playing video games and listening to Drake (hes a Canadian how gangsta can that dude be? lol) getting pumped up on how tough we are by using our imaginations, we did real shit. Shit that keeps me awake at night. Edit: I bid you good day Sir! (Imagine me saying this with a West London accent). That's a polite way of saying GFYS. Edit 2: There were 18 yo dudes on the ground, carrying guns, looking into the eyes of the targets they had to take out. I'm sure they'd applaud your efforts to help them get home by quitting. Some of them never saw home again and died in that shithole (take your pick which one). That was the last place they saw. No family, no Drake, no internet tough guys. They gave it all. Most of us on this site did some sort of "boot camp" along with "military pilot training" and actual "combat deployments". You're talking with big boys and girls now. If you choose the military, make sure to tell your flight commander on day one of UPT that you went to boot camp. He/she's gonna respect you more than anyone else in your class. Lol

Most places where you find gainful employment as pilot are going to make you play some sort of "game". The military makes you play more. People who have not been to war always say they dont have a problem killing. It will have an impact on your life, whether you killed bad guys or couldn’t recover that one guy because of the weather. Being responsible for others lives is a huge burden. But for me, I took pride helping my brothers in arms come home or helping someone on a bad night. You can teach a monkey to fly a Cessna. Flying military aircraft takes a different mindset than being a regular old PPL aviation god. Good luck.

Yeah. But something has to give. I dont think there is an easy fix. Educating Americans about what is fucked with the status quo, electing people who care about helping others (not lining their pockets) enacting some sort of term limit for congress, making lobbying illegal and a bunch of other changes will help. Problem is, how do you convince the rule makers to change the rules? We cant. Voting doesn't work. It's a lie to make us feel like we have some sort control of our Country's destiny. We don't. We are just being kept pacified with the current system. We (Americans) argue against each other for the stupidest shit I believe humanity has ever seen: bonus holes, abortion, pushing a crazy agenda that helps a very small portion of society (trans movement) and etc... All the while, the middle class is disappearing and the dollar is capable of buying less and less. We have a complulsive liar as our Commander and Chief.. How can he pass a security clearance when there is actual evidence of him telling lies? The other option, has banged a porn star while he was still married. What about all of the rich dudes who banged underage girls at Epstein's Island? Brushed under the rug. Our government is corrupt. This country will fail if we stay on the current course.
