Like Fuzz says we've got a number of 2-time commanders, and a lot of O-4 Sq/CC's now. Per AFPC we're all in for command, no declinations, I think that's more a product of 2 AFSC RIFs and the Hunger Games in '14-'16. It's hard to say if we're going to go older since the domain is so new. We're shoe-horning it into what the AF knows (Flt-Sq-Grp) but I don't think it's going to last. It's not how we operate (more team/capes focused). This is an area other service models *might* make more sense? Some of our older commanders struggle with the compliance vs. ops mindset. If they'd just split the fucking AFSC we'd have a much easier time.

I agree, but want to point out this is changing as we move from a support function to mission defense and operations role.
-
I've gotten that feedback from 2 "HPO" 14N Lt Col's, but it might have just been in my corner of the AF.

Pumps got stuck on, huh...that's interesting.

Commanders are dropping like flies this year

Well...sure. But there's also this: Plus, what he said to/about the 1-stripe Amn is fucking UNSAT for a GO. -
If someone with a lot of DOT experience could shoot me a PM I'd appreciate it. I've got some air-breathing ops questions as we build out our cyber training requirements.

Sorry, just saw this. 1. If I could do it all over again I'd do ROTC. OTS is a gamble. The games suck, but theirs those with every commissioning source. 2. Sitting at a computer...yep. Discussions aren't too bad, we're the AF so most people understand computers, what they don't understand are processes or lines of authority. You'll explain those a lot. 3. Uh...it depends? Officers in 17X are much more leadership with early years on keyboard (if you get ops). If you get support they're almost all management. 1B4's are enlisted, and are almost all more on keyboard focused for the long run. It really depends on what you want to do.

Speaking of those, where can a brother design/order some for his cyber operators? We got tab patches on the OCP, and it would be a shame to wear only authorized patches on it.

Venom turned out to be fun and entertaining. Actually owning some of the original comics he appears in, I thought the new origin was interesting and carried on the spirit of the character.
-
Per AFI the weird colors. Perhaps we can lobby for full color patches on Friday.

Wow. That sucks dude. I remember sitting bitch queep work at wing CAG and reviewing the incoming 14N Lt/Jr Capt OPR's with no strats and discussing forcefully with the Sq/CC's they needed to get the good people numbers. Never got that done. I've talked with a few 14N Lt Col's afterwards and they all said no one gets strats at that level. I still don't understand it.

Sarcasm noted. However, AFWERX is not kidding with breaking shit and finding non-bureaucracy hindered solutions. They've done some interesting things so far.

Always fun getting people to correct the Panel vs. Jury distinction. -
Gents/Ladies, The new uniform for us non-zipper-suited-sun-gods is fantastic. I love having the Flag Patch, and look forward to unit patches, and morale patches. It fits so much better, and is infinitely more comfortable. Even if I rock these for only a couple of years, it was worth it.

This exact scenario happened in my last sq. Our CC was so happy when he was acquitted. Such an awful time to be a young male in military service. EDIT - Wg/CC brought all sexual assault complaints out of the hands of Sq/CC's. -

How the hell did I miss it from earlier today... -
What? No...never. I mean, I've heard Col+'s talk about how that's outside the AF and outside the career field and looks bad.

True, but didn't the whole crew just exit service ASAP when AMC/CC pulled wings? -
That's not a AF directive about data drives, and there's good reason for it I can't get into on here. GTIMs...a PMO system that causes all kinds of headaches. I tried (and failed) to get GTIMs some special easy pass for changes and updates. Alas, the prior mentioned GS's and Contractors weren't see it my way, and I couldn't get higher level buy in since we had higher priority items (Win10 migration). No the Chineses aren't. For the rest of the cyber stuff, we can kick it over the to cyber thread. I'll reply there to anything here, to not further derail. If a mod wants to move a bunch of this over, that'd be cool too.

Damn. Sorry to hear that. You can't just do a screen grab with something like Camista, or FRAPs to pull the footage from the VR machine? Oh wait...those aren't approved software. FML. I hope this gets the support it deserves, the no-monkeys need to die in a fire.

For real. When I go talk to kids in outlying communities from base that are in poorer sections and I mention the jobs we have and women aircrew I get a lot of "I didn't know we could do that." 2018, kids have smartphones but don't know women can fly (in combat) for the USAF. Go figure. It's one of the reasons I don't hate the "First woman/ethnicity general/pilot/crew to do XXX." Gets the word out and generally opens the youths eyes to something they might have historically (or culturally) been barred from or not considered.

I think VR is going to be fantastic for a lot of training. It's not going to take 15 years, and not with the fire that Cyber and pilot production has. We have internal AF developers that can kick down doors and get this shit done. FFS the last 24 AF/CC was a Viper driver and is now ACC/CV... Win10 migrations was having significant changes to the network every week. They got done because CSAF, AFSPC and 24 AF CC stood behind it. With SECAF, CSAF, AETC CC (and ACC/CC) behind it this could work the same. The "no" monkey's are dying out or being killed. We've still got some POS Col's/Lt Col's, but they're self-identifying and removing themselves for areas of resistance. The GS/SES's on the other hand...well...look at this OBOGS issue, we're stuck with these old fuckers. As a Cyber dude I know all about being behind the tech curve. I worked for the past 2 years watching AFNET burn down while we shoveled cash to some GO's pet project of cloud email (you're welcome for your 99 GB email, sorry about not being able to login). Before that was 18 years of "why the hell do we have to maintain base infrastructure with end of year funds?" I shouldn't get a call from some FAIP in Austin on Thursday about how to hook VR up to AFNET for updates/google maps access/whatever and he needs a solution by Friday. He's not talked to his Comm Sq or his A6. He's not even sure who's providing his current internet connection, or how it runs. His OG/CC sent him there TDY with the mandate to "get it to work." I hope that bro got more assistance from my AETC/A6 POCs, he'd never spoken to them about the project. That phone call sucked--that's a fucking foul on Ops. If you don't think I know what I'm talking about, read through my post history and I'd advise you to feel free to stay in your lane and stfu. Apologies for the thread derail, back to OBOGS.

Come on man, I'm not Trump lover and voted for a few Dem's in the last election, but you're stretching here. 1) Besides her therapist...who? I've seen nothing else in the news about ANYONE else she told even close to temporaneously. 2) That's not evidence of anything. You love it when jihadi's and white supremacists wear masks to remain anonymous too? 3) Is she...finally? How long did that take, and how far does the Senate judiciary committee need to bend over to get this "poor poor victim" to bend over to share her story. 4) A professor, from CA taking on big bad Republican Supreme Court nominee who's going to tear out women's uteruses personally? She's got a shit ton to gain. WTF are you talking about. Between the book, interview and movie money. There's the fact she's in a extremely liberal start, in a highly liberal profession. I'll put real money on her getting some NOW award at the end of the year, and this probably helping her move up the ivory tower further. 30 years...of living in CA, in academia and NOW is the time she comes forward. Not during Obama's time when the college's were kicking out dudes over text-messages and not-really-rape-but-she-said-it-was-after-you-didn't-reply-back-fast-enough. Plus the new accusations are so fucking ridiculous...hope you never had a drinking game where someone's pants came off. You're accessory to sexual assault. This shit stinks of the gulag courts...which seems about right for where they want us headed. I guess K will throw himself on the mercy of the committee and beg for forgiveness for contradicting the always right "victim."

Surprised we haven't had any commentary on the bullshit going on with this Supreme Court pick.

1) How do the training results hold up? 2) What value is there in every squadron spinning up their own version? 3) What is the level to which home-spin VR will be utilized to train of a single class iteration? 4) How does it get funded? 5) How do you get that shit to work with the Cyber dudes? That's just spitballing. By all means, keep home-growing (in each squadron) a separate solution to the same problem without any outside expertise for input.
