  1. Those RPA bonus taker numbers were pretty interesting. Not as bad as advertised or am I reading something wrong. I'm not used to such grand slides.
  2. Lol, thanks for the heads up guys. Client Systems (3D1X1) - Help desk monkeys who do customer visits. You'll do a lot of workstation fixes (java repair, headset's not working, etc.) Cyber Systems Operations (3D0X2) - Not exactly sure, but I believe this is the NCC Server Monkeys. So you'll be working with ACAS, Vuln patching, SCCM etc. Cyber Transport Systems (3D1X2) - Router/Switch Monkeys. So you'll be working on the transport making sure cables are plugged in and routing is working correctly. RF Transmissions Systems (3D1X3) - Antenna Monkeys. If you don't like heights DO NOT get this job. Spectrum Operations (3D1X4) - Desk job ensuring that USAF Spectrum is being run correctly. Hard to describe this one. They make sure all the emitters on the airfield are not interfering with the civilian world and vice versa. Example - Someone complains their garage door is opening on it's own every time aircraft X comes in to land. Your job to figure it out--that's a true story. No certifications that I'm aware of, you don't actually work on any equipment. I'm sure some of the bros on here have stories about country music drowning out the ILS or some other such thing. So.. if you're looking to go further with IT/Cyber do not pick the last 2 jobs. There's a reason they have a bonus. I'm partial to Transport Systems or Systems Operations, but that's kinda where I've spent the bulk of my career/professional focus. There's nothing wrong with Client Systems either, though if you've got a CS degree...I'm not sure if it's going to feel like meaningful work. IF you wanted to get into the cyber ops side of the house the two I mentioned above will be the closest to a natural transition over. Please let me know if you've got anymore questions.
  3. Going to say that this election has caused more office talk about politics that I'd seen in 20ish years. A lot more liberals coworkers, and concerned conservatives than I'd thought were around. The die-hard conservatives aren't around as much as I thought they'd be...plus they're usually Guard. Go figure. I'm on staff...maybe it's an age thing.
  4. Not a Demo, but lets not act like 2-4 aren't pinnable on the "Conservatives" currently in office.

I think I grew up with more Orcs and Fairies than you did.
  6. So...no responsibility of conservatives for the current situation. Ok.

Bright was a fun Will Smith flick. Wouldn't have been upset if I'd paid for it.
  8. Odds on a memo getting leaked just went up...I guess the Democrats have to check with the FBI and DOJ before a memo goes out. Republicans... Not so much. Makes it so partisan and petty when it could be one more step closer to over. But that wouldn't be reality TV enough for Donny-Boy.
  9. Are we really calling the shady blatantly illegal shit Flynn did a process crime?
  10. Personal liberty...and personal liberty... so no, we don't support the non-enforcement of the sanctions for the same reason.
  11. I'd get more R's elected who are in-line with the President, but view any D as an enemy of the state and refuse to compromise with the other (larger half) of the country. Continue with the real fake news, bot spam and other info-war stuff to break the R's into further sub-groups calling each other cucks for maybe not wanting to deport a mexican who's been here for 30 years w/ a family working a job, paying taxes. Forgot add - Continue the destruction of institutions (FBI, DOJ... DoD is next) that have represented not only a check on internal power, but a watchdog against our external foes infiltrating.
  12. lawfare's a good one. Rather enjoy the technical analysis of jurisprudence versus everyone's "I saw an episode of Law & Order last night" breakdowns.
  13. I'm honestly not sure how to respond to this... I'm just one person, with a limited view of FGO-ish down. But...no, we're not happy with them. We're not even red headed step children under them. We literally get no thought about mission critical systems or warfighting needs until it's 1100 on a Saturday and the tasker is due to HAF 1200 on Monday. That's not an exaggeration. Do you like the way the network is now? That's because AFSPC wouldn't fund anything to fix it until basically every 4-star sent a "WTF note" about their email being down for more than a day. Then they pushed this cloud email imitative (which is great) without thinking about the strain on bandwidth at the migrated bases, or supporting infrastructure. Are you basing this off the glad-handing, grandstanding of GO's and Col's at official functions/Legislative interviews? The space folks they put in charge of 24AF were so very not good. There are almost no policies left from them that we follow, and what we're forced to we actively hate. The Holiday Party had open jokes about us getting our own MAJCOM, and when the announcement came down about moving people actually clapped. Hey... does the guy that leads us even wear our badge over a year after taking command? https://www.af.mil/About-Us/Biographies/Display/Article/108479/general-john-w-jay-raymond/ Merging w/ the 25th I'm a little more worried about. SAF/CIO's a Intel dude by trade (seems like a good dude), so the winds don't look good for someone that's actually a Cyber dude/chick to get the reins anytime soon. Intel's not Ops no matter how much they wish it was so.
  14. Read it...whole lot of nothing outside the Ohr stuff. Unclassify the FISA warrant and get this over with. No bombshell as promised from the right, no huge threat to national security as promised from the left.
  15. We're rather excited about it actually.
  16. Still rumors of a Global Vigilance command w/ 24AF and 25AF merging. Last RUMINT had 24AF leaving AFSPC this Spring (May/Apr) to join the nirvana of ACC...where we can be further ignored.
  17. I think you guys are underestimating the teachers union in CA.
  18. Seriously doubt that is real, it's just too over the top. Even for my former home, loony California. Plus there's another article showing what he posted after it broke and it was as dumb, but not overt.
  19. We do not. We're terrifyingly under-manned for what we're supposed to be doing. For example, in the exact same section in other orgs there's 4+ people working together on tasks. We've got 1 person, same amount of tasks and coord. It'll be interesting to see this coming week because I'm not doing anything real-world since I'm not staying longer than 12hrs. It's not the fuck-fuck exercise games. It's the fuck-fuck passive-aggressive for 2 weeks so we make family plans while getting vaguely told we're "team players." Exercises aren't surprises, just our level of effort. "So, am I working this coming weekend?" Reply, "We're team players." Got to cut out my dudes early today since they were doing nothing related to it...just being "team players." On a positive note I found out I could put in for retirement this December.
  20. Negative. We were told we're participating in an exercise. Last time we were all in, 12 hour coverage, split amongst the minions. Found out Friday it's 12's for all 10 days straight including weekends.
  21. Shout out to the "leaders" who said, "Staff's all in for this exercise." Then wouldn't clarify what that meant until 1500 on Friday. That clarification - 12's for 10 days straight, sorry-not sorry about your weekend plans.
  22. This is my favorite part when people claim the military "still works" when these things come along. Sure, overseas we're still bombing people. But it's a long logistics arm back to CONUS, and there's a significant amount of that that's no longer AD. Imagine if they actually closed the CDC and Youth Center all the way. Guess CC's will just direct folks to execute those Family Care Plans...
