  1. Whoa, but is it of AFSC, FGO's/CGO's, ## year group, (insert other meaningless denominator)
  2. Great news! Gen Weggeman is getting another star and will be the ACC Vice...Deputy...whatever. I might just stay in a little bit longer than necessary.
  3. Son of a... DOD certs aren't trusted by the browser vendors natively. You have to import then on your own. Does it show which certs are being denied?
  4. I'm cyber...you're a fucking dork.
  5. Operation Bolo details being declassified - https://warisboring.com/spies-helped-the-usaf-shoot-down-a-third-of-north-vietnam-s-mig-21s/
  6. Hurtful
  7. Well I got the word from my old boss, which is interesting since I left that org over a month ago. EDIT - New boss called t0o. This was the final requirement for "retiring happy." It's all gravy from here.
  8. I think someone tweeted it at him, and he thought it sounded cool. So...here we are. I'm sure it won't hamper our attempts to increase highly contested cyber capabilities/environments at all...
  9. USAF OPS NORMAL - Whichever way is worse for you
  10. I don't think they're leading in super computing yet, though they are doing a ton in quantum computing. However, if you've ever read a white paper or article saying what they've discovered, shit is SUPER suspect. Because of the cheapness of labor all the chip dies and foundries have moved to China/Taiwan (AKA #1 China), with further loss of Intellectual Property from companies doing business their due to their communist rules. There's a ton of articles on it online about companies getting screwed. This is very clearly an area where capitalist values (i.e. almighty dollar/shareholder value) are hurting our nation, if not the world. Also, because of their demand economy they've spun up dozen of high tech Cyber Institutions to build out a cyber force, nothing like we can match. Further discussion should probably move to the Cyber thread, so as not to derail our outrage at CC's getting fired!
  11. they said the same thing before WWI...
  12. Our allies in the region are shaking in their boots with the expansion in the SCS. For some reason we're still in the mindset that the Pacific Ocean is going to protect us from Chinese shenanigans. The Navy has brought it up a lot. While I'm not scared of their engineering, I am scared of their numbers. They're also just as resourceful and cunning as we are and have a culture built on "fighting outsiders." Their cyber capes are pretty detailed in Open Source info, but it's like the rest of their capes - mass makes up for a lot of other issues.
  13. Well...displaying the rumor fucks with them. To me...that's reason enough.
  14. Is it ever not DOR?
  15. Or even North/South. Happened in Oregon, used to be fairly red, then all the awful Cali yuppies (note: my home state) moved up their and shifted the politics to what it is today. You know, having to buzz in customers at the Portland burger joints to ensure the homeless don't shit on the floor or OD in the bathroom.
  16. I tried, but since it's got my rank locked at 1st Lt...no joy. What a fantastic system from the 90's they've got there.
  17. Thanks @Duck for the sleuthing. Whomever keeps talking about this board at all on the promotions page (last reference was "the board that won't be named") needs to choke themselves. Don't turn this shithole into the reddit shithole
  18. Darn...so close. Having dealt with these issues in the past, I wonder if the J6 went for funding the solution and no one wanted to pay or if this was just someone not doing their job.
  19. Well...guess we'll starting posting questions via Twitter, or Facebook to the SECAF, CSAF and AFPC pages. Or JQP could make a come back and detail this in a 3 part story.
  20. Interesting. I guess by that you mean something like having the gov't say Insurance couldn't deny people with pre-existing conditions is "further regulation." And fuck poor people right? How stupid of them to get poor in the first place! Like my dumb father-in-law who was a PhD in Chemistry. He was working for Exxon, and got HIV through a blood transfusion in the 80's and died on social assistance while raising 3 kids living on his Sis-in-laws farm for free. Like my stupid brother who put himself through mechanic school and graduated in 2008...then couldn't find a job for 3 years to pay off that technical training. So he flipped burgers for that time, then put himself through web-development school a few years ago. Your denigration of other human beings as a "cost center" is rather misplaced. The fact that you produce more "value," and think that relates directly to your worth as a human being is a gross misjudgement of what people on this very board say matters - QoL, family, etc. It's the thinking that plunged this county into the 2008 recession. A bunch of disturbingly rich people thinking they were of more value, hence their enormous paychecks, just trying to get richer no matter what the cost to society. Military members live in a very insular bubble with generally supremely healthy people all around them. We shit on coworkers who get into medical issues and "can't deploy because they're malingering." I've had 2 back surgeries paid for by the AF, the first when I was 20. If I wasn't AD, I'd be the exact person you're talking about being "more valuable" than. I hate socialism and communism as well as the son of a Cold War vet can (doubly so after reading the Gulag Archipelago), but I'm not convinced capitalism is the lens through which we need to view chronic health problems and treatment.
  21. J6...so not Air Forces fault. Whew...
  22. Hotel Artemis - Imagine a whole move about the hotel in John Wick, but set in the "near future." It's about as deep as all those scenes too. Enjoyed it, but wasn't impressed. B-
  23. I strangely think this was an attempt to return this authority to the CC's...they just didn't sell/prepare it as that. That's the vibe I'm getting from my bro's, perhaps @Duck might have more/less info.
  24. Crag, I'm going with benefit of the doubt on this one. I don't think it was communicated down well enough to have the sifting at the lower level like higher level expected. We're used to PRF's and the board taking care of the process. I'm fine with the local folks being given this authority, and think it's actually where it should reside...if they're given the craniums up about what's expected. Though I will miss the rack-n-stack across the AFSC that happened with central boards for school.
  25. Pretty sure it was posted pages back as well. My RUMINT (same as here, but different source) was there wasn't a good enough scrub by CC's/SR's and individuals who should have been auto-non-recommended were still sent up as DP/P. So SAF/HAF had to scrub them all because CC's/SR's didn't "do their job." Apparently, like we're doing with school and the rest now, SR's are supposed to be the arbiters of good/bad news...which is fine with me. Ya'know...leadership. Now, whether those CC's/SR's got that guidance was not made clear to me. But given how we're all confused over what's different this time vs. every year before it...I'd guess not.
