I think it's great to give NCOs a pay raise but why only NCOs? Also, when has it ever been good to take non taxable income away from your people? Especially if they are the same people hopping into aircraft and flying for a living. Or maybe it's a CCT, PJ or JTAC that do jobs that put you in harms way. How many finance troops think they might die when they go to work?

First off. I'm glad we're spending money in the Ukraine. To answer your first question. Because nobody cares. What other brain busters do you have for me? Edit: I reread my post and I can see how it's confusing to you Pawnman. I'm not implying that we should take money from Ukraine and use it to help the homeless. I was trying to show how the government doesn't really care about domestic issues like homelessness. Because if they did, it would only take a little "budget dust" to help them. If we have money for all of the foreign aid we provide to the rest of the world. And if what we are spending in Ukraine is merely budget dust, then surely we could have helped solve some problems in our own country with a little dust as well. I should have clarified that in my previous post. I don't mind spending money to help get rid of Putin. Not one bit.

They figured out that with the amount of sleep loadmasters get in flight, they're not actually working as much as everyone else. Lol.

That's one of the small victories in the battle to retirement. Fly, fight and win! You can find employment where nobody cares about the red slides out here. You can also do nothing if you plan well and live within your means. Not a recruiter. I loved flying and my bros but hated the queep. Stick it out one way or another for some type of pension; Active, Reserve, Guard or Federal. Get something for that time served. You earned it! The irony is one of my last posts (prior to my resurgence last month) on BO was in this very forum talking about queep and people getting RIFd. I probably had about 12 years in at that time. I wish I could tell my past self that I made it into the golden parachute club. That would've been a huge stress relief. Lol. I remember the good times. Flying in the military was a privilege and I took my job seriously. In the end it's about getting our bros/sis home. Whether it's on a combat sortie providing CAS or on training sortie teaching a young dude how to land on NVGs in whiteout conditions. Some didn't make it. Remember them. We all know who does the flying, fighting and winning. Good luck and have fun! You'll think about it everyday when you're gone.

That sucks if you guys (retired) take a cut in any type of pay but especially special duty pay. Flight pay was enough to keep me from going crazy when dealing with non aviators (low to mid ranking mx dudes were cool too). It was a sanity buffer.

I like to take a little hit of that budget dust to help the homeless. Nobody is really doing anything except moving them to other places. I imagine good majority of the nation's homeless eventually end up in So Cal (good weather for the homeless). Skid Row (not the band) is one example of many places that should not exist in our society. Dem/Reps aren't really doing anything to help. It's mostly lip service and local volunteers doing what little they can. Homeless American children as well. There is so much wrong in our country right now that it makes me question what pronoun to call myself? I forgot this was the Russian thread. Putin will eventually die. The sad thing is what happens when the soldiers come home and realize that they were duped. Going into hell and killing people for a lie. Now they come home to a broken country. Putin will eventually die. Lyrics maybe? Putin should be scared.

"Hey guys. I'm flying to Walmart in this twin I stole. Do you need anything?"- the most Walmart person to ever live.

My grandfather retired from the USAF in the late 1960s. He started in WW2 as a B-26 bombardier and flew as a flight engineer in other aircraft in Korea and Vietnam as well. Guess what? He started a second family in Germany after the war. My mom says that my grandmother used to beat the shit out of him on a regular basis when he was home lol. But in all seriousness, he had a huge drinking/womanizing problem. My grandmother had enough and left him when my mom was around 7 years old. My mom says she remembers my grandfather screaming violently in his sleep quite a bit. I never knew this side of my grandfather. By the time I met him, he had given up alcohol (not his chewing tobacco or women) and he was very supportive of me getting into military aviation. I know other people who struggle with PTSD. It's not a joke. I have a good friend who lost his FAA flight physical a year after starting his airline career because of it. We all know people who have died from war and suicide from the last 20 years of fun in the sun. The point I'm trying to make (besides the fact my grandfather had bigger balls than I can ever dream to possess) is that war F's with people's minds. It breaks down the strongest warriors (even the services guy handing out towels lol) in some way. Hell, the stress of flying training sorties has broken down grown men. I want someone who's going to perform in a stressful environment. In my experience, war (military aviation) is not the place for social experiments. We need strong minded people in the military, not dudes with purple hair taking hormone pills. Once the dude figures out who they like to bang, let them in. The time and place to figure that out is prior to joining. Who do want to lead your children into the next war? A drunk (drinks more than two per sitting) who knows how to lead in battle or a nice guy who knows what pronoun the kids prefer. I know who I'd rather fight against.

I was more worried about being told to "have a seat" vs "sit down" than wearing blues. But it did suck wearing blues lol.

I agree that it's interesting as to why this happened/happens. I wonder if it's because it takes time for immigrants and etc. to integrate into society? I'm now a minority in the state of CA. In a few years, I expect there to be more Hispanic representation in leadership positions here than we currently have. My mayor is Hispanic. Things change at a slower pace than we like here in America. It's good that things (racism, sexism, exorcisms, etc) are being identified and corrected. It's just the approach of making everyone deep throat diversity that is making me tired of listening anymore. I know it's cool to know your heritage and be represented but I looked at the bros/sis I flew with as airmen not Irish, Mexican, African, Australian, Texan?...Americans. In the aircraft I didn't care what you looked like, as long as you knew your job. Same with commanders, who cares what they look as long as they take care of their dudes. Easy peasy.

I know it's not as cool as most of the videos in this thread but could you imagine a formation of fat Americans flying these things to Walmart?
-
-
Imagine if people put this much thought and effort into flying their aircraft vs making sure we have enough minorities or women with dicks leading us into combat.
-
If you don't agree you're a racist, sexist, homophobe, fascist, xenophobe and whatever made up words used to vilify the other side. It's the American way!

That's awesome!
