  1. Touché. I'm all over the place this morning and am going to time out.
  2. I did a three year guard tour flying vipers for TFAP or whatever they're calling it now. It didn't make me an expert on guard affairs, but it gave me an appreciation of a couple of the points you address- homesteading, a civilian job that is the priority during peacetime, and continuity due to lack of turnover. When it comes to the "band of brothers" type of camaraderie you allege, that isn't what I observed and frankly I think you're full of sh1t to downplay the bonds made on active duty. The demographics are younger on AD vs the guard, but my experience showed that they matched up pretty evenly on the dirtbag to pull-your-weight ratio. There was plenty of this kind of "regaf" hate to go around- some of it was justified, and some of it fostered the rift between the two commands. It may have won the hearts of a couple disgruntled regaf recruits, if that's who you're targeting. When you make over the top statements statements like the Taliban quote above, what kind of message does that send?
  3. "One" speaks only in the third person, which makes me believe you're too big a "game of thrones" fan, hammered, or reeling from liquid touching on a sore subject. No one called retirees quitters but you.
  4. If you have to ask, I would probably say yes. You've seen the guidance, whether or not your local group/wing follows the... ahh fvck it.
  5. What you said: What I read: I'm butthurt that i got my AAD before this policy came out and I subscribe to the blanket policy that you should get an AAD regardless of its usefulness or cost to the taxpayers and your family. Wow. Believe it or not, and as vexing as you may consider it, there are officers who have been successful and promoted without an AAD. And transferred their gi bill to their kids. And lived happily ever after.
  6. My worthless opinion is that AFPC is going to offer continuation when they need numbers in certain ADSCs, regardless of TERA being offered or not. It's been my experience that AFPC doesn't consider your welfare for strategic planning.
  7. I'm interested if they still offer them.
  8. The media has always been there for the military in our time of need. Marching in formation is a skill I hope to never have to refresh, especially for someone else's fvckup and poor policy. That said (I'm just throwing a wild-ass guess out there), I think you'll be surprised that the WSJ or any other media outlet doesn't give a sh1t about stories headlined with "military officer thinks he's marching too much". Never talk to the media.
  9. Here we go. Because he's not holding the picket lines with the rest of the AF haters, he's a butt-sniffing, ball-washing CCE. I'm sure he's heartbroken that he solidified your reasons for leaving. You must be relieved that some dude on an anonymous internet forum has validated your life altering decision for leaving the AF. My commanders never had any interest in making me their exec. Maybe it's because I lack certain queepy skill sets required of executive officers, maybe it's because I'm too ugly to use as the front man, maybe both. In fact, I'm a pretty average dude, with a career vector that shoots right through the middle of the bell curve, yet I still enjoy the club. It could be better (I long for the days of yore when the local talent was bussed through the front gate and to the front door of the O-club for us to fornicate upon), but the club is still a place where I can tie one on with the bros, have a beer with my boss, and call the shoes out for texting like a$sh0les. Unfortunately, with every pus$y that rebukes the club on trumped up charges like "the food is no good", "the service is lousy" or "I'm too cheap and antisocial to buy a messdress as I'd rather spend Friday nights locked in my masterbatorium", the club looses out on revenue and your bros miss out on your camaraderie. I'm still on the fence regarding staying in beyond my UPT ADCS that expires in a year, but if I get out, it won't be because of crappy food at the club and my dues will be paid through 31 Aug 15.
  10. Weird. Refusing to purchase a mess dress never occurred to me. I would have missed out on so much. The shenanigans at my own upt graduation was worth the $300 for my mess dress, not to mention the formal AF events at Nellis that rarely ended in boredom. Plus my wife digs me in it.
  11. I don't know you and I don't know this colonel, but something strikes me as rather chickensh!t to call someone out by name in an anonymous forum and not give a reason why.
  12. Trying to imagine a commander that has a bullsh1t threshold high enough to let rusty trap him in a corner with a VID quiz.
  13. I shelf check the BX here at misawa at least once a week. It keeps my 900 sq ft apt filled with stuff that would cost twice as much outside the gate. Plus the Koreans come to town every now and then with a deal I can't refuse. It's no costco, but one of my favorite stores.
  14. Sage advice from a skilled operator! Before I commissioned, my SA was so high that they notified Luke AFB 4 years ahead of my arrival to allow enough time for them to come up with a syllabus tailored to my exceptional SA. I'm sure you have a similar experience hence your lack of patience for those not as gifted.
  15. Man haters...
  16. Beerman offers a perspective other than the "AF sucks" mantra and he is compared to a wife beater. Real great stuff here. I miss rainman.
  17. Assuming GOs are politically astute, he knew this would end his career yet made the call. Hence the unnecessary public explanation for his decision.
  18. Too many words. Did not read.
  19. busted. Now that the scotch has mostly metabolized, I remember the 13n that became an 18u and was the happiest dude you ever saw in a career field filled with pissed off people. His perma-smile was due in part to "actually contributing to the war". For him, his job satisfaction was tied to doing something he perceived as worthwhile.
  20. Rdtm code can be found on your surf. Toward the bottom on the right.
  21. Because they don't deploy, and their job is "easy" by your standards, they should STFU? Ridiculous. “Most folks” would disagree that an easy job equals job satisfaction, and you can't guarantee anything. Until the Airmen manning the silos are convinced they do a job that has meaning, morale will remain where it is.
  22. Brilliant! Because both career fields have very similar training costs.
  23. Same. Has not worked for 4 days now
