Ganglion Cyst in wrist and TFOF in 6 months, can I opt for removal?
Chicken replied to Bauwse's topic in Aviation Medicine
I'm not sure how you're doing your pushups, but I've had the same issue. I used to get those flare ups every couple months, and they were painful. Have not had one in years but have done pushups on my knuckles ever since 2010. If I keep my wrists straight I have no issues... and I rather not have unneeded surgery if I don't need it. Plus it makes the boys at Cobra Kai proud when I do knuckle push ups... -
Are there any suggestions out there for getting past a difficult VA appraisal. My wife and I are trying to build waterfront in Gulfbreeze and the process has been a nightmare so far. The first appraisal was way low so we had to go back to the drawing board. What are some things that appraisers look at? We're trying to add things that might raise the appraised value considerably while keeping our cost down. For example, we have a huge loft that we can close off give a closet and make it a bedroom. We also noticed that while the area under the house was the EXACT SAME amount of space as a comp the appraiser used, the comp had 4 garage doors while ours had only 3 making our house worth $10,000 less. Thanks!

Wife and I are getting ready to PCS to FL and looking to possibly build a home. We sold a couple house, paid some things off, and have little left other than a low car payment and a couple credit cards.. currently have a low DTI ratio. We are trying to see what are options are as far as what we can build/buy. Using my own spreadsheet we could actually afford upwards of $750k but I know the banks don't see what I do sometimes. Is there a good method to determine what a bank will pre-approve you for instead of applying to numerous banks that want to run your credit? We will be using a VA loan with a good amount of money down. Thanks!

Great example of what is making this AF what it is. Devote your promotion and energy on payback......wow.
-
Not sure about what you're looking at specifically, but when it says MAJCOM I believe it's referring to the promotion rate for that MAJCOM. For example, a P in AFSOC got you what was really a 22% promotion rate (or close to it). Other MAJCOMs do better. Some worse. AFSOC doesn't take care of people and if you are new to the command and not an AFSOC baby you are f'd.

Doesn't mean they get a bonus.. I won't get the bonus.. even if I fall into an AFSC that gets a bonus, I will NEVER get one because as of June 9th (assuming I get continued) I will have a DOS which means I am no longer eligible for the bonus. Captains typically get continuation until 20 years. Majors 24 years I believe..
-
Nope.. up to 24 years. I'll still retire at 20. And if I have an ADSC and offered continuation, won't they still make me serve (potentially) the remainder of my ADSC?
-
According to the PC office.. any ALC won't even make it past their office let alone to the SAF/PC. I'm not sure what C-2 is.. any chance of getting it removed temporarily? If you can all you need is a good 422 that shows no ALC then throw it back on there after the fact. I've seen people already medically cleared by the ANG and still not able to PC because of the ALC..
-
Nope.. everyone recommended disapproval.
-
Disapproved 3 days ago. Submitted 8 March. To SAF/PC 23 March. Disapproved 8 April. Requested DOS 8 June 16 and removing 24 months of ADSC from Post 9-11 GI Bill. AFSC 12S. Was hired back in November for an AGR slot to fly MQ-9s. Reasoning for the disapproval was "best interest of the Air Force". I thought they would give you a no kidding "12S manning is at xx% or something along those lines? No 12S was continued last year... but they need them that badly? What in the F is wrong with AFPC?
-
I'm taking the wife and her sister to Orlando 23 March - 1 April. Just found out it's the only time Disney World has blackout dates on their tickets ITT sells because of spring break. Is there any way around this or other places that offer discounts?
-
So I have an AGR spot lined up... however I went on mypers today and it talked about continuation.. outlined about 30 AFSCs that are considered "critical skills" .. so now im wondering if my palace chase package is ed now?
-
Just out of curiosity... what drives a bonus for certain AFSCs anyways? Why are there a lot of critical skills not offered a bonus?
-
No idea what the stats are this year.. and depends on your command. I don't have the info in front of me but AFSOC last year had a promotion rate of something like 18% for folks with a P.
-
Nevermind.. I think I found my own answer. The reg points to a current profile and assigns a ALC to you based on your profile. So if the profile expired I should not have any sort of ALC that pops up when I submit my package..? However, the only ADSC I have is for GI benefit transfer which is a 4 year ADSC. I have only served 50% of it so now I'm concerned that might be an issue. In AFI 36-3205 table 1.1 states: Have completed at least two-thirds of the initial total ADSC by requested date of separation (DOS). EXCEPTION: Officers must complete at least 24 months of active duty before being eligible for release from active duty if applying for release under paragraph 1.3.8.2. Is that mainly talking about your initial ADSC upon entering? Pilot/Nav training ADSC.. or any ADSC you ever incur? I had thought GI Benefit Transfer was somewhat easy to get out of...
-
So was getting ready to submit my package and just got word from a buddy of mine that his PC package was denied due to him being exempt for a portion of the PT test.. not a perm thing but something that happened and lasted for a couple of months. Is this a real thing? PC is always denied if you are exempt from one component of the PT test??
-
What AFi is this in? I was curious to see if mine would get approved with my only ADSC being GI Bill transfer going until 2018.....
-
If I am at the 14 year point.. and decide to go RPA, does this $35000 apply to me? If not, what would I get as a RPA dude?
-
I talked with someone at AFPC and they anticipate this as well. TERA will no longer be an option and folks get continuation just as prior to 2011. According to AFPC the last board in Sep (not sure what it was, non LAF O4?) offered continuation to everyone passed over. When I asked about the chances of non-continuation and then not getting TERA they said they is 0% chance of that happening.. other than negative discriminators on their record.

What in the F. Are they really dropping pipeline guys to the AC-J now???
-
I'm not sure how the H model community or instructors treated their students, but this guy is a W pipeline guy specifically talking to the W side of the 551,
-
W Navs currently don't go to LR. The most difficult thing with teaching new navs is the Cat 1 procedures.. but they don't receive a checkride on it. All of this might change when/if AFSOC pipeline guys start going through Kirtland. Euro I hope you filled out a student critique when you departed the 551 if you felt you were wronged.

Shit on at the 551st how exactly?
