We just finished a administration that never addressed anything head on, and the thrash that caused. I personally and professionally did not find it enjoyable. Someone, who a lot of service members watch for news (not opinion) goes loud and proud with some bullshit about how we're fucking up with women in the service, the leadership's supposed to sit back? It's all over social media, the same thing we're all using to get bullshit call-sign non-mission-hacking bums fired. I get on FaceBook rarely, but checked in for this and this was all over, from the hippies to the vets in my life. Was there a response from leadership you found particularly egregious? Most were, "I disagree, women/my daughter/my partner are doing great things in our Services, we'll keep winning."

Yep, I'd add to be prepared for anything, and really, really learn to not care about the things you can't control. Spent more time in an ER this past year than all my AD time combined. Work has changed dramatically with no notice. Definitely not staying in this house until I die, but it's still got to get fixed up. Outside of being near family, nothing is working out as I expected! But that's ok, I can quit/move whenever I want to. I don't have to get fit on the AF's timeline, or get fit at all!

In my little part of the AF early on (MSG) I ran into a few blatant racists, who were really passive aggressive about it. Never met a rapist, but I know 4 guys who got charged for it. I was in Comm...plenty of creepy bronies and now weebs with their waifus. In "ops (cyber)" I didn't have out-right racists. I had people that were making ignorant decisions that looked really racist. We educated (somewhat forcefully and directly) and problems were solved. God I loved ops so much more. Calling people out on their bullshit was so much easier (and getting called out was much more helpful).

And no natural gas. So, dig a well for water, and set up a bike to pedal for power? I've got friends who ran out of food and power, they went through their 72 hr kits. Their generators ran out of fuel. You ready to go 3 days or more without power, water and gas in a major city? What the hell is government for if it's not to make sure our communities have utilities? How are our every-day Americans getting blamed in this failing of the business, regulators, and government?

Then, the war on drugs and mass incarceration at a disproportionate rate for minorities over whites, which crippled the families of what were generally conservative households.
