  1. That app's getting a lot of good news. If you like spicy investing meme's (mostly around options), and watching people lose money they don't have, check out - https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/ I laugh my ass of daily and enjoy the throwback language of the 90's.
  2. Plus...civilians are "cheaper" in the long run.
  3. Sorry, lack of clarity on my part, Surely got it right - I meant Cyber Warrant Officers. We haven't actually referred to our Patches as WO's strangely. Usually it's "Patch" or Weapons Officer...huh, just realized that. I don't think popping off space is going to make us integrate any more, or less effectively for cyber. I imagine there's going to be some of my ilk that cross over, and the Army and Marines will lose their chunk of personnel as well. From my perch, cyber integrates "Ok" now, and everyone wants it. So we have more conversations now than I've seen before. Some good (Oh, you can do X to their capes?) and some bad (What do you mean you can't hack the missile in flight?) . I'm not talking about NIPR, which is getting better as leadership has actually figured out you've got to pay for the systems to actually get jets off the ground.
  4. Granted I'm institutionalized at this point, but I'm still not convinced a separate service is the right move for our domain at this point. There needs to be a lot of figuring out of authorities and everyone's hands in the pie for IT vs. Cyber Ops/Def. Space has a longer history, and once had their own command. I can't believe I'm writing this, but 468 days until I retire...so my give a cyber-shit is low. Plus I've had to argue with SSgt's/Lt's about why there's not going to be Cyber-WO's anytime soon, and they're convinced Enlisted Jesus is going to make it happen like OCPs.
  5. File this under - "Congratulations, you're not guilty but you're a pain in the ass. There's the door."
  6. I was only following orders and was told the pilots were dedicated to that job, could just sleep at their homes at night. No, I didn't believe that story either.
  7. Telework for "deployed" folks was actually something I worked on while at 24AF. By "worked on" I mean the AMC/A6 called my boss and asked, why setting up accounts on AFCENT for the deployers didn't "just work" to connect to AFNET...AMC/CC project...CSAF visibility...it worked at X location. Of course, light on details at X location. Some Comm Sq/CC over-promised & got some hack solution for their specific situation working, sold it as a fix for pilot retention and then fucked up my week. I don't think we ever got it working because I stopped tracking it when Win10 became the thing and didn't hear about it again. I hope it did, it's a good idea.
  8. You do you, boo. I've had 2 back surgeries, crushed disc at 19 and then a bone spur compressing the sciatic nerve at 35. I got addicted to narcotics to deal with the pain while the AF figured it out. PSA - Withdrawals suck. Now I've got bone spurs in both heels that look like eagle talons on the x-ray. I've never failed a PT test, but I've come close. I can't depend on my body to not fuck itself. I also carry all of my weight in the midsection, so the tape is a constant struggle. Every time I get to a place I consider acceptable for PT another part breaks. I do what I can, track food, diet...workout as directed by the medical hobby shop. The stress that hits me for PT testing is unlike anything else I've ever done (CDC or promotion testing enlisted, undergrad/grad classes, alone with SrA Hotness, etc.).
  9. We're going to see it tomorrow. They've been really good since 2 was a shit show. Perfect summer flick.
  10. 22 Aug it will be awarded, fuck the Seals. https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/president-donald-j-trump-award-medal-honor-4/
  11. It has been mighty quiet on here after Helsinki and the FISA release.
  12. FISA warrant for Carter Page was released, find it at your favorite news source. Some interesting analysis here: If you've got good reviews of it let me know.
  13. Concur. Seemed clearly aimed at a older demo.
  14. Careful, he'll post another family photo.
  15. Well, It's official today - Wedge got his 3rd star and ACC is the home of Cyber. Woooooooooooo! https://www.acc.af.mil/News/Commentaries/Display/Article/203682/acc-afcyber-join-forces-to-provide-the-right-tools-for-cyber-success/ Call it Air and Cyber Command, bitches.
  16. Answer to this should be a banner on the front of the forum.
  17. Chief, running for 100ft, breathless and not spilling a drop of coffee from his mug. "Sir, I see you're all about ready to board to do that mission. However I noticed one of the SrA linguists in the back was in a A2CU and the rest of the crew was in bags. You're going to have to get everyone standardized before you can take off. If you crash, and survive, what will the enemy think if you're not all in the same uniform." AC - Logic about how stupid that is. Chief - "Sir, I understand how long it'll take him to get back, get a uniform and then have MX adjust the flight times, and all that. If he hustles like a good Airman you won't even have to get a crew rest waiver. Ground forces will have to wait for your capabilities, because if you're not all in the same approved flight uniform it'll be a detriment execution and upholding standards." "After all, if we can't trust you to make sure everyone is in only one of the two approved flight uniforms what can we trust you with?" Chief notices the AC has left, and the hatch is being pulled closed.
  18. Marines doing the same, shocking...only $35K a year. https://www.usmclife.com/2018/07/marines-offering-pilots-210000-bonuses-to-stay-in-the-corps/
  19. We must seize the means of production and promotion!
  20. So, in your opinion he's a failure if not all items that he invests in produce tangible results?
  21. Hits keep coming. Got a call from outgoing Sq/CC today notifying me I'm going to get moved to a "great opportunity" to work on a "new mission system," and that the dude they told me for 3 months is just the Interim Dir of Ops is going to stay in place and be the actual DO. He's "got the skill set they need." I had initially asked 3 months ago if this was the case because I had a blue falcon feeling. Sq/CC told me then it was not, that I was the DO "until I heard from him otherwise." So I guess he's not a liar. Asked if I had any concerns. I told him I'd vectored my Command DT input as me already being in a DO position since that's what the 1-star who got me the job advised me to put. Along with my OPR saying DO selection "spot on" (or whatever) and now if I'm not going to be a DO how's that going to impact my career? Since I'll now not get the DO stamp on time, when I was identified as a early year-group candidate...what's the impact? He was quiet and said he'd have to talk to everyone who made the decision about it. Since they didn't think about that before. I hit 20 yrs in Feb 19, ADSC up Nov 19.
  22. But it didn't result in something useful right now so it's a total failure!
  23. Oh wow, they're the same exact thing? Who knew? It's almost like there's departments over agencies that can make decisions in line with or contrary to the agencies recommendations. Why does that seem so familiar?
  24. My reading of the articles was this was a DOJ decision.
  25. I don't mind the CC spots, and even 1Sgt spots--doubly so in front of the buildings they work out. It's the rest of the spots (5 GO , 3 Col , 3 CMSgt, 3 GS-XX) that were in front of the commissary, BX, gym that annoy the crap outta me.
